New rules for unionized government workers, The Ontario College of Teachers have added rules for teachers to adhere too, I’m just curious to know how costly it will be to enforce. This also doesn’t bode well for male teachers as the details are rather broad and if you as the teacher are accused the costs to defend yourself will be rather interesting. Am I against the new rules? I’m against teachers taking advantage of minors. However Adult teachers and adult students engaging in a sexual relationship, that’s a whole different situation.
You’re asking a lot of adults in this one, some people are basing this on male teachers being the targets, I agree with this, however my argument revolves around adults. Male teachers have been screwed over for years, which is why public education continues to decline. There should be a balance of female to male teachers, but all these rules are geared to giving female teachers an advantage education.
If you’re wondering why the trades keep getting taken out of the curriculum especially in low income areas, well you may want to consider taking a look at the teachers, teaching students from kindergarten to college. A lot of women, especially highly educated women frown on jobs or tasks that include physical labour. So when the government is handing out funding to teachers take a wild guess what programs teachers are most likely to fund.
when you hear about government giving money to teachers and the money not being enough, what’s often being overlooked is how the money is being spent but the teachers boards. Unionized employees have to be paid and their salaries have to keep up with inflation. After these public employees are paid then the needs of students are calculated. Once this type of entitlement culture is established by public school teachers it’s up to the government to find them more funding, because if the government doesn’t do this well, then these public school teachers and their unions will go on strike demanding that the government tax more people to give them more money.
This is the reality of public schools ad this problem is not just in Ontario it’s a global reality that I don’t see changing anytime soon. Only a voucher system can change or alter this, but that’s unlikely to happen in Ontario anytime soon. One of the reasons I think Canadians, namely smart Canadians aren’t having children is because there’s no way in hell they’re going to put their children in a public school. Personally I think putting a child in the public school system is cruel. As a parent I want control over how my child is being educated and with every passing law the public education system is stripping that away from parents.
Well, another day another law.
Interesting times ahead.
