Public pharmacare will require high taxes, former federal budget watchdog warns
Well, when one government health care program is failing, isn’t it a great idea to create another? This Liberal government has gone too far left if you ask me. The real problem heading our way are huge increases in the healthcare and dwindling doctors. The last time I got a physical from a doctor it was abundantly obvious to me that he could really care less about doing his job. All the doctor wanted was his $100+ and for me to get the hell out of his office.
Canadian doctors, for the most part, don’t have to compete and because Canadians feel entitled to health care services a lot of Canadians don’t consider the real costs of health. Our health system in Canada is so out of whack that when there is a crisis, chances are the government will just ignore it or minimize its importance. The reason why there’s a call for Pharmacare is that a lot more people are retiring broke. Birthrates are also down in Canada, thus making us more reliant on immigration, furthermore, the labor pool for healthcare professionals is drying up domestically.
This is not to say there aren’t a lot of students that want to be in healthcare, what I’m referring to are the people that will remain health care professionals into their older ages. Being a healthcare professional is hard work and it’s getting more competitive. Because the U.S health care market is more competitive, I’ve heard from a lot of Canadian health care professionals that are taking their talents elsewhere. Canada in many ways, with all these regulations, is setting itself up for a massive brain drain in so many different industries. Immigrants might start using Canadian education to use their newly found skills in a place that will pay them more.
The only people that seem to be getting rich quick in modern Canada are the Politicians and the well connected. The rest of Canadians seem to be just above the poverty line as costs for everything continue to rise. The best thing that could happen to Canada in the coming years would be an economic crash. Prior to Keynesian economics, markets would rise and markets would fall. This was good because it gave humanity sudden wake-up calls, like hey we’re doing something wrong here, let’s change it.
The downside to these economic crashes were some of the characters that would emerge from the wreckage, con men, scammers, thieves, bank failures etc. Businesses closing their doors overnight.
I’ve personally never been anti-fiat-money. But I am anti-over regulation, I think the government should be allowed to have it’s own money, I just think that other forms of barter like Bitcoin and Gold should be allowed to be used also. This would make money more competitive, this would also limit the governments powers and allow the people to opt for an alternative when the government is spending beyond it’s means. Furthermore, this would help peoples economic IQ’s
The way Canada is economically structured, we’re basically a corporatist nation, Canadian tax payers protect the big industry and if you look at the patterns of Canada’s big three political parties they’re all setup to benefit from corporatism. It happens all the time that a Liberal or Conservative is hired and they get a law passed that helps their buddies get rich and of course, their buddies have some stock waiting for them under the table.
If you’re wondering how Politicians sleep at night, they do so based, on the feedback of their supporters. Remember when you were in school and you had your gang of friends and you all looked out for each other, and as long as one of us in the group didn’t do something that was too crazy we’d have each other’s backs until the end? Remember that? Well! That’s how Politicians operate. Government doesn’t make drugs, they only subsidize the private companies that do.
What Pharacare does is it limits what drugs you can take. Based on the Pharmacare model everybody in the program has to take governnment drugs and if someone dies from these government subsidized drugs, the government can be sued, these are unforseen costs when that government will have to swallow if takes this burden on. Be careful Canada, you’re asking your goverment to do a lot.
Interesting times ahead
