Why winter tires should be mandatory in Canada | David Menzies – Ther Rebel.Media is NOT Far Right!
If you haven’t done so yet, please take the time to watch and listen to the video below, it was done by David Menzies of the Rebel.media, a person I admire but don’t always agree with.
Now, did you watch and listen to that video, did you notice the moderate stance David Menzies took on the subject of winter tires. Now, clearly he’s taking a compassionate stance on the subject of winter tires, which is fine, I’ve taken moderate stances on issues before also. As many people can read in my posts, that I’m not a big fan of a Gold or silver backed currency, I’ve stated plenty of times, I don’t care what backs currency, quite frankly I don’t care if my country even uses money, this goes against most Libertarians who think money should be backed by something tangible like Gold. As long as my government money can buy Gold I could care less what backs it, if I as a free person choose not to purchase gold while the value of my currency can buy Gold that is my fault if the currency I use collapses.
All that aside David Menzies in the video above appears to agree with Quebec that Winter Tires should be mandatory. Now, first of all if you live in Alberta, it would be wise to buy winter tires, but if you don’t buy winter tires and your car spins out of control and you kill someone whose at fault? An individual a family might lose their entire family because of your neglegence and who pays for that? That’s a very good question to ask and I’m, sympathetic to individuals who think winter tires should be mandatory but I 100% disagree.
This is a simple private sector fix, insurances could easily push the owness on the driver by raising prices for individuals who haven’t purchased winter tires. If a licensed driver manages to game the insurance company by driving without winter tires and that individual crashes his/her car killing others, well the courts in that situation could seriously look at intent, thus potentially changing what was manslaughter charge into a murder charge. Sounds a bit extreme doesn’t it? Well, in a just society, when you lie and your insurance refuses to pay up what would otherwise be open and shut gets just a bit more complicated doesn’t it.
What about the financial and emotional losses? Well, we all take risks in this life, which is why love for your fellow human should be why you’d purchase winter tires in the first place. I’m still also amazed with the amount of Canadian drivers who can’t change a car tire? If most drivers knew how easy it was, chances are this wouldn’t even be a problem, in fact, car manufacturers would probably make changing your tires even easier. The reason why we have so many stupid problems in Canada is that of Government actions. If purchasing winter tires is mandatory, you’re assuming a large number of industries will get paid, because these regulations have to be enforced, if you know anything about enforcement, you know about the costs associated with them.
also once a law is enforced, what often happens is another government body will emerge that will start to administer specifications for your car tires to qualify as winter tires. If you think what I’m saying sounds cray type the following into Google “what qualifies as a winter tire in Quebec” three articles below can be read regarding revising winter tire rules in Quebec and chances are these rules will evolve in time.

- WINTER TIRES: MANDATORY FROM DECEMBER 15 TO MARCH 15 INCLUSIVE – Quebec.ca
I’m writing this in 2018, however, if you’re reading this in 2020 or beyond, don’t be surprised if more government enforced rules are added, as more private businesses, find ways to price gouge consumers. This is what happens whenever a Government interferes with anything.
A lot of things that used to be made in Canada are now made in China, now the benefit of getting items from a low wage country used to be lower prices for consumers, well good luck finding anything made in China for a $1 at your local dollar store anymore. Government workers get paychecks, government workers are not volunteers, people who work in the public sector are not volunteers, people who work in the public sector get paychecks that in many ways exceed the paychecks of people doing equivalent work in the private sector.
Most government or public sector jobs exist because of unnecessary regulations. I brought up the dollar store example above, because there used to be a time in Canada where items made in Canada could be sold for a dollar, but via legislation, Canadians thought minimum wages were a great idea, you know to end poverty, hows that experiment working Canada? In Ontario we’re at $14 per hour, poverty hasn’t been eliminated yet, minimum wages in Ontario began at $0.90 in 1969? So how many times did the government get it wrong? Could it be that wages will raise if there are more businesses coming to Canada because the barrier to entry is lowered? It’s not like Canadians wouldn’t boycott employers who treat them unfairly? Just a thought… just a thought…
Hourly Minimum Wages in CANADA for Adult Workers
Switzerland has no federal minimum wages and the average household net-adjusted disposable income per capita is around $36,378 USD per year, whereas, In Canada, the average household net-adjusted disposable income per capita is $29,850 USD a year, which is lower than the OECD average of USD $30,563 a year.
Canada’s Federal minimum wage sites at around $4.00 per hour, the reason some countries have abolished the federally madated minimum wages is that price controls are inherantly marxist, well-forcing people to puchase winter tires is also a price control mechanism as the governemtn in time will reclassify what it means to have winter ready tires for automobiles, meaning fewer companies will qualify as winter tire manufacturers which in turn will force winter tire prices up.
As many people know Quebec is what’s known as a “Have Not”province(provinces receiving equalization payments to pay for their ballooning public sector, the private sector monies accumulated from the Have Provinces are used to pay for the public servats and services of the Have Not Provinces”), the main reason for this is their government is huge, the Quebec government is a very Nosey Nanny, what’s often not included in the public sector are crown corporations, Quebec’s economy is a have not province for one reason, their government is too large and quite frankly there’s no market source to prevent their government from growing larger in the future. Their mandatory winter tire policy is recent(2017), and requires money to enforce it.
This concept that The Rebel is somehow Far Right is ridiculous, at best they’re moderate Right. The Rebel only sounds or seems far right because the mainstream media in Canada has gone so far Left that it’s uncomfortable for a lot of Canadians to have their Leftist Propaganda challenged. As much as I appreciate the Rebel for their existence Canadians should be reminded that The Rebel is in no way, shape or form Far Right!
Interesting times ahead.
