Justin Trudeau Promises Higher Taxes For Canadians: Canada will impose PUNITIVE tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles – August 26, 2024

Posted on August 26, 2024 by RichInWriters

Justin Trudeau continues to raise taxes on Canadians for all sorts of things. By now it’s pretty obvious that political “climate change” is a redistribution scheme and the Politicians in charge, are merely using this climate change scam as a means to make everything more expensive.

China now dominates the EV market and production costs, insurance costs, recycling costs as well as maintenance costs in relation to Electric vehicles continues to rise as there appears to be no plan on what to do when these EVs which values as currently constructed seem to have very little RESALE value, gives us a glimpse into what an EV future looks like, is now promising to be a cash loser.

Tariffs on electric vehicles allow EV producers in compliances to raise their prices and create a new FLOOR price for electric vehicles. For example a lot of what Canadians buy is made in China, if everything China sent Canadians was subject to a tariff the prices of imports to Canada from China, would mirror the inflated prices you see for CANADIAN REAL ESTATE.

China dominates EV battery manufacturing, and they dominate EV after market parts, which is actually a positive thing for EV consumers, so in general this move is more of a announcement and less about any real substance.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Monday Canada will impose punitive tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles — copying a similar initiative that the U.S. is already pursuing to stop a flood of what’s been described as unfairly state-subsidized cars.

Trudeau made the announcement at the federal cabinet retreat in Halifax where ministers are meeting to craft a strategy for the year ahead — the last year before an expected federal election in October 2025. Trudeau and his cabinet heard from Jake Sullivan, Biden’s national security advisor, late Sunday during a surprise stopover before his trip to China.

Amid industry pressure to copy the U.S. program, Trudeau said a 100 per cent surtax will be levied on all Chinese-made EVs, effective Oct. 1.
Ottawa is following through now, Trudeau said, to “level the playing field for Canadian workers” and allow Canada’s nascent EV industry to compete at home, in North America and globally.

The tariff will apply to electric and certain hybrid passenger automobiles, trucks, buses and delivery vans.

Separately, Trudeau also announced Monday the federal government will apply a 25 per cent surtax on imports of steel and aluminum products from China, effective Oct. 15, 2024.

In general I expect Flex fuel or hybrid vehicles to take over the market place, after all of this EV silliness is proven to be farce.
