WTF: Trump says U.S. Postal Service should hike prices immediately, Fox News is silent LOL! – April 25, 2020,
I’m a conservative who is very sympathetic to the Libertarian message, I’m a huge fan of what Trump has been able to do. With that said I do not expect perfection nor do I expect anyone to live up to my personal standards. With that said when I hear economic stupidity, I have to call it out.
A quick back story in Germany they have this entity called DHL also known as Deutsche Post, Germany has prioritized it’s Postal Service, why? Because they know it’s inefficient, now is it clear to the German people that DHL IF NECESSARY more than likely will be nationalized? Of course! But Germans allow DHL to be a for profit business, with the obvious assumption that the future of the world will be a peaceful one.
The USPS has to be run inefficiently because running it efficiently would equate to having to have an honest conversation with the workers about their pay and benefits. I assume Trump believes Government workers get paid a market wage? If the USPS raises it prices all of a sudden it’s competitors start to look more attractive, all of a sudden USPS starts to have a lot of competition in larger cities.
I would have assumed Trump would have known this instinctively, USPS isn’t lowering its prices for Amazon, it’s overpaying its workforce! Amazon already has its own workforce and if USPS starts raising its prices all of sudden AMazon can offer better pay for Gig Workers.
I personally think management at USPS does a decent job based on the situation they’re faced with, I wouldn’t know know what to do with that behemoth, union workers seem easy to deal with from the outside, it’s way different on the inside, Union people are up in your face and will use whatever laws they have at their disposal, to make business more costly for the ‘owner’.
When it’s known that the owner of USPS is the government, well, let’s just say I don’t know why Donald Trump would open that can of worms. What I find the most interesting is that only the Left-wing media outlets spiked up this story. Democrats in the United States are a racket, every last one of them comprehends what a market economy is and how it works and they all knew how ridiculous this sounded coming from Donald Trump.
I also remember when Trump said something about “closer up” the Internet, if Democrats hadn’t gone o far Left, they’d have Trump right where they want him right now.

Unfortunately, most of the modern-day Democrats are Socialists who have zero comprehension of a market economy, so in the event Democrats were to explain what was wrong with what Trump said, using market fundamentals, 90% of Democrat supporters wouldn’t understand what was wrong with what ‘Orange man bad’ said
