What a Headache, is there a profit to be made: Elon Musk and Twitter sound like a money pit drowning in POLITICS; is there a viable Free Speech Twitter business without CENSORSHIP? – December 11, 2022,
When I look at LinkedIn, currently owned by Microsoft, I see a VIABLE social media company catering to a particular niche that does NOT prioritize POLITICS. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if a large chunk of LinkedIn users have no political bias, and even if they did, likely those individuals are putting their careers AHEAD of their political ideologies.
On the flip side of LinkedIn is Twitter, which looks like a dumpster fire; I don’t use Twitter anymore; I still look at Twitter as introducing SPAM into my life; it’s an opinionated forum in which emotions are high, and most participants are trying TAME themselves and control their emotions in order NOT to get banned.

Even before Barack Obama and then Donald Trump reshaped Twitter into the politics-fueled media APP it is today; it was basically a place in which businesses used to get the word out about the business in the most SPAMMY of ways one could imagine. I’m not a fan of Facebook, but even Facebook, in my opinion, had more value than Twitter.
Twitter had to CENSOR Kayne West quickly because West was making a lot of insensitive remarks about an ENTIRE GROUP of people. “Ye” as he’s called, quickly exposed that Elon Musk is NOT ‘Free Speech Absolutist’ that he claims to be. Should a person be allowed to scream FIRE in a crowded theatre or use insensitive words when they feel like it? Should an individual be judged based on their own actions? Or should we play these collectivist games, in which one GROUP is pinned against another group?
Kayne West pretty much exposed that Twitter will have to continue CENSORING speech from particular GROUPS of people, which I believe is within their right as a PRIVATE company. I personally think Donald Trump was an absolute IDIOT for PROPPING UP Twitter. Trump could have dropped Twitter when he was at the heights of his powers, instead Trump gave Twitter the power to DROP HIM.
Sure, people might look at the situation differently. Still, I’ll put it to you like this if the Trump Organization, for whatever reason, allowed me to use their platform to push my own political agenda. When I was about to become President of my country, the Trump Organization decided they didn’t like me attaching my personal politics to the Trump Brand, I believe that the Trump Organization would be in their rights to not only kick me out of their organization but also use any means at their disposal to distance themselves from me, which could include smearing my name and allowing my opposition to smear my name.

It’s unfortunate, but that’s the world we live in, and that’s why it’s wise to build your own brand. When Ross Perot was running for president, Ross Perot paid for his own television advertisements; during the Ross Perot era, Ross Perot knew that he had to play by the rules of the then Mainstream media when he was pushing his personal political agenda.
Suppose you think the Ross Perot you saw on television was the raw and uncut version of Ross Perot. In that case, you’re sadly mistaken, Ross Perot had to play by the mainstream media rules, and yes, back in the 1990s, the mainstream media was engaging in political biases. Certain televisions stations in the 1990s were indeed considered Left-wing and others Right Wing, so when Ross Perot was running for President he had to be STRATEGIC.

Donald Trump, on the flip side, behaved in a manner you’d expect from a bully; if it came to my attention that Twitter (a private company) was engaging in biased political coverage, I wouldn’t BULLY Twitter into pushing my agenda; instead, I would leave taking my followers with me, remember that at the time, Trump was the PRESIDENT of the United States and even if you did not like him, if you’re into politics, it would be in your best interests to follow him.
It’s not to say people who loved Donald trump couldn’t still be active on Twitter, but Trump should have been smart enough to know that Twitter was leaning to the Left. Elon Musk, by the way, is still a pretty Left learning person; unfortunately for Musk, the Far Left has taken over the Democrat Party and the Far Left believes in CENSORSHIP for their political opposition, something most moderate Left Wingers are against.

This is what I’m referring to when I wrote the title of this post; where’s the profit in all of this? The real problem with Twitter from a profit and loss standpoint is finding that middle ground of CENSORSHIP. It’s more common to find deeper and more intelligent thinkers on the Political Right than on the Political Left.
Because of this reality, left-wingers REQUIRE a referee to prevent their social justice feelings from being hurt; Left-wingers are constantly moving the goal post as to what DEFINES hate speech, and this is the dumpster fire Elon Musk is fueling. Because when it comes to left Wingers, they go DIRECTLY to POLITICAL lawmakers to FORCE their ideals on society.

So as a ‘Free Speech Absolutist,’ what Elon is marching himself into are the ever-evolving REGULATING authorities, who I imagine, as I’m writing this post right now, are working hard to find inconsistencies in free speech to make regulations on free speech LAW. When they’re able to do this, Twitter will have to enforce these laws or SPEND MONEY to push back against it.
I forgot to mention that Twitter is currently headquartered in California. I assume relocating Twitter is inevitable, meaning that even some of Twitter’s best employees might leave the company once it’s relocated. I’m not saying Twiter can’t be a profitable company, but it looks like it’s going to have a lot of mounting costs to do it.
Interesting times ahead!
