Liberals set to ask an expert panel to look at ways to regulate online streaming services
The Liberals looking into controlling what people see, about a year ago they were looking into controlling what people hear, now they want to control what you see. To read more consider visiting CBC.ca or clicking the link below:

When I read what’s being proposed it’s really scary stuff, instead of Canadian companies admitting that their entertainment values are lagging behind that of America, they instead want to regulate what Canadians can see, admitting that they can’t handle the competition which in reality is giving Canadians a false sense of security and identity. There’s another article titled: Internet video, music services must pay up to save Canadian content, CRTC says where the Canadians who feel entitled for their fellow Canadians to watch them want the government to regulate what we watch or force Canadian taxpayers to pay up. Netflix isn’t going to pay Canadian content, Canadian taxpayers will pay for it as Netflix passes costs onto their Canadian subscribers.
Canada is full of snowflakes, at the very least I commend the CBC for quoting University of Ottawa professor Michael Geist who stated:
CRTC was effectively calling for a “regulate everything model” that included “ISP and Netflix taxes.”
I completely agree it’s time for Canadians to grow up, other countries have. How about we as Canadians simply admit that Americans are doing a better job at entertainment than we are. This is not to say that upstarts can’t compete or aren’t competing, it’s just currently some of the artists that Canada is producing aren’t up to par with what’s happening in America.
Majority of the blame in my view has come from Canadian regulatory authorities, who’ve been babying Canadian artists telling them they’re good when the market says otherwise, giving undeserving artists a platform larger than they’re ready for, creating television shows that Canadians aren’t relating too.
I’m personally tired of the communist model of television and radio in Canada, I donate, I have no problem donating to Canadian artists. But if you’re going to force Canadians to pay for art they don’t want don’t be surprised when Canadian talent has a hard time competing in the real entertainment marketplace. There have been Canadians that have become successful in America despite the efforts of the government and there have been artists that have failed. That’s life, when you’re an artist you’re entering a hugely competitive space and your audience members expect to be entertained.
If what you’re selling is entertaining you don’t need the CRTC, you don’t need Netflix, you don’t need Amazon Prime, the truth is right now I have Amazon Prime which includes movies and I seldom if ever use it, why because I find that better artists are more worthy of my time and guess what many of those artists that I devote my time too are in fact Canadian. But I appreciate these Canadians because they go over and beyond my expectations when it comes to entertaining. Which equates to me giving my money freely to them and they not needing the Canadian or Liberal party to bail them out by forcing Netflix to pay up.
