Are Trump’s tariffs a danger to the Canadian Economy

Since Trump’s election, there have been economic myth’s circulating, some that favor Trump others that favor his opposition. Personally, I look at the world for what it is and write from a politically right-leaning perspective. There’s an article you may want to consider reading that you can click below:

https://www.thestar.com/business/2018/06/22/trumps-tariffs-are-a-clear-present-danger-to-canada.html – Trump’s tariffs are a clear, present danger to Canada

Based on the evidence presented to me, what Trump is trying to achieve is a competitive economic environment without borders and tariffs, in order to achieve this he has to disrupt the way things are done, he has to be the bad guy for a while, in actuality Donald Trump if he pulls this off may be the best economic president of all time.

With that said what are the cons to Trumps America? The cons to Trumps America is that people will be people and will interpret Trumps America from their own school of thought, if you listen to people on the extreme right and the extreme left what you’ll notice is that people primarily respond to Trump emotionally, trying to view Trump from their own perspective and using their platform to try to do what Trump is an expert at doing which is selling. People are trying to sell Trump the way they want to sell him.

As an example those of us on the far-right know tariffs are bad but no Libertarian has been able to make it to the white house or the head of any G7 nation as of yet, so even though they/we may have some points to what we believe in the reality is that the majority of people aren’t ready to hear that voice yet, in actuality most people don’t want to hear about smaller government, most people would rather use the government to get what they want.

On the far Left, the truth is there is no way for them to understand Trump because most people that enjoy the freedoms of the United States, Canada, U.K etc. that are on the far-left don’t understand how closely aligned their views are with Vladimir Putin. They don’t understand how closely aligned their views are with China and other countries that are ruled by dictators. Leftists are in many ways are globalists, they’re of the belief that we should just like those in power should remain in power, they’d prefer gradual change and are open to giving up their rights as long as the person selling them on giving up their rights does so in a bland unassuming demeanor.

So you can imagine the hysteria from Leftists when an Alpha male Donald Trump is presented to them, where do they start? How do they bring down his confidence? What can they say or do to make him change his mind? How do they get to the heart of what makes anything he’s saying sensible. People forget that the modern day Leftist puts little emphasis on the economy, their power comes from doing things for what they consider the greater good, meaning that they believe certain actions should be done because, in the end, they will make humanity better.

This is why Leftist prefer easy answers and are open to being dominated economically by big corporate entities which Leftists believe their governments should eventually control. On the right things are basically the opposite, on the right people want more options, more competition, more subjectivity, more liberty, more freedom, more of life in its natural state. So to those of us on the right who are honest with ourselves, we love and hate Trump.

What bothers me the most about Trump is what will happen when he leaves the white house. You can’t replace someone like that and if his views aren’t properly articulated a lot of people will use Trump’s name and his brand to further their own objectives, which in actuality could lead to a future with more socialism. when history looks back Trump’s tariffs, depending on the writer they may interpret Trump’s objectives in a different form, which could lead to other Leaders using Tariffs maybe to push for more socialism, the other thing about Trump’s tariff policies that will hurt America in a few years, the American people are still going to be the same American people. Meaning there still is a large segment of the American population that want something for nothing, there are still a lot of Americans that don’t want to work and the fact that these policies Trump is implementing might work may actually lead to America’s downfall in the not so distant future.

Based on what I’ve seen from Trump’s policies there’s a very good chance that the Canadian economy might crash, there’s a very good chance that global markets might crash, while the American standard of living goes up, what this will do however is force countries all over the world to change economic policies and if they do well, that’s when America will have to actually compete on the global scale. What do I mean by this you ask? Well, I mean Unions, minimum wages, entitlements, regulations and other costs to run a business. The last time America was economically great the American voters voted for The Great Society. Welfare spending during this period skyrocketed and peoples perspective on how things should be changed.

Ronald Reagan did what he could to change this type of thinking but the seeds had been planted and similar to Trump, Reagan spent more the Democrats before him. Trump is spending a lot of money to sell his America and all of us conservatives minded folks are watching closely, changing people’s minds is expensive and not explaining to them that the decisions they make going forward will be the only way to hold Trump’s America together. When I listen to most Trump supporters, the majority of them sound a lot like Democrats to me. Riding the Trump train not fully understanding that he’s making America competitive again. Not understanding that in a competitive environment you have to compete domestically and internationally and the moment you stop thinking the way Trump thinks is the moment you’ll end up in the same trap.

Trump’s tariffs aren’t a danger to Canada’s economy, Trump is a danger to Canadian regulations, Canadian entitlements, Canadian debt, Canadian manufacturing, the Canadian dollar, The Canadian government. Why? Because Canadian politicians have made a lot of promises that American’s are on the hook to pay for. Canadian socialism as it’s constructed today doesn’t work without us getting the better of the trade deals with America. If Canada was forced to open up its market the way America opened its market to us? As constructed now the Canadian economy would collapse. American companies would buy up Canada so fast it would make your head spin.

In Canada we are protectionist, we like bigger government, we do charge tariffs and alter regulations to better suit our needs, our health care system is bankrupt, our governments spend more than they make, our manufacturing sector is dwindling and our government is bloated. If Canada didn’t have the convenience of having the United States as a trading partner, we’d have to pay more soldiers to guard our border, we’d have to spend more on military defense, it’s almost a guarantee that our quality of life wouldn’t be where it is today and the truth is Canadians wouldn’t be so patient. Because the aforementioned would be political topics, there’s a good chance that wed be more aware of what makes our economy go. In Canada, the truth is all we have to worry about is the economy, it’s one of the reasons why as of late we’ve been getting the better of America on trade. My hope is that Canada will consider changing the way it communicates with its people. More honesty, a real exchanging of ideas so we can prepare our youth for the world that awaits them.

Interesting times ahead.
