Ted Cruz(52) Would Likely Beat Ron DeSantis(44) if Both Ran To Become President – May 3, 2023,
Currently, Donald Trump is 76 years old, and this will likely be the last chance Donald Trump will have to be President of the United States. So in 2024, it’s currently expected that Donald Trump will lead the Republican Party, but post-Trump win, lose, or draw, one can’t ignore prior Republican frontrunner Ted Cruz who still sounds more PRESIDENTIAL than Ron DeSantis.
Ted Cruz is not a foolish man, nor is Ted Cruz (in my opinion) a populist. Ted Cruz is a legal scholar that has a fundamental comprehension of the U.S. Constitution. There are still a lot of conservatives politicians who haven’t signed onto populism, and one could argue that Ron DeSantis is feeding off of the energy created by Donald Trump.
Ted Cruz, on the flipside, has felt the wrath of Donald Trump “Lying Ted Cruz” was a slogan Donald Trump used to defeat Ted Cruz in the 2016 Republican primaries. Unlike most politicians like Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney, who still clearly holds a grudge against Donald Trump, Ted Cruz treats his past with Donald Trump as water under the bridge; you’d likely forget the two went to battle if you listen to Ted Cruz, who FREQUENTLY credits and champions Trump’s ACHIEVEMENTS.
In political ages, Cruz and Ron DeSantis are close in age; about ten years separate the two, but again I’d argue that Ted Cruz not being a POPULIST helps and doesn’t hurt him. I think Ron DeSantis populism is a hindrance in the future, at least when it comes to running for president. I’m of the belief that Ron DeSantis shouldn’t run for president in 2024, but I wouldn’t blame him if he did.
Being considered for President is FLEETING, and I’m not sure that in a post-Trump world that if Ted Cruz runs for President that Ron DeSantis will be able to beat him. Ron DeSantis still sounds regional, whereas Ted Cruz speaks FEDERAL politics. Both would be good for the country overall, but head to head, I think Ted Cruz would be a nightmare for Ron DeSantis.
Because Ron DeSantis does not use filler words, I think Ron DeSantis could actually upstage Donald Trump, who is often unhinged on stage when things aren’t going his way, but Ted Cruz is accustomed to being hated and not hated in the manner Donald Trump is hated. Most of the hate Donald Trump receives is SELF-INFLICTED.

Donald Trump often starts unnecessary arguments to draw attention to himself, whereas Ted Cruz is hated because of his acumen and high IQ. The weakness of Ted Cruz is that he might bore you to sleep if the knowledge he has is not presented to a GENERAL audience in an easily digestible manner. Meaning Ted Cruz for president would simply equate to dumbing it down for the audience.
On the flip side, Ron DeSantis, a genius in his own right, has built a reputation of being the darling of the Republican Party. Ron DeSantis could lose his darling status if he runs against Donald Trump, but this might actually be helpful for Ron DeSantis in the future, as Ron DeSantis will get to experience what it feels like to fight a truly uphill battle.
The reason I give the edge currently to Ted Cruz is that Ted Cruz currently is more polished than Ron DeSantis.
