Ethical and Financially Responsible Socialism why Canada’s Mainstream Media Fears Western Separatism – October 26, 2019,
On October 26, 2019, Stephen Maher, published an opinion piece in Macleans titled ‘Western separatism is not a serious option’. I want to make something clear to anyone reading this Stephen Maher is a Nova Scotian currently residing in Ottawa. Ottawa and Western Canada are two entirely different worlds. Eastern Canada, would prefer to imagine that without Western Canada the public services, the pensions, and the general welfares we consume in many instances unknowingly would function in the smooth manner they do without the financial assistance of Alberta.
If a person were to compare Ontario to the U.S State of California, a person would conclude looking at the to places that California appear to be in more financial poverty than Ontarians, unfortunately this is a myth, equalizations give Ontario and Nova Scotia the appearance of wealth they’d otherwise not be afforded without Western Canada subsiding parts of their economies. I’m an Ontarian, the current premier of Ontario Doug Ford has tiptoed around making public sector cuts, because truth be told Ontarians as is the case with Eastern Canada as a whole is not ready for austerity measures.
As an Ontarian, I can tell you that there are some amongst us that know what’s going on but most people in Eastern Canada, don’t want to face the seriousness of the situation.
The Reason Conservativism is hard to kill in America = No Equalization Payments
I’ve come to the conclusion that Canada may simply have t learn things the hard way, I really didn’t want this, however, it’s unlikely that Canadians are going to understand some economic truths. If you go to America, you’ll notice a pattern with the Democrat-run U.S States. a Higher cost of living, more poverty, depending on the demographics higher crime rates and in general the immediate effects of socialist policies. In Canada, we don’t have the same economic experiences, because, in the event of an economic shortfall, the Province with more money has its richest taken from it and distributed to other Canadian Provinces who have in most instances, intentionally inflated their public sector workforces.
Public servants don’t work for free, Police fficers don’t work for free, health care professionals don’t work for free, Politicians don’t work for free, Construction workers don’t work for free and employees of Crown Corporations do not work for free. In the case with Crown Corporations, those Canadian State-Owned enterprises don’t have any competition in their industry which actually hurts income tax collection and in general distorts pricing and efficiency because when a Corporation has no competition it has little incentive to innovate or offer cheaper prices, also being that Canadian public sector employees are allowed to Unionized, employees of crown corporations via their collective bargaining powers can also push prices up for consumers, which of course leads to a higher cost of living.
Socialism is expensive, corporatism is expensive, protectionism is expensive and although many will argue Socialism comes with some benefits, it also comes with a lot of liabilities, the main liability of socialism is entitlements if via a ballot box, via the democratic process, eastern Canadians can effectively enslave Western Canadians, what would make Stephen Maher, assume that Separatism in Canada isn;t a serious option? I actually wrote about these Stephen Maher types popping up assuming they know what’s happening.
In the Stephen Maher article below, you can read for yourself that he completely misses the mark. This goes beyond Jason Kenny, Stephen Maher. In the minds of a growing number of Albertans, the Jason Kenny types are the problem. Jason Kenny does speak french, why? Because Albertans know they have to pander to Quebec. Separation cures that overnight, even the threat of separation cures the Quebec problem overnight.
Quebec as a province has to become solvent before they’re any real threat to Alberta. If Quebec never needed a dime from Alberta, they’d be in their right to be hostile, but that’s not the modern-day Quebec, the modern-day Quebec from an economical standpoint is nothing more than an irritant. Quebec’s power stems from propaganda, governing a country, even if you’re a socialist still requires financial responsibility. Eastern Canada has yet to prove it’s financially responsible, now truth be told all of Canada has the ability to be solvent, however, there’s no incentive for Eastern Canada to be solvent because we can simply outvote Western Canada.
The truth of this situation that Stephen Maher doesn’t seem to comprehend is, that if Alberta or Western Canada decides to form its own bloc and/or threatens to leave Canada, news outlets like Macleans are going to have report the news without bias.
What happens when news in Ontario and Nova Scotia have to tell their citizens that their government pensions are at risk? What happens when Eastern Canada has to start implementing austerity measures because our public services are perpetually insolvent? What happens when Justin Trudeau’s deficit spending now belongs to Eastern Canada? Because remember, Western Canada isn’t in debt to Canada’s Federal government, it’s the other way around, this is the fincnail earthquake that Canada’s mainstream news will have to talk about if Western Separatism becomes reality.
Of course, Jason Kenny is trying to play this down of course Western Canada doesn’t want this, Justin Trudeau has a minority government and has some serious choices to make, now, personally I think the CER known as The new Canadian Energy Regulator was created as an excuse for why Trudeau won’t build any pipelines while he’s in power, but if Trudeau builds the Pipeline, the Far Left will turn on him and if he builds it, it’s unlikely it will help him win seats in the West anyway, because ultimately Trudeau’s agenda clashes with Western Canadian values.
Now, making matters worse is Energy East, because let’s be clear, If eastern Canada wants to enjoy Western Canada money, they should allow the energy east pipeline to be built? Now, this is obviously where Quebec and Quebec separatism comes into play, so if Western Canada has to subsidize Quebec and pander to Quebec, what’s in it for them? In that instance, Western Canada forming its own Bloc or having its own separatist movement would be used to add balance to Canada’s political system. Everything I’ve pointed out in this post can be learned in greater detail, by the people who have a better understanding of Canadian law than I do.
The last thing Canada’s mainstream news is going to want to have to explain is the effects an Albertan or Western Canada separation would have on the Canadian economy. Most of the modern-day mainstream reporters in Canada, know little about economics and will of course inadvertently offend Western Canadians with their ignorance. If my bills are paid and yours and you need me to pay your bills, there’s no way for the media to spin that. Sure the media can propagandize their coverage, but Canadians, when they start learning about the actual ramifications of Western Separation, will have to face the music.
Anyway, Stephen Maher you seemed to have missed the mark with your article, but you won’t be last.
Western separatism is not a serious option by Stephen Maher Oct 25, 2019 | macleans.ca
Stephen Maher: Canada is the best country in the world, and no province is leaving. What is real is the anger and Justin Trudeau is ill-suited to deal with it.
Interesting times ahead!
