Toronto Community Housing Doesn’t Know How to Spend Its money Correctly – April 14, 2019,
There’s an assumption by most collectists that business people are interchangable, there’s also an assumption by collectivists that if Government has the ability to bail out or subsidize a private business that, it makes that’s business sustainable. This is ofcourse why I’ve been warning Canadians that if our housing and rental markets ever crash we’re going to have a really hard time fixing it. The creation of CMHC as a mortgage insurer created a problem that was completely avoidable. that problem is affordable housing, now the private sector would be more than glad to fix the housing shortage problems if the Government wasn’t incentivising homeownership.
But in modern day Canada if you’re a developer why would you build rental housing with all its rules and regualtions when you could instead build a crappy condo that has less rules and less regulations? Furthermore Condos euate to storage of wealth for investors and let’s be honest with a lower loonie and people in places like China wanting to get the hell out of that technocratic shit hole why wouldn’t they want to purchase Canadian property, on the cheap. It’s a win, win for developers, real estate speculators and foreign investor looking for place to park their cash. It’s important to remember that all housing related problems in Canada were caused by the Government. In a market economy, what’s normal are price fluctuations prices go up, prices go down based on supply and demand, however if you look at any chart in Canada prices have been rising, diping every so often by doing a lot of rising, to the point now that rental prices in all parts of Canada make absolutely no sense.
Most of te pricing for rentals in Canada are based on a price of a mortgage and because developers are being incentivised to build condos, there’s an ever growing rental supply shortage. You couldn’t come to Toronto look around and think there’s a housing shortage, because there’s not, in many parts of the GTA there empty condos everywhere. You can go online and find tons of rentals, however they’re over priced and what’s often being said in the mainstream media is that there’s a shortage, which there is, but the problem was created by the government and one of the main problems government has is managing Community Housing.
Because guess what happens in Community Housing projects? Destruction lots and lots of destruction and because it’s government housing, the so-called poor people who live their expect the government to fix the problems IMMEDIATELY! Even if the problems were caused by the tenants, what’s worse is that because most Government people are horrible at doing business, they often purchase important items of Community Housing from private businesses who can then inflate their replacement part prices. Because it’s important to understand that when you leave housing to the private sector, becaus it’s a profit driven market, the private business owner will think ahead and not make the assumption that all Politicians make which is assuming that a particular company will be around when a particular item like an elevator as an example breaks down.
The stupidity of having a Toronto Community Housing CEO is that you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t. If the Toronto Community Housing CEO is smart, what’s going to happen is that the workers under him who are usually unionized will demand more money, which again causes Community Housing prices to rise and if the Toronto Community Housing CEO is stupid he’s going do stupid shit like buy things on cheap so the building will have more problems down the road. Toronto Community Housing is a total shit show and the reality of housing is if you can’t afford to live in Toronto? Move AWAY!
People gravitate to Toronto because for many, they want to be where the action is, well, if you can’t afford the action you shouldn’t live here, there’s adoquate public transportation to get to Toronto if you work here, but if you don’t work here and you’re on welfare you shouldn’t be allowed to decide where you’re going to live. Yes, I’m against government welfare but this is a democracy and idiots are allowed to vote, so at the very least if you’re a smart Mayor, you shouldn’t be inviting poverty into your city.
The government is incapable of dealing with housing. You can’t win at Community Housing because you’re rewarding bad behavior. One of the major reasons why I’m against minimum wages is because how do you measure poverty if the government artificially raises the barrier to entry? How do we know the true value of housing if the government via CMHC is granting mortgage insurance to select individuals and entities? who then pass all those costs onto renters?
The free market solves these housing problems by pushing bad business people out of the market. The government via CMHC and Rental price controls rewards everyone except for the new rental consumer.
Anyway, I always make sure that I leave this information available for consumption, because when this market crashes I want people to know the exact reason why.
