First Maxime Bernier now it’s Derek Sloans turn: Peter MacKay widens lead in Conservative leadership fundraising with late surge in donations – August 20, 2020,
When I see Peter MacKay I think about Brian Mulroney. Canadians remember Pierre Trudeau, what most Canadians wanted was for Brian Mulroney to reverse the damage that Pierre Trudeau had done, instead Brian Mulroney did the opposite and it eventually led to his downfall and the creation of the Reform Party.
Now with Peter MacKay Western Canada has a choice to make, they can throw the next election and build something substantive or they can give their vote to the Conservatives and get blamed for economic disasters Justin Trudeau has already caused.
Nobody blames Pierre Trudeau for Canada’s last economic downturn, all the blame went to Brian Mulroney. History will repeat if Peter MacKay becomes Prime minister. If I were Derek Sloan right after he’s defeated I’d join the People’s Party of Canada and accept that he might lose his riding.
If Peter MacKay wins, I highly recommend Albertans join the Wexit party. Peter MacKay aka Brian Mulroney isn’t going to help Alberta. Peter MacKay will also infuriate the Left just as much as Derek Sloan would, the difference being Peter MacKay will be accommodating to the Leftists in Canada, which ultimately equates to economic delays.
It’s not to say Peter MacKay won’t throw Western Canada a bone here or there, but Peter MacKay isn’t even a Jason Kenney, Western Canada will not be a priority for him Ontario and Quebec will be and quite frankly I can’t see Peter MacKay winning over Quebecers, especially when the Bloc is doing a pretty good job representing Quebec’s interests.
The real question is will Western Canada consider putting their own needs first, for a change? It’s unlikely the People’s Party of Canada or any WEXIT party would block any motion that came from the Conservative Party that would be positive for the Canadian economy. But even if Peter MacKay wins, it’s imperative Canadians realize that all the Leftist party’s can form a coalition against Mackay if he wins!
There is no such thing as vote splitting, what exists is a people’s ability to negotiate. The Conservative Party feels confident in Western Canadian votes, which is why they put a progressive spin to their platform. If Peter MacKay wins I’m curious to see Western Canada’s response. I’m not a Western Canadian, I don’t want Western Canada or Quebec to leave, but my country is in trouble and I believe we need to change the progressive culture that will destroy not only our economy but our social cohesion.
changing the culture in this country starts with sending the political establishment a very clear message that we will not be ignored!
