Layoff protection for Manitoba’s civil servants about to end – Must-Read Story For Canadians
GlobalNews is where I first read about this story and if you want to know why deflating the overly-bloated cost of living in Canada is not as easy as it sounds, you’ll want to consider reading the must-read story below:
The reason why the story above is a must read is how the argument is structured against cutting the size of Government. In the United States, currently Donald Trump shut down the government and if you listen to most U.S mainstream outlets they structure the argument of Government shutdown or a government Wage Freeze they way they structure Private sector layoffs. Now, if Canadians don’t know a lot of these Government jobs didn’t exist, nor did many of them need to exist prior to their creation. In most instances, most Government positions were created by politicians who felt the private sector was incapable of filling a void in a manner acceptable to the people.
If Canadians go to most government offices typically you’ll notice that they’re pretty empty, if the office isn’t empty it’s usually filled to capacity. Whether the government office is a full or empty majority of the time, the government offices are inefficiently run and the reason, most government offices are inefficiently run is because there’s no incentive for a government to be efficient. The words deficit spending, supply management, Crown Corporation an equalization Payments go relatively unnoticed by the average Canadian, by these words and legal entities are extremely expensive.
with Crown Corporations, Canadians do have the option not to use or support them, however it’s not in Canadians best interests not to support Crown Corporations, because Crown Corporations have monopolies on entire industries, Crown Corporation monopolies are so powerful that their private sector competitors in most instances refuse to compete with them, instead competitors of crown corporations instead tend to focus on a small niche that a Crown Corporation cannot penetrate. UPS competes with a crown Corporation Canada Post by offering something Canada Post can’t offer which is 48-hour international shipping, UPS in Canada doesn’t bother trying to be competitive with Canada Posts domestic mail, as it knows new legislation or a new regulation will stop them from being competitive.
Canadians, unlike Americans, are rather silent when talking about shrinking the size of government or ending Crown Corporation monopolies so when you read the following on the Global News article:
“These people have mortgages to pay and they’ve got children to feed.” – Global News
You can already start to see pushback, and what’s often ignored is that a simple vote in the opposite direction can give these Government workers their job security back. Now, the keywords above are union president Michelle Gawronsky” the proper wording for the above should have been Public Sector Union president Michelle Gawronsky.
Now, more than likely a Public Sector Union boss will tell the people they represent to vote for a politician who will guarantee that they have the job security they desire. In case, people wonder why most Conservative politicians flip-flop on issues, it’s because they have to deal with these overly priced Public Sector workers and their Public Sector Unions and sell them on why their positions should be relinquished and in case you’ve never seen government cutbacks challenged, all I’ll say is this Manitoba situation might get very interesting.
Claiming to cut back the size of government and actually doing it, are 2 very different things. I commend Premier Brian Pallister and I hope Manitobans are able to see what he’s trying to accomplish, I get it, Government workers want job security, well the truth is everybody wants job security and in the Private Sector customers vote with their dollars, and if a small business can’t attract business or is inefficiently run, that private sector job creator goes out of business. If Government positions are slowing down the economy or aren’t having the desired effects intended on the communities they’re supposed to serve, why should these entities get job security? Now, of course, there are public servant positions that absolutely necessary, but there are also a lot more that are not necessary.
Interesting times ahead.
