U.S. unemployment rate drops to 8.4 percent in August, Canada’s unemployment rate at around 13.1% – September 4, 2020
Because I live in Toronto which is Canada’s most populous city, I can feel the energy that was zapped from GTA. I go out almost every day, I walk and I drive and I don’t see or experience much traffic while driving my car anymore. The streets in Toronto aren’t lonely, but things feel different, I feel like we’re at least a year way from normal and I think as winter approaches Canada will find a lot more people opting not to go to work if they don’t have too.
someone at CtvNews.ca wrote an article and buried in the middle of the article was the following:
The unemployment rate fell to 10.2 per cent in August compared with 10.9 per cent in July. Statistics Canada said the unemployment rate in August would have been 13 per cent had it included in calculations people who wanted a job, but didn’t look for work.

In America based on the numbers, I read unemployment is 9.8%, of course, governments want to play down the numbers so similar to Canada’s 10.2% fake unemployment number, America will say unemployment is 8.4% and trust me when I say that the Democrat Party really hates that number being that low, as that will be one of the areas Biden will try to use against Trump.

So unemployment in Canada is around 13% and in America, it’s about 10% conservatively, but what should be worrying to Canada is America was harder hit by Coronavirus than us, America does more testing per capita than us (I’m Canadian) and the Canadian province with the most unemployment in Canada right now is Alberta.
Edmonton’s August jobless numbers were the third highest in the country after Calgary (14.4) and Toronto (13.9).
Alberta’s unemployment rate remained among the highest in Canada in August

Why is there a cause for concern regarding the Alberta economy having these high unemployment numbers? Because most Albertans unlike the rest of Canada don’t work for the government nor in the past were many of them reliant on the government.
In America about 25% of their job growth came from government workers getting rehired, well in Canada most of the government workers weren’t fired, they’re simply being paid not to come to work. Furthermore, under Trudeau, the expansion of Government has been huge, so when you understand that Alberta is suffering the most economically it’s a sign that Canada’s private sector is in some serious problems.
Interesting times ahead!
