Surplus of Toronto high school teachers declared, because most Torontonians would rather avoid Most Public Schools – April 08, 2019,
Because I like many other adults would rather our children attend private schools, there are schools in Toronto with a surplus of teachers, I’m certain this problem exists all over Ontario, but in Toronto, majority of the high school teachers are extremely bad educators, bascially doing just enough to get paid. Most parents learn about the decaying education system in Ontario from Junior Public School and Middle school. If parents have the money they’ll typically pull their kids out of the public school system at or around middle school, if tey don’t what most parents will do is close their eyes and hope for the best.
Let me point out, that there are exceptional students as well as exceptional teachers at Public Schools, however don’t conflate exceptional public school teachers with your average public school teacher. Most of the teachers possibly via constraints? do just enough to get paid and will strike or use collective bargaining in the event they feel that they should be given more money or resources from tax payers. It should also be noted that most public school teachers pay little attention to preparing children for the real world.
Now again, I’m not sure if Publis School teachers are limited because of their cirriculums and regualtions they’ve bound themselves too or if it’s simple laziness, I’m not sure, but Public school teachers on average take zero responsibility for the failures of many of our children. Now, why this is a problem is because they’re PUBLIC school teachers, they’re raising the next generation of students and they’re making demands not afforded to those of use working and teaching in the Private Sector. If you make a mistake in the Private sector you address it or face bankruptcy, when Public School teachers make mistakes, like consuming a higher paycheck everytime the Public grants them more money for the children they’re supposed to serve, they minimize it and use collective bargaining to not only go on strike, but also as an excuse to do just enough not to get fired.
I’ve seen and experienced it for myself, unless you’re a new immigrant to Canada, you’ll see it for yourself, many public scool teachers simply don’t want to be bothered and the only time they seem to have passion is when it comes to collective bargaining. If it’s time for the teachers to get more stuff from the Government, you’ll see a passion inside them you’ve never seen before, they’ll have a new sense of purpose a new sense of vigor meanwhile the students are having to wait to be educated. Of course some of the children love being off school when the teachers strike, but the teachers via their public union force the government to yeild to their demands.
Now, in a voucher system which Doug Ford is pushing for, whic allows school choice, forces teachers to care. School vouchers aren’t only about creating competition amongst teachers, it’s forcing them to care, because as many parents find out, most teachers don’t care about the children, but at the very least they should care about their livilhoods. I mean let’s be honest here, they’re teachers it’s not like they’re doing pysical labor, delivering babies, lifting boxes all day, doing construction, plumbing, assembly line work etc.
No, they’re teaching, often times they’re sitting reading, writing in a place of priviledge in many ways. Getting paid to teach? Summers off, in many instances, Are you kidding me? Do you know how many people would love to have that job? Yet most public school teachers only pay attention to what’s wrong, how much more money and job security they can get while the students and the children they’re supposed to serve get the short end of the stick. I personally tink Doug Ford is doing an excellent job, let the market decide the need for public school teachers.
Interesting times ahead.
