Now here’s the problem that I these new age Liberals don’t seem to understand. Even under conservative leadership Canada didn’t really get that conservative. On the federal level when the conservatives took control, Stephen Harper’s conservatives really didn’t change much of the protectionism instituted by his predecessor Liberals. So because of that Canadians have actually been enjoying the benefits of Paul Martin’s leadership. That aside what today’s Liberals don’t understand is why Stephen Harper didn’t want Canada to run a deficit. The major reason Stephen Harper didn’t want Canada to intentionally run a deficit is because it would limit Canada’s flexibility in the event a Donald Trump came along.
Liberals need to understand that because they’re running a deficit, because the BoC has interest rates in Canada lower than the rates in the U.S, because Canada has been practicing protectionism in a variety of ways they’re not really in a negotiating position with America right now. This is not to say that Canada can’t win a trade war, but if America decides to fight back it’s important for Canadians to know that they don’t have the moral high ground and if we keep behaving with this arrogant attitude an unexpected crash might occur in an industry that we don’t expect and that crash similar to the oil shock may send ripples throughout the Canadian economy.
Honestly I wouldn’t be upset if Kathleen Wynne won another term. I’d honestly prefer Canadians experience the coming crash under Liberal leadership. The question to be asked is why are interest rates in Canada so low? Why are there custom fees when Canadians buy from America. I recently went to America made I purchase for an item costing $150 I was charged $40 when I returned to Canada. Why are Canada’s fees so high for delivery? Why are Canada’s internet charges so high? Regarding Ontario why are things so expensive in Ontario as is. Why are Ontario’s taxes harmonized? There’s a lot of protectionism in Canada if you ask me and the Liberal government is still asking for more while condemning America for doing the same thing. Canada we are no longer on the economic moral high ground, I know we’ve been enjoying a great standard of living but beware things aren’t what they seem to be.
