At the NATO summit, Trudeau won the argument. Did it matter?

Justin Trudeau wins yet another verbal political Pyrrhic War with Trump but at what cost to Canadians? Trump is paving the way for a different political agenda in America and I’m not sure the elites in the Canadian political class are comprehending hat’s happening. If Trump were to die today, he would be mortared by his followers, Trump supporters aren’t going away any time soon and I don’t think Canada gets it yet.

Trump has a lot of support from conservatives in the United States, there are a lot of Conservatives that don’t agree with Donald Trump entirely but they’re sympathetic to what he’s trying to do. Canada has a historic political figure name Pierre Trudeau, Pierre Trudeau was by no means perfect, but he galvanized support but his actions. Canadians to this very day still praise Pierre Trudeau for his socialist policies, these people will vote for anyone whose policies resemble Trudeau and for the most part these are the people that make the Liberal Party of Canada a force to be reckoned with in every political level.

Well, I recommend Canadians look at Trump in a similar fashion, Trump supporters, for the most part, aren’t going anywhere especially after the NATO summit. Like Justin Trudeau stated Trump has been consistent, which means his message is getting embedded into American voters. This isn’t to say that Trump doesn’t have his detractors, all great political figures have strong passionate opposition, but Trump supporters at least as of July 2018 back their president and are even willing to fight to the death for him.

The ideas of these types of individuals don’t go away easily, their lasting residue in many peoples minds turn into a movement, which all future presidents of the United States will have to address. Sure in the immediate sense people on the left and the right side of the political debate may disagree with how Trump governs but his supporters do not care and the more smug Trudeau behaves the more Trump supporters will resent him.

Canada, these tariffs imposed by Trump on Canada don’t have to go away, as I stated in a previous post, if China folds and gives into the U.S’s reasonable demands regarding stealing intellectual property rights well… Canadian exports only account for 2% of the U.S economy which for the most part is still pretty open. If Trump closes the U.S’s ability to be an open market, this could last for a long time.

Trump has been doing rally after rally after Rally implanting his views on trade with his supporters, this could be Trumps lasting legacy that all future U.S presidents will have to instill into their economic political platform. Protect U.S workers from outside entities that don’t engage in fair trade practices with the United States. This is becoming a thing and Trudeau’s administration is excusing it as if it’s going to go away.

Interesting times ahead.
