Bill C-13 was designed to fulfill a Liberal government promise to “ protect and promote French outside and inside Quebec.” High Taxes, Regulations, and Protectionism in Quebec – February 7, 2023,
The National Post likely in an attempt to get eyeballs from people who want to see the Liberal Party minority government dissolved published a story about Trudeau apparently losing his caucus over Bill C-13, which is basically a bill that forces all Canadians to promote Quebec inside and Outside of Canada. Quebec’s secession movement to date has been a success politically as they’ve been able to leverage their threat to leave Canada as leverage on Ottawa.
No matter what federal politician or political Party is in power, Quebec voters appear to have that Federal politician in their back pockets. One of the problems the NDP has is Quebec. NDP the political brand that mirrors most Democratic Socialism models wants to pretty much nationalize as much of Canada as possible and oddly enough NDP’s nationalization models tend to conflict with Quebec’s nationalism models.
Quebec has a Quebec FIRST nationalization model and what tends to happen when the Liberals or the Conservatives are in power is that Quebec uses its secession movement to get Ottawa to buy into its PROVINCIAL agenda. Financially Quebec is a perpetual have-not province, that would likely look a lot like Argentina if it left Canada, and no longer had any control over the Canadian dollar.
Quebec is a regulation NIGHTMARE, however, if you’re a private business that’s in the good graces of the Quebec government, you will be protected from failure as we learned regarding the SNC Lavalin scandal. Quebec is the perfect example of how POLITICS can destroy the prosperity of a nation, a lot of the price control mechanisms that exist in Canada, exist primarily to PROTECT Quebec’s economy from collapsing.
During this period of rampant inflation in most Canadian provinces, Quebecers are enjoying the fruits of the secession movement, which forces provinces that can balance a checkbook to finance Quebec’s bloated PUBLIC SECTOR. If Justin Trudeau loses Quebec, it’s over for him and the Liberal Party, and what we also learned regarding the SNC Lavalin scandal is that if you’re not a team player, Justin Trudeau will relieve you of your duties, as we saw with the resignation of Jody Wilson-Raybould from the Liberal cabinet.
So, the story I point to below in my opinion is nothing more than clickbait for Conservatives, even if the Liberals are open to losing the coming election, they don’t want to lose big, I remind readers, that prior to Justin Trudeau, the Liberals were a dying party, corporate welfare and the Liberal Party of Canada go hand in hand, Justin Trudeau’s name does a good job hiding this, but without that name “Trudeau”, the Liberals will have to scrap and claw for votes.
I see things far differently from most, how I see Canadian politics, is that Justin will run the “Trudeau” name through the mud when it’s all said and done, I thought Trudeau would have been sparred in the 2021 election but then Erin O’toole opened his mouth and “Tyranny” came out of it. Nothing is scarier to a Conservative voter than a Conservative politician that reminds them of Brian Mulroney, and Erin O’Toole made the mistake of presenting himself as a man without a backbone.
With that understood, Justin Trudeau is carving a name out for himself as the most UNPOPULAR Prime Minister that knew how to win elections. Trudeau is governing like he holds a majority, and regardless of the damage Trudeau does to the economy the NDP continues to support him, I do in the next election see this as a killing two birds with one stone scenario, but that doesn’t equate to smooth sailing for the Conservatives as people have short memories and far-left special interest groups will be on the attack the moment a Conservative wins a Canadian election.
In closing what I’m getting at here is the power of secession movements, should not be ignored, whether you love them or hate them, the Leftists in the Quebec secession movement have done well for Quebec, and if no other provinces are willing to create their own VIABLE secession movement, the province of Quebec will continue to BULLY Federal politicians.
Interesting times ahead!
