Google’s losing market share has little to do Ai, and everything to do with political affiliations. Reddit has always been trash. Sure, there are some good Reddit threads; you can’t bash everything about Reddit, but for the most part, Reddit is being used to SPAM the internet, similar to how every social media platform spams the internet.
What INITIALLY made Google unique was its dedication to NOT censoring most information, which made Google appear to be NON-Political, but since Barack Obama, Google got lumped into the social media groups.
I personally never thought Google and Facebook were in the same league. Facebook has been trash for a long time; however, it’s popular. Facebook is replaceable, whereas it WAS hard to replace Google.
Baidu is the largest search engine in China, but it’s OPENLY censored, so nobody takes it seriously with Reddit, it’s CORPORATIZED, so ft people looking for reliable information, we stay far away from Reddit, in fact, I get “triggered” when see Reddit posts show up on the top page of Google.
Now, why would Google reward Reddit? The answer is simple: it’s election time when I’m writing this, and Reddit is OPEN about its censorship, but a lot of its tech-savvy users don’t seem to care.
Now, Google has the ability to pivot, which I assume it will sometime in the future, but at least for now, Google by rewarding Reddit, can claim it’s not actually pro-censorship but instead is merely catering to the “demands” of the market.
In case you were wondering, yes, a lot of the Reddit posts are GEARED towards those users being ranked on Google, so they can make money. Now, you’d be stupid if you think Google doesn’t know what’s going on, ofcourse Google knows what’s going on, as of the time I’m writing this, there’s an election cycle; this is a much cheaper way for Google to claim it’s not being biased.
Yes, a lot of the Reddit spammers absolutely know what is being CENSORED and what’s being rewarded by Google. And ofcourse, Google knows it too, but you see how this can be used to say Google is not biased.
