I regret voting for Doug Ford, I should have voted for the Libertarian Candidate, Doug Ford says, and if cases keep rising, we may see another shutdown – September 15, 2020,
When Maxime Bernier started the Peoples Party of Canada after I did some deep detailed analysis of m own voting patterns I cam to the conclusion that I would no longer vote to win. I had been voting to win for a long time. I should have voted for the Libertarian Party several times, but I passed on them and voted for the Conservatives, I justified this because I told myself that I didn’t think the Libertarian Party worked hard enough for my vote.
But as per usual the Conservative Party let me down again. I’m not sure what planet Doug Ford is on, but no matter how he responds to this pandemic Leftists are going to try to destroy him. I’m hopeful that maybe he has a market plan to maybe cut regulations when the pandemic dies down, but that’s only me trying to be optimistic.
The bottom line is Doug Ford and the Conservative Party of Canada is trying to pander to the Leftists. The teachers’ unions are harassing him, the public sector workers, in general, are harassing him and a lockdown is the simpler way for him to avoid both the media’s wrath as well as his wrath of fellow public sector comrades.
If Doug Ford shuts down the economy yet again, the public sector teachers’ unions will leave him alone. We all know the teachers union in Ontario do not want teachers returning to work without money, well a shut down definitely benefits them and Ford.
A lot of Leftists in Ontario don’t want to work, let’s call it for what it is, and the shut down gives them an excuse to stay home during the fall and possibly the winter season, I assume in Doug Ford’s mind this is a win, win situation.
If the economy crashes, Doug Ford can do what Justin Trudeau will do which will be to blame COVID-19, in general politically, another shut down I believe in Fords mind equates to him looking like the friendly Conservative who cares about the people.
Politically, it appears to be a smart move, but morally it has its consequences. I wrote way back when Stephen Harper was Prime Minister that Stephen Harper pandering to the Real Estate lobbyist was a horrible idea that made Justin Trudeaus’ free stuff for everybody campaign promises far more effective had Stephen Harper simply stayed true to his Conservative roots.
If the Democracy is dumb enough to vote in the spendthrift, eventually the democracy will figure out for itself that the spendthrift and their ideas are leaving them poorer. The mistake the Conservatives make is assuming that pandering will make the voter like them more.
No, Donald Trumps populism politics worked for him because he was a breath of fresh air. Eventually, even Trump supporters will get tired of Donald Trump also, but Trumps populism works because he doesn’t pander to anyone. Every time Trump says uses the words ‘China-Virus’ I personally shake my head in disappointment, however, this is part of the authenticity of Donald Trump.
Who cares what people like me think, as a leader, you have to be consistent, you have to lead from the front, everyone knows Doug Ford isn’t being authentic, he’s pandering, he’s playing politics, he’s abandoning his base of supporters. Stephen Harper knew there was a housing problem, but he also knew that keeping the housing market propped up was popular amongst middle-class swing voters, something the POLL-DATA showed.
Well, unfortunately for Harper free crap was popular for a lot of Canadians, and Trudeau the sweet-shop-salesmen offered voters a lot of free stuff and voters comparing the two offers left kicked Stephen Harper to the curve. Doug Ford is setting himself up for the same fate.
Lockdowns are definitely not popular with young people, they’re not popular with Conservatives, which means he’s specifically targeting that centre-Left vote, which I’d argue isn’t a smart idea.
Remember socialist Sweden? Everyone talks about how bad those socialists are, well supposedly socialist Sweden which by the way has been shrinking the size of its government. Socialist Sweden didn’t do the lockdowns, the Swedes have been reforming their economy for years now and their 10+ million people have reaped the rewards.
In Sweden they have COVID-19 related deaths, meaning that just because someone dies with COVID-19 doesn’t mean that their died because of COVID-19. Their death toll is similar to Canada’s a little higher per capita, but they’ve done zero lockdowns!
Try and keep that in perspective when you read the article below. Now similar to Canada, the U.S federal government is powerless to tell States what to do, but it’s clear that Trump if given the choice would have zero lockdowns, while Joe Biden and in Canada Justin Trudeau would.
That will always be the perception when it comes to Left vs. Right politics, people on the Right simply look at the data, COVID-19 isn’t ebola, yes it’s deadly but it’s not the Spanish Flu, it appears to be targeting a specific demographic and as a leader, when you see the obvious, you weigh the pros and cons and accept the political outcome.
Basing your actions on the political ramifications puts your morality into question. I’ll support Doug Ford where I can, but I can’t support him on this one! The Conservative Party of Canada as Maxime Bernier described is morally corrupt!
Interesting times ahead!
