Speak For Yourself, Mark Carney: Canada’s Current Prime Minister Calls for a Two-State Solution
Prime Minister Mark Carney has once again made a public statement that, in my view, was unnecessary and out of touch with reality. To put things in perspective, Israel has approximately 169,500 active-duty personnel across its army, navy, and paramilitary forces, with an additional 465,000 in reserve. These troops are highly trained and battle-tested.
By comparison, Canada’s military—the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)—has an authorized strength of about 71,500 regular members and 30,000 in the Primary Reserve. In reality, Canada is currently short of these targets, with about 63,500 regular personnel and 23,000 reservists.
This context matters. If, hypothetically, the United States collapsed tomorrow, Israel could easily overpower Canada militarily in a matter of days. Most Canadians have never even handled a firearm, let alone lived under constant threat of missiles or war. And yet, our Prime Minister feels emboldened to lecture a country like Israel on how to conduct itself in the middle of an existential conflict.
Mark Carney recently accused Israel of violating international law, posting on X:
“Canada condemns the Israeli government’s failure to prevent the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian disaster in Gaza.”
“Canada supports a two-state solution which guarantees peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians.”
These are the same talking points we hear repeated across Europe, particularly in countries where left-wing governments rely heavily on the Muslim vote. In many Middle Eastern nations, Muslims themselves often want little to do with the Palestinian leadership, but in Western countries these same groups become emboldened, finding a political stage for their grievances.
Israel, unlike Canada, lives in a war zone. Its survival depends on decisive action. For Canada—a country that has the privilege of peace, open land, and relative safety—to issue moral instructions from afar demonstrates a dangerous detachment from reality.
It’s also worth pointing out that many of these “international courts” Canada leans on are dominated by countries with vested ideological interests, including Islamic blocs and communist-leaning states, all of which seek to diminish the sovereignty of nations they oppose.
Faith, Governance, and Perspective
Christianity teaches us that God is the ultimate judge of nations. While God will indeed hold Israel accountable for its actions, it is not Canada’s job to bully Israel into a political settlement. Wars are tragic, but decisions about survival are for those in the conflict to make.
As a Christian, I reject the idea of intervening in conflicts with simplistic solutions. Are we going to create a “two-state solution” for Nigeria, where Christians are being slaughtered by Islamic extremists? Of course not. That’s why Canada should stay out of foreign entanglements.
Borders and territories, in the end, belong to God—not politicians. History shows that when nations try to impose man-made solutions, particularly through socialist and globalist agendas, they end up creating more chaos. Ethiopia, for example, has been steadily losing territory for decades. Once a proud and biblically significant nation, it is now landlocked and weakened. Much of this stems from its embrace of socialist policies, which ultimately invite both internal decay and external exploitation.
Socialism, at its core, is about control. It doesn’t stop at one country’s borders. It seeks to control people everywhere, and it cannot function unless everyone is forced to comply. In contrast, Christianity revolves around voluntary choice—freely given, not coerced.
Final Thoughts
Mark Carney speaks for himself and those who voted for him, but not for me. He does not speak for all Canadians. I have no interest in seeing Canada try to micromanage global conflicts or force its worldview on nations that live with realities we cannot even begin to imagine.
True Christianity teaches that power gained by oppression will ultimately be taken away. Land can be conquered, but if injustice rules over that land, God Himself will deal with it.
