Quebec’s economy is not booming unemployment rate unchanged at 4.9%, Real Estate Bubble – August 10, 2019,
With the economic downturn becoming more and more apparent in Canada, the Left-leaning news outlets leading up to the election are going to do any and everything necessary to get Justin Trudeau back in the office. You have to remember that until the name “Trudeau” got back into politics Canadians had, for the most part, dumped the Liberals party.
The reality that the NDP until Ryan Meili, Greg Selinger and Rachel Notley became premiers of their provinces could have made a serious push to make Jagmeet Singh the Prime Minister, but what happened is Democratic Socialism the NDP was peddling was so economically destructive that most of Canada have swung back in the Conservatives favor.
In Ontario, Kathleen Wynne’s aggressive vote-buying was so apparent that she lost in a landslide and since her loss, Leftism in Canada is now on a steep decline. If Justin Trudeau loses there’s a very real reality that 8 years of Conservative dominance could be in the making, adding fuel to the fire is People’s Party of Canada, now if the Conservatives become the dominant Federal and Provincial party in Canada, and the People’s Party of Canada even becomes a distant third place, we’re talking about a serious National shift in Politics, that could make the Liberals a fringe Leftist political party.
If Justin Trudeau loses this upcoming election, chances are he will be labeled as the worst Prime minister in Canadian HISTORY. If Justin Trudeau loses this upcoming election in a landslide , the Liberals will have to rebrand themselves, yes it’s really that serious, Leftist all over Canada know it, unfortunately for Jagmeet Singh the Liberals hijacked the NDP platform, the NDP and Liberals have been aligned on almost every political issue, so much so that the NDP has been forced to go to the extreme Left to standout.
This is honestly could be the death knell for the NDP and rebuilding for the Liberals. When working people are scared about losing their jobs, this is serious and I have to remind the reader that in Ontario anyone that was alive to remember Bob Raes NDP party, remembers how they felt when Bob Rae was premier, Bob Rae scared the crap out of working-class people, now Alberta, Manitoba, B.C and Saskatchewan al know what NDP leadership feels like it’s unlikely that the NDP and their democratic socialism model will ever become the majority in Canada again.
How this coincides with the Financial Post article I point to below, is that the actual words from the Statscan website regarding Quebec stated the following:
StatsCan Provincial overview
Following two months of little change, employment in Quebec rose by 17,000 in July, with notable increases in manufacturing and construction. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.9% as more people participated in the labour market. Year over year, employment in Quebec increased by 96,000 (+2.3%).

Now on the flip side, the Financial Post via Kevin Carmichael wrote an article with the following title?
Now, I follow the Quebec economy, because what’s often ignored regarding equalization payments, which is something Kevin Carmichael brings up in his post is what equalization payments actually do. Equalization payments don’t prop up Quebec’s Private Sector, equalization payments pay for Quebec’s Public sector, namely, public sector employees and I guess public sector items provided by the private sector. But the big thing on the list is equalization payments paying for Quebec’s Public Sector. Unless a Quebec Premier is going to push for Austerity measures this problem will never get solved and I’d like to also point out that most of the manufacturing and construction jobs in Quebec are coming as a result of the Quebec’s new housing boom, namely their Condo boom.
Now, if its one thing I know about Quebec, unaffordable housing will be challenged by Leftists as Quebec is known for its affordable housing, in fact, part of the reason Quebec is so broke revolves around their rent control laws. So this is definitely something that I think will blow up in their face, because Quebecers are for the most part are renters, it’s something they take pride in and it’s hard for me to imagine a housing boom not being challenged by the socialists in Quebec. Maybe I’m wrong? But I have a hard time imagining that things in Montreal will get as bad as they are in Toronto or Vancouver. I’ll wait and see, but Quebec could be the province that triggers the Canadian housing crash.
I’m not going to waste time writing anything else on this topic because I just wanted to illustrate how the media tries to fudge the job numbers. Now to be fair the article below written by Andy Blatchford of the Financial Post is more aligned with the StatsCan data
Just to put things in their proper perspectives, minimum wages are up all over Canada and if you’re unaware of how minimum wages work, not only do people who were making less than the minimum wage get a pay increase, but the people who made more money than the minimum wage prior to the hike also get a pay raise.
Let me give you an example. If minimum wages were $12 per hour, and then a Liberal Politician says lets raise minimum wages to $14 an hour, the people who were making $14 an hour prior to the minimum wage hike now have to be paid at least $16-$17 per hour, otherwise, those employees will quit or they’ll be disgruntled and search for another higher paying job.
That’s how minimum wages work and it often goes overlooked by politicians why manufacturing suffers when the government artificially pushes wages up with the minimum wage regulation.
Because it’s important to remember that consumers/customers aren’t going to necessarily pay higher prices and in most instances, business owners have to answer to shareholders or their bank if they’re using a bank loan to finance their business. I personally stopped going to Wendy’s, because their prices are too high, now I make my own burgers, that’s what happens when businesses raise their prices, customers change their behavior and if it’s manufacturing, this is how China and other countries take jobs away. Anyway, I’ll stop here, because I can write about this topic for days.
Interesting times ahead
