The assumption of free health care in Canada: Winnipeg woman shocked after getting ambulance bill for partner shot, killed by police – June 26, 2020,
The problem with a government that promotes particular services as free, with no market component to it, is that humans will naturally abuse the Universal service. Being that most Canadians imagine our Universal health care system to equate to free health care, they imagine things like ambulance services to be a fully government-owned operation that their tax dollars already paid for.
If you’re a firm believer in universal health care, you’re not alone and that’s the problem because what happens when people assume that something is free is that when they feel like they’re sick or they feel like a loved one is sick, they’ll use and abuse what they believe is a free service.
Now, when people are abusing this universal health care system, that doesn’t imagine themselves to be abusing it, I mean it’s free right, my tax dollars paid for it right, how dare these scumbags send me a bill when the politician I voted for promised me free stuff?
I can’t blame Canadians for thinking this way, Canadians don’t imagine their politicians to be liars or con men, but they are and that’s how they get comfortable retirements while you the tax serf finances it. A lot of Canadians as an example never go into a police station or fill out a police report and it’s only until they interact with the law, that they comprehend how inefficient and wasteful all levels and layers of government are.
It’s not like it is in the movies or how the politician sold it to you! The government builds itself to be inefficient because it has a monopoly on particular services and because the government workforce are human and can unionize, they’ll monopolize their power and turn on the customers they serve. Now as this occurs, the people who really need the help are the people who suffer.
Now, the story below is understandable from the Winnipeg woman’s perspective, she was sent an automated ambulance bill after the cops killed what appeared to be her abusive partner, then she get’s an automated bill to pay for the cost of ‘clean up’.
There really is no story here, but the media jumps on it, because it obviously fits into a narrative of the Government should be doing more. But the government doing more is what created this problem in the first place. A bill after I called the police to save my life and they did what they’re paid to do? The audacity! How dare I get a bill for this! This entire process should be free, because I’m a taxpayer, right?
That’s the thinking here correct? You see when you’re entitled to things, you don’t imagine the cost of labor. The government gets a lot of my money in taxes and I doubt that I get more in services than I spend in taxes, but yet and still, after all the money taken from me in taxes, the government still finds a way to take and ask for more.
When Canadians hear about Conservative voices complaining about Justin Trudeau spending billions of dollars on things like media bailouts, these are the stories in which we are referring too. If there is money to give welfare for dying corporations, why is there no money to spend on the people who need it most?
Interesting times ahead!
