Deflation and Debasement of the Canadian dollar while employees ignorant of the economic situation justifiably strike for more money – August 23, 2020,
Now, although I don’t think collective bargaining is smart, I do believe people who work in the private sector have a right to do it. Now, because of Coronavirus and the Canadian government’s response via CERB, mortgage deferrals, and other things, I 100% understand why a person working in the private sector would strike right now.
Why should they work while others don’t? Why should they work and maybe clear $500 a week while other people who probably never made $500 a week get paid $500 a week for doing absolutely nothing? Now, one thing ignored about unproductive people getting paid to sit at home is that they’re saving money because they don’t have to drive to work, nor do they have to spend money on food they’d eat at work, you save a lot of money when you’re getting paid to be home.
This is the reason why I don’t believe in The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) or a Universal basic income, because the people who are working to keep this country functioning, are in their right to file a grievance, this is also why I’m against a universal basic income, which oddly enough is typical in non-market-based socialist economies.
There’s nothing new about a universal basic income, in socialist countries, the people are paid not to work, some existing Welfares in Canada are in fact universal basic incomes, universal health care is a universal basic income when as a Canadian you go to the hospital and get for free what actually costs money, that’s a universal basic income, just because the money isn’t coming directly out of your pockets at the hospital doesn’t mean it’s not being financed by the private sector.
Now, what Trudeaus’ Liberals have done is they’ve angered people who have to work for a living, most people ignorant of the economic situation will inevitably blame the entity they have access too, but the reality of the situations I point to in this blog post is that this entire situation was created by the various levels of government.
Understanding Late Stage Socialism
Most Canadians assume that the private and public sectors both have equal access to the same amount of money and resources. Employees of Dominion and a private B.C. liquor store don’t imagine that the company they work for have thin margins, or that they were operating at a loss, prior to the pandemic, the employees of these companies assume that the companies they work for are and always will be profitable.
The benefit of being an employee is that you don’t have to think nor worry about the finances of the company you work for. As an employee, you can imagine that the owners of the company you work for are swimming in money and not swimming in debt.
Most businesses in the world are in debt, accrual accounting is probably one of the greatest accounting inventions in human history, combining that with fiat money has been a blessing for the poor, but only business people think or have to consider negative side effects of these financial inventions. The average person imagines sales and doesn’t think about the cost to get those sales and therefore when employees assume their owners are making more money the employees want more GUARANTEED money.
The problem with being a wage earner is that you forget that a company can have unprofitable quarters, unprofitable years, unprofitable decades and employers don’t have the flexibility to cut wages and other costs like taxes if their company is not profitable.
With that said, that’s why welfare and government employees making an above-market wage is so damaging to the economy. Eventually, the economy collapses, but the wage earners and welfare consumers have the same expectation for a pay raise in the future.
Now, both Ontario and B.C have an inflated minimum wage and green energy initiatives, Ontario has a carbon tax, B.C has a bunch of regressive energy taxes that make operating an energy-intensive business very expensive. I’d assume the Liquor store in B.C has fridges so I can only imagine what their energy bills look like.
Furthermore, both Ontario and B.C have inflated commercial real estate markets, I’d assume Dominion owns their land, but I’m not sure, and I’m not sure what their maintenance cost would be to keep their doors open, and furthermore I’d imagine their contracted labour is also paid an inflated price because refrigeration maintenance and other things that require maintenance in a store are an added expense, there are a lot of fees that go into running a business and it’s not like everything Dominion buys is sold.
Jerry Dias is responsible for the destruction of a lot of great companies in Ontario, in fact, in Ontario, a lot of the Dominions turned into ‘Metro Inc.’. Anyway, during the later stages of socialisms collapse, people inevitably assume that the private sector is the root cause of the problem, when in fact the root cause of the problem is the government.
This confusion often makes the entitled double down on socialism and this, of course, is what leads to an economic collapse. The article below states Employees at a private B.C. liquor store voted to unionize, as pandemic profits soar? No mention of the cost of doing business, which in B.C is very expensive.
This is what I mean when I say late-stage socialism, during this period the collectivists dissolve into vampires and they fail to notice that the root cause for their taste for blood comes from the big benevolent government they’ve been trained to trust!
I’ve heard conservatives say, Canada isn’t socialist, what they should say is Canada isn’t as socialist as some other countries. But this country has been socialist for a long time, our respect for property rights, keeps our economy afloat, but the free market in Canada isn’t free and the culture of Canadian is one of entitlement!
When the crash occurs, and a large chunk of Canadians will be willing to give up their freedoms and liberties so things can be ‘normal’ again, I think when more so-called Canadian conservatives see this, they will realize how socialist Canada is! We are nearing the Late Stage Socialism phase in Canadian history, prepare yourselves accordingly.
