Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah @ChiefNish Didn’t call D’Andre Campbell family after Police killing – June 13, 2020,
Although when George Floyd’s brother spoke with Donald Trump, he was clearly politically, Donald Trump still spoke with the most outspoken member of George Floyds family. On the flipside Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah (Peel region is part of the Greater Toronto area) took more of a political road to addressing the police killing of
George Floyd opting instead for an impersonal news release.
Below is a preview of what Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah who I assume either immigrated to Canada or had family who immigrated to Canada from Sri Lanka said in response to the killing of D’Andre Campbell
“We’d be foolish to think there’s no racial bias in any police agency,” Chief Duraiappah said.
“I think implicit bias is one of those things that exist in every environment and that’s the whole point of acknowledging that […] I can’t, as a Chief, build resiliency and break apart all those building blocks that lead to the lack of awareness, if we don’t acknowledge it first.”
I understand emotionally how the Campbell family who are the victims in all of this are feeling, but there are two things I’m struggling, the first being defunding the police when in my opinion there’s a whole lot more that I would defend in Ontario cities first prior to defunding the police, and the second is social services, because as many fathers know, idleness is the devils’ playground.
There are a whole lot of government rules and regulations in Canada like the minimum wage as an example that are assisting in making it harder for low skilled people to find an entry-level job that would help them to make more money and be more of a contributor to society, furthermore, low skilled laborers can make a lot of money in the later stages of their lives, because their experience will in time demand them a higher wage.
There are lots of regulations to become a trades professional in Ontario, in many Ontario High Schools as an example a lot of young men won’t even be introduced to a trade, yet at the same time Justin Trudeau leaves the borders wide open and the media in Canada can’t wait to post numbers that show that jobs are being left vacant in Canada.
I write about the minimum wage because it and many other government regulations help to create the health crisis in Ontario because there are a lot of men in Ontario with a lot of time on their hands, these men haven’t been able to hold jobs, they can’t buy a house, they feel hopeless and a cop or a social worker can’t fix 20+ years failed government policies in a short verbal altercation.
Making matters worse is that because there are so many so-called visual minorities in top government positions when given the platform most of these government law enforcement leaders are taking the easy way out, thereby creating a blame culture within the ranks of yet another government agency.
Similar to RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki who I believe is or identifies as a White Woman, Nishan Duraiappah took the easy way out, he didn’t support his fellow officers, instead, he found a way to align his message with current Leftist political talking points which points the blame at racism.
Being that the Greater Toronto Area is multicultural all Canadians should be extremely happy to know that we have some of the fewest police-related shootings per capita in North America. I should also point out that Toronto’s homicide rate in 2018 was higher than New York’s.
Now, I would argue this is happening because of our immigration policies, but it’s mainly happening in my opinion because our political leaders for the most part are cowards. I personally thought it was cowardly what Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah did, he threw his fellow officers under the bus and was clearly too scared to call or the Campell family or get someone to call the family, which, for me would anger me, if I found myself in a similar situation.
This shooting incident happened in April 2020 and quite frankly based on the handling by Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah and the Politically motivated Black Lives matter protests happening all over the world, I can’t blame the Campell family for trying to make sure their voices are heard.
But in all of this, I hope people see the importance of leadership in times like this because lack of leadership is the main reason why right now, people all over the world are painting a narrative that Black people are being shot by police intentionally simply because they’re black!
There is little to no pushback from the political narrative being pushed by Black Lives Matter and we can’t forget that the main killer of black people are criminal blacks! In the event, police reform occurs it ill be law-abiding blacks and others in society who will more than likely be targeted by criminals who will know what the cops can and can’t do to them, furthermore and I’ve written about this before, criminals in Toronto also know how many years in prison they’re likely to serve on good behavior prior to them breaking the law.
In the case of D’Andre Campbell, he was breaking no law, but this case seems more about possible negligence and not necessarily about the cops killing black people. Even the Campell family said this the problem if you read into the story below is the handling of it by Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah.
I personally don’t think he handled the situation properly. He gets the big bucks for a reason and because he, in my opinion, was lackadaisical and then the George Floyd killing happened, all of a sudden the D’Andre Campbell family has all the fuel they need to make a preventable domestic problem a political problem.
Even in sales, you’re told to follow up with your the people you serve, yes of course, it’s a hard call to make, of course visiting the homes of a grieving family is difficult, but as a leader, it’s your job to take the initiative even if you’re not directly responsible.
Interesting times ahead!
