Trump’s steel tariff is raising prices for US manufacturers
This is in response to this video on the Fox News youtube channel:
Is this a flaw in free market? Isn’t this why the United States abandoned tariffs in the first place? The answer is yes, but Trump’s tariffs are based on China opening their markets up and respecting U.S intellectual property rights. So the better question to ask is, is America ready for the rocky road of the free market and the answer is we’re going to find out.
Now, the first thing I have to point out is that, there isn’t really a free market right now, unions still dominate the trades and unions demand higher wages. This is the one thing that Conservatives a like don’t like to deal with. This is why to this day people, conservatives too, still talk negatively about people like Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell. Minimum wages and Unions mean that the owners of companies have to pay their employees a particular wage and the moment the union hears that a steel company is more profitable today than it was yesterday it will push the company to pay its employees more money.
Now this is fine if there’s no outside competition, but it’s a disaster if America becomes protectionist. Now that Trump has at least in the short run provided some sort of protection for American steel companies they can safely raise their prices to a level that can keep outside competitors from entering the U.S market. That number will be the ceiling, and for now nobody knows what number that will be. Now if it, were a real free market system, what would happen instead is there would be more companies and less unions, in this day and age especially with technology where it is, unprofitable distribution businesses simply wouldn’t be there.
In business the idea is to always think big, as an individual you want to put yourself in a position of success, if you don’t your company goes bankrupt and that’s how it should be. It’s these artificial protectionist entities created by the government that suppress the economy. It’s the protectionist industries already in place that will make things interesting for the president. It’s important to note that there’s only so much Trump can do.
There is so much protectionism built into the system, built into people’s hearts and minds that they need to flush out before the greatest economic renaissance man has ever known can really take shape. Trump symbolizes hope that people can wake up from this trance their in. Liberation of thoughts, that the individual can do anything he or she sets their minds too without a ladder up from the government. Putting faith in your fellow man as opposed to faith into corruptible government officials. Testing theories of economic from a municipal level instead of a federal level. Before human beings can get to this place they need an awakening and that’s the major reason why I try not to be so hard on Donald Trump.
I mean think about this we have the internet, people are able to express themselves to the world. Look what China has done, they’ve blocked their people from experiencing West. That is so cruel, so evil, so demonic and they’re trying to push that onto us here in the Western World. Because leaders who used to be centrists have now become leftist the western world could be headed to a place where the government decides what your freedom of speech is, where the government creates an internet kill switch like what they have in China. Once that happens, it’s important to understand that it will lead to war. Without Liberty humans feel stuck, they feel angry, they will revolt and fight.
Leftists tend to be the most violent, they’re even violent when they’re in power because remember in a leftists mind the government is essentially God so if you dare speak out against a leftist dictator you must be jailed or put to death for treason. So with all Trump’s flaws I agree with him trying to make China open their markets up, it’s a path for China to escape communism, here in the west, the time is now to challenge old ideas like Unions and minimum wages. Every employer knows good work is hard to find, so if it’s a good employer he’s going to pay his hardworking employee pay bonuses and increased minimum wages. Gone are the days when there were only a handful of employers to choose from. In today’s world the only thing stopping an employment boom is the government and old ideas like minimum wage laws. In closing what Trumps doing isn’t perfect but it sure is a great start.
