After Trump says America is ‘full,’ Vermont says ‘not us’, protectionism, racism and stunted economic development – April 29, 2019,
There’s a cost for everything and the number one cost for protectionism and isolation is typically a lack of development, it’s not always the case as there have been a lot of homogeneous societies Japan, China Germany, Switzerland come to mind that does well economically and doesn’t require immigrants, however there always comes a time where old ways of thinking are put into question. Now, without a welfare state, typically foreign workers would be more welcomed to do the jobs nobody else is willing to do, however, what’s become the norm in many western derived cultures is that foreigners become a strain on the welfare system.
The numbers don’t lie, yes, some immigrants come to work and they work hard, but when they arrive their common behavior is to live beyond their means, and in many ways, who can blame them, in some instances the people who have been there for many generations are also living beyond their means. By living beyond your means, what I should say is having children that they need the government to raise and manage, a lot of migrants work and are willing to work, but at the same time they’re consuming more government resources than they’re contributing and this behavior has been common with foreigners migrating to the U.S.
Making matters worse are crime statistics, which is one of the reasons why East Asians have been used to explain why it’s not racism that’s at the core of people being opposed to immigration, it’s behavior. In America, the Blck or African America population has been used as pawns by the Democrat party to push for a surge in immigration, what always amazes me is their unwillingness to acknowledge that voting Democrat has actually made conditions worse for them and their communities. During Donald Trumps Presidential campaign I learned that Latino gangs were basically at war with black gangs, now from an outsiders perspective, if you’re a black gang and one of your main rivals are Latino gangs why would you want these Latino gangs to make the minority via mass immigration?
In the article that you can read below, a case is made in reference to migrant workers who came to America for a better life demanding minimum wages? This is why I’ve always written that minimum wages and government enforced price and/or wage controls are a bad idea. A minimum wage is a form of welfare, minimum wages aren’t based on any market fundamental, a government representative picks a number they deem is sufficient and thus a minimum wage is created. Minimum wages more than anything can destroy a City, State or Countries infrastructure. Because what a minimum wage is saying to an employer is that if you can’t pay our people at least this amount of money, don’t bother coming here.
Now, minimum wages typically do better in more larger developed States or Province because the wealth and investment is already there, where minimum wages have a damaging effect is in places like Vermont that has little to no investment based on a number of factors, which could include racism, protectionism, and isolationism. Do you see how this works yet? The Goldrush as an example fueled the Californian economy, a lot of people flocked to California, a lot of people also flocked to New York a lot of money and resources were invested in these two States which allowed them to push disastrous socialist policies that only now the people are beginning to see was disastrous. In the case of Vermont, they had no goldrush so there’s never been a reason for people to migrate, there, which is why in many regards, they have to basically provide incentives to bring people to the State.
People tend to vote with their feet and the truth is, regarding most Latin American countries is that they’re poor because of the socialist policies they espouse. Now, obviously, if you’re uneducated about economics, when you immigrate to the United States your assumption won’t be that it was your socialist policies that caused your country to be a hell hole, no you’ll assume, that it was a few corrupt individuals who caused the problems in Latin America and therefore you’ll assume that America is prosperous not because of their Republic and constitution, no, you’ll assume that America is rich by default and its wealth is unlimited, no matter how much welfare it redistributes to the so-called poor.
Most places would rather keep crime low and welfare controllable, Personally, I think most of these problems would be solved if welfare were abolished, it’s not like the world wasn’t progressing prior to the Great Society, Progression for all people has actually been slowing since the great society, digital cameras, solar power, the internet these inventions may have come to the market in the 2000s but some of these inventions have around for 100’s of years, what’s stopping and preventing human development and causing the most poverty is too much government intervention. GMO’s basically ended poverty, capitalism ended poverty, but you see if you look at the world from the lens of victim, you won’t see what’s right, instead, you’ll only see what’s wrong. Being that most people are lazy, instead of starting and working their behinds off at either starting a business or starting a charity, they instead go to the Government and say solve this problem for me. I need more money (which is a form of greed) so take more from those greedy rich people who sell things people want and redistribute that money to me.
Furthermore, I want the choice to work or not to work, plus I want a minimum wage if I’m an uneducated worker, if I’m not contributing to taxes, I still want to have the right to vote for more taxes, I’d like to grow the government, I’d like more social justice, I’d like more government employees protecting me from those evil white people that I keep moving closer and closer too and I want to proud of ancestors country of origin thereby pushing a similar political agenda that we had back home right here in these rich United States. It’s a recipe for disaster, is America full? well, it appears even the State the Bernier Sanders represents thinks so, I often wonder how Bernie Sanders would fair in Latino or Black majority run State.
