There are consequences to a giant welfare state when you reward people with money for doing NOTHING, they might stop doing those hard labor-intensive jobs that make your government seem competent of doing. when you tell voters not to protect themselves and wait on the government for their personal security there’s a bill attached to that, rich people have to pay for personal security, when you as a government bans citizens from protecting themselves, you as a government are guaranteeing their protection.
