Justin Trudeau clueless about Economics – Trudeau’s nasty surprise on Federally Regulated Employers In Canada – August 22, 2019,
If Andrew Scheer were smart, he’d start speaking out against this move by Justin Trudeau IMMEDIATELY and make sure that he(Scheer) continues to speak out about it if he becomes Prime Minister. I’m not sure if Trudeau similar to Kathleen Wynne is making a conscious effort to destroy the economy before he leaves, or if he genuinely thinks this is a smart move, but this is a really devastating blow to the Canadian economy. According to the Financial Post, these are the changes Justin Trudeau implemented.
Some of the more significant changes include:
- Shift changes. Subject to a narrow exemption for emergencies, employers must now provide 24 hours’ written notice of any change or addition to a work period or shift.
- Overtime refusal. Subject to a narrow exemption for emergencies, employees will have the right to refuse overtime in order to carry out certain family responsibilities.
- Advance notice of schedule. Employers must provide 96 hours’ notice in writing of an employee’s work schedule. Employees may refuse to work any shift that starts less than 96 hours after the schedule is received.
- Medical breaks. Employees may take any unpaid breaks necessary for medical reasons.
- Breaks. Employers will be required to provide their employees with an unpaid break of at least 30 minutes within every period of five consecutive hours of work.
- Eight-hour rest periods. Employees must be granted a rest period of at least eight consecutive hours between work periods or shifts.
- Right to request flex work. After six consecutive months of employment, employees will have the right to request a change to hours, work schedule, location and other terms and conditions that may be specified in new regulations or legislation. An employer may refuse such a request only on certain grounds.
- Leave for Aboriginal practices. Aboriginal employees who have completed at least three consecutive months of continuous employment may take up to five days of unpaid leave each calendar year to participate in traditional Aboriginal practices.
- Personal leave. Employees will be entitled to a new personal leave of up to five days per calendar year, including three days with pay, after three consecutive months of continuous employment.
- Family violence leave. Employees will be entitled to a new leave of up to 10 days each calendar year if an employee or their child is a victim of family violence. For employees with at least three consecutive months of continuous employment the first five days are paid.
- Vacation entitlements. Vacation entitlements after a year’s employment will be unchanged at two weeks and four per cent vacation pay. That will now go to three weeks and six per cent after five years, rather than the current six. And there’s a new entitlement of four weeks and eight per cent vacation pay after 10 years.
- Holiday pay. The 30-day length of service requirement for entitlement to holiday pay will be eliminated. All employees will now be entitled to holiday pay.

I think this was done maliciously, do you not see the recent poll data for Justin Trudeau? Similar to minimum wage laws how do you reverse this, without causing an uproar in the entitlement classes? Now, I want to remind readers that Andrew Scheer is a feminist, now I don’t think people understand the severity this is going to have on the Canadian economy and job market.
As an example “Right to request flex work” consider reading that section, imagine a profit-driven business having to deal with that? a large order comes in and their employee decides they demand a change in their work schedule because they feel like they’re being treated unfairly? I also wonder about Health care workers? because these laws actually incentivize people to seek employment in certain industries. So, I want you to think about this, flipping a burger and working as a health care aid almost pay the same amount in Ontario, look it up, there’s a nursing shortage in Ontario. Health care aids used to be entry-level and would typically upgrade to become RPN’s or RN’s, NOT ANYMORE!.

Lifting up a heavy box and flipping a burger almost pays the same amount in Ontario, being on Welfare and getting Government housing, not working and having multiple children is more profitable than working a minimum wage job in Ontario. A lot of so-called migrants, turn down jobs because in their home countries they were upper middle class and in some instances had servants serving them. So for them welfare is better than working a labor-intensive job, now when you give a particular group of workers benefits that aren’t afforded to other employees, more people will gravitate to the jobs that pay more, have more flexibility and less labour intensive, making matters worse of course is employers inability to fire unproductive workers. This is a disaster and I think it was done maliciously
THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER
For myself, Justin Trudeau has now far surpassed Brian Mulroney as the worst Prime Minister in my lifetime and possibly worst Prime Minister in Canadian history. I’m being honest when I say I’m not sure if these Bill amendments that come into force September 1, 2019, were done maliciously or if he genuinely thinks these changes are good. I’m honestly not sure, I do think Trudeau is an ignoramus, moron, however, I’m unsure if he or Bill Morneau understand the destructive effects this will have the Canadian economy.
I have to be honest, I’m shocked, maybe this is something he had plans for, months prior, and because of the SNC-Lavalin scandal he hasn’t had time to talk about this, but wow, Canadians prepare yourselves accordingly, because well, if you can’t see the writing on the wall for an interesting future in the Canadian economy, I can’t help you.
