Canada Post may be increasing stamp prices well duh! Who is gonna stop them? LOL! – June 14, 2019,
Breaking news! Canada Post might be raising their stamp prices on Jan. 13, 2020. A crown corporation raising prices? I’m shocked! Anywhere you find a crown corporation or a corporation protected by the government, expect to pay higher prices now and until infinity, it’s not like Canada Post has any competition? What entity is going to stop them from raising prices? The article below states:
Oh, just in case you forgot, Canada Post raised their prices recently and then they had that little spat where they went on Strike, Justin Trudeau forced them back to work (because they work for the Crown/Public) and wow all of sudden they’re going to find a way to pay for their employees pay increases. Now Crown Corporations work differently than do traditional Public Services. The RCMP as an example get paid as Federal Public Servants they don’t accept cash the way Canada Post does, but the RCMP has a monopoly on federal and national policing in Canada. No Canadian can wake up one morning and say I want to compete with the RCMP, the same goes for Canada Post.
If you’re wondering why even the UPS store will in some instances recommend Canada Post to you, it’s because to be competitive with Canada Post could make them political targets. So they don’t compete with Canada Post, no courier company does, but what makes Canada Post different from the U.S Postal service is that it typically doesn’t require a government bailout, do you know why? Because they simply raise prices and pass those prices onto consumers, it’s not like consumers can do anything, there’s no competition, no other choice, no other option the Canada Post monopoly is a very real thing. In America right now, Amazon is limiting its exposure to USPS, because it can, America at least at the moment has a freer economy, in America, U.S citizens know that their post offices are inefficiently run. In Canada, we shut up and pay higher prices, it’s what we do, now in the courier space for businesses, things could be changing, but I won’t hold my breath.
Whether provincial or Federal Wherever you find a Crown Corporation you’ll find inflated prices, Canada Post, CMHC, ICBC, LCBO, The Canadian Dairy Commission just to name a few off the top of my head. The public sector in Canada is a lot larger than people realize, let’s just hope Canada never experiences a recession or a downturn in the economy again because I don’t even know if Canadians know what austerity measures entail, in our bloat economy where I’d argue that at least 40% of all jobs in Canada are Government related.
