Will the U.S Government Destroy Amazon? Federal appeals court says Amazon is liable for third-party sellers’ products – July 5, 2019,
I remember being an ignorant little kid who got ripped off at a corner store, I used to love gummy candies namely these sour patch gummies from a particular company, I remember the store owner possibly for financial purposes I don’t know changing brands and the new brand tasted horrible and was hard unlike the previous gummy brand. I hated the store owner and vowed never to go back there again after that incident, in those days those candies were like 5 cents each, the great thing back then was there were options, the, market was competitive and lucky for me at the time the new store sold 2 for 6 cents while the other store sold 1 gummy for 5 cents and the new store had the gummy bears I wanted.
As a child I loved options, options keep business people honest, options for consumers scare the crap out of businesses like Amazon, but as the government steps in, in the name of protecting the consumer, the barrier to entry gets higher, which means that any competitor of Amazon is now going to have built his/her/their business around the newly formed regulation which in reality often goes a few steps beyond what is necessary in order to prevent a particular thing from ever happening again.
This sounds all good in theory but put into practice it creates corporate monopolies that democratic socialists like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez use as their reasoning to socialize the entire economy. When Bernie Sanders goes on stage and says the FEDERAL Minimum wage should be $15, what is he saying really? He’s saying if your business doesn’t generate enough money to pay your employees a Federal minimum wage of $15 per hour, then you and your business don’t deserve to be in business.
Now in China, I believe their highest minimum monthly wage of 2,300 yuan. Yes that’s per month, which equates to about $335USD per MONTH, which equates to about $4100 per year, now I bring this up because another Democrat Presidential candidate wants to give Americans $1000 per month, just for living, for being unproductive Andrew Yang a former entrepreneur, in fact, wants to compete with minimum wages and I’m still unsure if this $1000 will be higher if let’s say a single parent decides to have oh I don’t know 5 – 10 children, because in welfare single parents are rewarded in many instances for having children they can’t afford. I’d need for Andrew Yang to explain that portion of his free month giveaway in greater details.
Now, the huge problem with raising the cost of living and making it more expensive for businesses to operate is the unexpected income tax declines that these socialist laws will create, furthermore, if there are frivols demands being levied on businesses via the government, that makes Amazon responsible for the actions of others, which basically means the potential for increased litigations, now upcoming businesses will have to prepare for something similar which ultimately leads to business completely shifting how they do business, which ultimately leads to unnecessary job cuts or an economy that appears to be favoring the rich.
Regulations in case you didn’t know favor the rich, because you have to be rich to even invest in certain investments, what ultimately happens is the rich get offered the best investments, which basically helps them to have greater control over the government, now once you achieve a certain degree of wealth, your currency of choice doesn’t mean as much, you can in fact as a rich person dump all your money into assets, or cash flowing assets, that’s the government can’t touch. Now, in order to justify theft, the government has to make promises to unsuspecting voters that the government will take from the rich and give to everyone else.
But in order not to crash the economy, the government must leave room for loopholes, no loopholes are Venezuelan, Chinese style totalitarianism. That’s how it works in case you didn’t know. Loopholes exist because tax is theft. The world can function without taxes, people tend to forget that and I don’t know too many people who like going to Government offices, I avoid government offices like the plague, if I get a call from the government I’m paranoid, an Amazon vendor trying to scam me at worse is an irritant that I will write a bad review on, but when the government attacks me, I’m basically defenseless, that’s the thing about Nazi Germany that most people can’t comprehend.
The people oppressed by the Nazis assumed that their government would never do anything to hurt them, the people assumed that this new government may have had a few extreme ideas, but it would never turn on its own people. No, this is a flawed way of viewing the world, the government is supposed to stay small so it can’t turn on its people. In Hong Kong, the people do not want to be extradited to Mainland China, why? Because Mainland China has a huge totalitarian government with a 99.9% conviction rate, that’s what NO LOOPHOLES MEAN!
Rich people have loopholes because taxation is theft, minimum wages are theft, a universal basic income is theft, universal health care is theft, when you take away people’s options via government regulations, you create black markets, which the government needs to now police, which means taxes are increased. Now, there are certain instances where policing is necessary, but let’s be honest here, we’re talking about counterfeits and vendors on Amazon are clearly labeled next to the products they’re selling.
The real problem with counterfeit is that companies know that suing a small business vendor won’t get them anywhere, so instead, they want t go after Amazon, which sounds reasonable in theory, but in practice is going to reshape how business is done online. There’s consumer demand for counterfeits, sorry t break it to people, now, it’s up to consumers to point out that a vendor is selling counterfeits. Now, in the modern era, owners of branded products could easily say only this and that company are allowed to sell our products, this is actually an easy problem to fix, but again people want to use government to solve a problem the market could easily correct.
