In most developed nations, LOCAL governments are responsible for housing. In reality there’s no such thing as a HOUSING shortage, there is however something called a LANDLORD shortage. Landlord shortages, which even include laws against SQUATTING, create shortages of housing.
Thousands of demonstrators hit central Barcelona over the weekend to protest against mass tourism in the city.
Protesters carried signs reading “Barcelona is not for sale” and “Tourists go home” before some used water guns on tourists eating outdoors at restaurants.
Rents rose by 18 per cent in June from a year earlier in two of Spain’s tourist cities, Barcelona and Madrid, according to the property website Idealista.
Barcelona’s mayor, Jaume Collboni, announced a plan in June to phase out all short-term lets by 2028, an unexpectedly drastic move by the authorities who seek to rein in soaring housing costs and make the city liveable for residents.

Now, if you’re a moron, you’d assume housing shortages are the result of something external. The history of Europe is ripe with Europeans blaming EXTERNAL forces for INTERNAL problems; most wars in Europe are the result of STUPID laws that seemed great at the time of inception but led to disasters down the road.
I remind people that the European Union was created in 1999. The EURO currency hid a lot of the stupid fiscal policies that still exist in Europe today, namely in Latin-speaking European countries.
A lot of Europeans, in general, view the world from the eyes of their prior MONARCHIES, in which something EXTERNAL was the problem; republics, on the other hand, are SUPPOSED to take responsibility for BAD economic policies.
So when I observe the protestors in Barcelona, Spain, attempting to blame external forces for internal problems, I’m not surprised in the least; the problem is that if this type of low IQ economic thinking in Barcelona continues, they’re going to REPELL capital to Barcelona.
Being that socialists hate Capitalism, this could spell collapse for Barcelona, which is possible, by the way, because Spain doesn’t control the Euro. We’ve entered into the era of forced austerity and Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) will accelerate it.
You combine ESG with existing socialist policies all over the world, and you should get a clear understanding of the inevitable economic collapse that’s headed our way.
