Quibids Review Is It a Scam
Penny Auctions my personal opinion is don’t get involved with them unless you have at least 75% of the retail price of the product you are seeking to purchase. Another thing is before you get into a website like Quibids.com make sure you READ the terms and conditions and also understand what you are getting yourself into.
Penny Auctions work off ignorance (in my opinion) and they’re time consuming. The reason why I say you should have at least 75% of the money of the retail value of the item you wish to purchase is because the penny auctions in many ways are all about backing up your bid with your commitment. You lose in Penny Auctions when you are not willing to commit to a particular item.
Do you follow me here? Because if you don’t you will lose all of your money in a penny auction very quickly. When getting into this type of endeavor you’ve got to have some heart and also have some money, again I recommend 75% of the value of the item you seek. Another thing to keep note of is that with Penny Auction sites the house always wins.
Example: Three guys fighting for a PS3 console these three men are all serious and only one person can win. Each of these three men are willing to pay over $100 for this PS3 and they do, they each use up $120 in credits to try and win this PS3 console but only one person wins. This is how the penny auction website wins all of their money. This is also the reason why most people never win ANYTHING in Penny Auction Sites. Again the house has to make their profit when getting involved in these penny auctions never forgets that.
Online Penny Auction Scams
Now when you are dealing with penny auction sites ONLINE!!! There’s the fear actually it’s my fear that the game is RIGGED. This is my reason for not getting involved in this type of auction. The reason why eBay has become so successful is because only the winning bidder has to pay. Because penny auctions use NON REFUNDABLE credits the instant you sign up with them is the instant you’ve basically lost your money.
So if you the money you’ve invested is not at least 75% of the retail value of the product you want and if you are not prepared to go all the way with your bids then forget about it. When you look at Penny Auctions from the proper perspective it’s plain to see why people scream scam all the time. Now personally I don’t think Quibids.com is a scam but at the same time I don’t recommend you join them.
Wait a minute – How did $.60 per bid become 1 Cent per bid?
Nothing on Quibids is being sold for 1 cent the fact of the matter is that each bid costs each user 60 cents per placed bid. The real allure of Penny Auctions is the name and online it’s also the visual presentation meaning once you see your desired item on auction for a few cents or dollars, most people are going to think to themselves hey this looks simple and cheap let me try that. Like I said above when getting involved with online penny auctions you have to purchase credits meaning the house has already won. And like with any other auction site there can only be ONE winner, but unlike traditional auction sites where only the winner has to pay for the price of item, a penny auction website means once you vote you’ve paid for the price of the item. So each time you vote you lose credits.
Penny Auctioning is border line gambling in my opinion. Also penny auction sites work in reverse. The larger the penny auction site gets the harder it gets for members and the better it gets for the house (in this case Quibids.com). If you want to sign up for Quibids.com don’t let me stop you just don’t say I didn’t warn you. Please leave your comments or your experience with Quibids below it helps others.

I’m glad I found this site when searching for promo codes. I agree with Brian that no-one is forcing me to buy, but I also like to get an alternate opinion just before making an impulse buy. It is essentially an impulse buy as the bids are bought before you even start. It’s like a scratch card that you have to keep scratching.
I got hooked on Quibids and now I know it’s a BAD deal. Ebay may charge for selling, but they DO NOT charge any fees for buying. I am sorry that I wasted money buying useless credits. To pay 60 cents for each bid is wrong. The other part which Ebay does not do, is that on Quibids there is no “end” to an auction. That is ridiculous.
Hence, I kept thinking I’d won an auction, but someone else outbid me. Then I felt obligated to then purchsae the product as a “buy it now” because I saw how many token I’d used up to bid. It’s impossible to bid with just one or two tokens, and that’s how Quibids makes its money.
I agree about waiting for 75% of the retail price. I won one somewhat good deal and another bad deal. With about 22 credits remaining, I am going to be very cautious about what I quibid on.
This is not a website I will recommend to anyone. Unless Quibid drops the cost to bid, I will use up my tokens and close my account. It’s a rip-off.
Just remember that the bid amount that is shown is 60 cents on every bid ,so if there is 14.50 that is compared to around $800 or $900 hundred dollars
I do agree it is online gambling. I dont think it is a scam though. When i signed up, the website told me the bids were .60 each and i needed to purchase 80 to start. The chances are very slim you are going to win, but it is fun. If you only bid on items you want to purchace anyway, all you have to lose is the shipping. The buy it now is your out, because they apply the bids to the cost. bidding on their vouchers is a waste, because those bids do not count towards the buy it now. I am about even currrently. Ive paid in about $150 including bids, shipping, and purchace price. Ive won $130 in merchandise, and have about “$30” worth of bids left. The owners of the site are making a killing though. All this being said, if you do sign up, dont go in with more money than you can stand to loose. Think of it as paying for fun, or dont get involved.
be warned about this site guys.
Looking at it now….. I’ve noticed that instead of properly ending, the clock stops at 1 second for 3 seconds to allow more bids=more money for the site?!?! wtf?!?
hope you are looking at this before you sign up
@Annie Well, if you bothered to read the questions and answers that they provided on the website…then you would know that the unused bids are refundable. They say that many times and if you want a refund…just contact them and ask them to do so. I have personally won many things from Quibids for very good deals…you just have to know when to bid and what to bid on. And be realistic…don’t spend all of your credits (especially when you don’t have many) on an item that’s crazy popular and expect to win.
didn’t like much, hard to win, very few items. auctioned more bid vouchers. wasted already 48/-
Reading so many mixed reviews, and using the site myself, it is TOTALLY online gambling, but NOT a scam whatsoever, they warn you about everything. I would love this site if I actually planned on buying things full price in the first place, but I am cheap -_- I won a 15 dollar walmart gift card and with my purchased 80 bids, after I won that I requested I get a refund because it’s SOOOO addicting, and they got back to me within a day and refunded me my unused bids no questions asked! So if I had gone into it knowing more, I wouldn’t have wasted 20 bids on an itouch that I was just “bid happy”, I wouldn’t have lost any money to it, but my ignorance costed me about 10 bucks. I’m not dissatisfied with it at all. If you want to sign up, do your research first. No need to rush because there are constantly new items added. I also love it because it’s all NEW LEGIT stuff rather than scammers from Hong Kong on eBay.
Just educate yourself and I wouldn’t recommend bidding on the big stuff unless you intended to buy to full price either way.
The guys that are setting up these sites are making a fortune. Some poor slob is going to try and get a real deal and find out he’s just been ripped off.
These sites will fall like a house of cards when the lawmakers finally hear from granny after she looses her social security check to these con artist.
It will take some time but laws will be passed, but by then these guys will have made their fortunes.
This is no less than gambling and probably close to fraudulent in most cases.
I’ll go even further to “bet” that some of the people you may be bidding against don’t exist. The organization responsible for the site probably invents “bidders”. This way,
you are really bidding against yourself and the next thing you know, you’ve run out of bids…they have your money, you have nothing.
The key to the penny auctions is to study the bidding, I spent a week studying it and have found late weekday nights and early weekday mornings are the best times to buy. I have won 4 auctions and spent a total of $175 on items that would have normally cost over $2500. YOU HAVE TO BE SMART ABOUT IT AND KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING YOURSELF INTO! It is a Win-Win if you understand what you are doing. It is as simple as that.
Jazzole, it is illegal for a site to invent bidders and I could write a program in about 20 minutes that could search those phantom bidders out. The sites make so much money they don’t have to make up phantom bidders.
This site is a complete scam. I have no doubt they have people bidding for them. I watched many auctions before getting involved. 50 voucher packs would go for anywhere from $.04 to $2.00. I studied the bidding patterns for several days. Surprisingly enough, every auction I entered, the price ended up going over $3. I’d wait until it was over $2 then bid only when it was apparent everybody else was ready to give up. I had 20 bids left in the last auction. I started bidding at $2.95. The only person who continued to bid against me was someone, probably a quibid employee, who had been in since the beginning. Between the two of us the price got up to $3.52. At this point I figured I may as well use the rest of my obviously useless bids. I placed a bid with 4 seconds left on the timer and it said “auction over” and awarded the auction to the other guy. When the auction ends it tells you how many bids the winner used. According to them, the winner had used 44 bids at $.60 each plus 10 voucher bids. 54 bids to win 50 at a cost of over $26 when they could have used no bids and bought it for $30 with “buy it now”. Also three other 50 voucher auctions ended around the same time. They went for $.52, $.26 and $.14. Scam or no scam? You tell me.
These people are not completely honest. Go to their site and you will find lots of neat things to buy. However, once you login and buy bids, the selection of things to buy disappears. I complained and was told that they restrict the number of items available to any one person so that person has more chance of winning! Now that I have bought bids, I can’t find anything to buy(hardly)except more bids! There is a sucker born every minute.
I feel this is a scam! Like some of you I studied this site for a few days,… watching to try to get an xbox360 4gig console. (retail $219.00) Over the time spent watching I saw a bunch of them ranging in different prices. Then when I decided to do it I looked ahead in the search engine and saw 2 of what I wanted goin up in a few hours. I signed up, paid $48, then looked on the site around the time they would be ending, but couldnt find them. I thought maybe they ended?? but didnt find them in sold section of the pages. Thought nothing of it. Then in the next few days, after i signed up, I never saw them anymore, just a few xbox bundles here and there. Previously there had been a bunch, but I figured ‘maybe they phased them out’. Changed my approach to $200 gift cards which I had seen a bunch of before I signed up. Was at the Library, not signed in on quibids, I saw a whole bunch of great items goin on, including the gift card!! Looked in the search engine and saw a couple more and decided when I got home I would go for it. When I looked again at my apartment I didnt see any, in fact couldnt find any that had sold recently…. Here’s where it gets interesting.. A few days later when at work, on break :), I looked at the site and saw these awesome items including 4 $200 gift cards!!! again, I made up my mind to try it when I got home since one would be goin on at that time. When I got home it was the same story as afew days ago!! ‘strange’ I thought. Few hours later was on the wii and for kicks and giggles looked on quibids, not signed in, and once again my eyes lit up at the site of 3 tv’s and my $200 gift card! A minute later I was on my computer, signed in, and looked but the home page was completely different!!!!! went back on the wii and there where the tv’s and gift card!!! WOW!! THEN I signed in on the wii and they all disappeared!!! Home page completely changed!! just lame items where left. now the computer and the wii had the same dumb stuff. To make 100% sure I called a freind, who was never on quibids, and told him to look it up and tell me what he saw. He saw 3 tv’s! $200 gift card! told him to search for ‘xbox.’ He found a couple of them, I did the same but only saw controllers. Then I let him sign in with my name…. and WHAMO!! they were all gone!! and it looked just the same as mine. Looked up ‘Plasma tv’ saw $25 gift cards! All of this makes me think that those auctions on the home page, that they make it look like you can bid on if you sign up, are fake. I cant see them limiting certain items to certain people( that would prevent them from making money), they cant be previous auctions because I watched them end at my current time and day. IF they are in fact fake then whose bidding on them???!!! A computer has to be and if thats the case then whose to say they dont do that on REAL auctions?? Now im NOT saying there arent ‘big ticket items’, they are just not as available as they want you to think. AND implying that if you sign up you can bid on the auctions on the home page, when you cant, is not honest. By the way I ended up doing a ‘buy it now’ for a $50 gift card to get most of my money back because I was just tired of the whole thing. This is my experience with quibids and I DO NOT recommend!!! Maybe there’s a good explanation for all of this. If there is then I humbly stand corrected.
well…. the above comment, before mine, answered my question HAHAHAHA!! They’re still not honest though!:)
Three times I had auctions end with 3 or more seconds left on the clock. Called customer support to complain and they said it must be a delay in the server my isp uses. Never had a problem with any other site. Their response was basically, too bad, your loss. I’ve joined a class action lawsuit against these thieves.
For those of you saying this is not a scam, it’s only NOT a scam if they have ethical business practice. You cannot tell me that the inaccurate clock, the disappearing big ticket items, the over pricing ‘retail’ value, the pretend bidders, and the endless amount of other problems is ethical business practice.
It is misleading and annoying, and I never even signed up! I backed away slowly and carefully from the monster. They could be fair in their practices and still make a fortune! Then they wouldn’t end up getting shut down, and it might actually be fun to try.
I signed up for this a week ago. $48 bucks I got 80 credits which are bids. I won two $25 gift cards for a total of $5.15. So I basically bought two $25 dollar gift cards for $53.15. I went back on today paying $27 for 45 credits. I seen crazy things happen like a $200 gift card go for over $22 and one below it sold for $1.84. I don’t see how this can happen? I end up winning two $10 cards and had 30 bids left. I spent the bids on things that end up going sky high prices. A $25 gift card for over $5??? They made over 200 bucks on a 25 dollar gift card? I dont think its a scam because you actually get your items if you win. And thats the thing if you win. I won’t be going back as I have spent $94 and got back $70 in gift cards. Plus I waisted hours of time trying to win the impossible. I would have been happier taking the $24 and buying lottery tickets. I do believe they have people working on the inside by making bids end cheap to make people think that they can get something for nothing.
Quibids Review Is It a Scam – I would say yes or at least a gambling site.
I spent about $55.00 to get product that would cost $25.00. I look at it as I spent $30.00 dollars to learn a lesson.
Some would argue I’m a quick learner. However, I would have rather spent the money on going out and a having a few drinks.
1 more thing, Quibids’ service sucks!!!
QuiBids.com has got to be a scam. How else to explain two of the same bidders in 9 of the 13 RANDOM auctions, at completely different times that I entered? That’s one heck of a coincidence. All 13 of the auctions I entered went for much more than other auctions for the same items being auctioned off at the same time. That’s a jaw-dropping coincidence, actually.
I was just about to win auctions on 3 occasions at a significantly higher amount than other auctions for the same item, when all of a sudden, up pops a bidder I had gone up against (and lost to) three times previously. He or she won, of course. No one will ever convince me it’s not a scam. I’m done with ’em. I’m sure somebody finds a “needle in a haystack” now and then, but that’s the equivalent of somebody winning the lottery, most people lose.
Some good comments above. I found quibids and was intrigued. I bought the $48 worth of $50 so I came close to breaking even on this after payment and shipment of items. I will never get on Quibids again. Just stop and think how much this site is making off each item! It is ridiculous. Anyone who will advertise, I got a $25 gift card for 1.50 is not very smart. You have to add all the 60 cent bids you made on this and other auctions. I can’t imagine very many people coming out ahead on this site. It can be addictive so BEWARE
hey people, it is VERY interesting if you read Terms and Conditions (and nobody does) it says:
“QuiBids reserves the right to change these Terms & Conditions at any time without notice to You. Consequently, You should review these Terms & Conditions for changes each time You visit QuiBids.”
so, if you register and you read TERM&CONDITIONS it changes VERY MUCH
but NOBODY READ the CONTRACT or TERM&CONDITIONS or WRITTEN CONSENT you name it.
I use this site and it is definitely not a scam. Yes, the price to bid is way too high and the initial cost to sign up is too much also. I see people saying once you pay to enter you will see what’s really behind the curtain, that is not true. The auctions you see before signing up are the same auctions. My advice is pay attention to a bunch of bids before bidding yourself, look for a pattern. I won 2 items my first day, a computer printer I paid 7cents for and a hand held massager work $139 for only $1.29. Yes, I placed bids on other items and lost but in the end I’m still ahead. If you want something specific and know how to bid the right way you can still get it at a good discount if you are will to spend a few $100. There is nothing illegal about it and if you don’t like the system then don’t use the site, plain and simple. As long as they are doing what they say they are then there is nothing wrong with it.
Here is why this scheme works, why it is legal, and why it is gambling.
A recent Apple iPad 16 GB Wi-Fi sold for $31.79. At the 1c bid price this means that there were 3,179 bids at 60c each (I assume the bid started at 1c). That means that the site collected $1,907.40 + $31.79 = $1,939.19 for the iPad in bid fees and the final price. This is approximately $1,500.00 profit (about 300%).
Everyone who participated in the bid contributed to the pot in a gamble that they would win. The winner got an awesome deal on a iPad as long as they placed much less than about 800 bids (800 @ 60c = $480.00).
The site needs 2c in bids for each dollar that an item costs in order to make about a 20% profit (2c = 2 bids -> 2 @ 60c = $1.20 + 2c => They collect $1.22 for every 2c in bids). An item that retails for about $500.00 breaks even when the bid price hits $8.33, and anything after that is profit.
The site is a brilliant idea for the owners, and a great deal for some. The losers get to participate by contributing to the profit for the company, and helping offset the price of the item for the winner. I personally would not use it, but I can understand why people would like it.
listen guys you have to be smart about it and learn how to bid, do your history and check out bids and auctions first. You can and WILL loose your money if you don’t bid right. I signed up on monday have spent about 130$ but with that i have gotten two 25$ gift cards, a 22inc hd flat screen tv, a Foosball table, and a external hard drive for my laptop. All stuff i really wanted except for the Foosball table i got for my daughter, and would have spent retail about 550$ This is a great site, but like with any gambling you take a chance, only here its on merchandise and against other bidders. I will def use this company in the future when i need to replace my laptop, if i go in knowing that i will spend atleast 200$ on a 1200$ laptop then i know i have nothing to worry about. Don’t bid early, and Bid smart.
WELL….I just got robbed tonight from a site call QuiBids. Does that sound familiar to anyone??? I spent $48.00 for 80 coins or whatever they call them. I was bidding on a gift card. I lost on that gift card because I thought (even after reading) that one bid was one cent, like it shows in the upper left hand corner. So, I blew that $48.00 like an idiot. Then they said that I could buy the gift card for $10. something. I guess it was the difference between what I spent and the card. So I paid for the card , not wanting to loose all of my money. I let them know what I thought and I am sure that it will not make one bit of a difference and I assured them that the Better Buisness Bureau would know about it also.
DO NOT USE THIS SITE…..IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. IT IS LIKE GAMBLING/ILLEGAL.
They make it sound soooooo good to bid on the site. But if you do the math they re making a killing on each sale. An Ipad that sold for $73.00 in a 1 cent bid had 7300 bids for the item. muliply it $.60 they made $4380.00 on it. I guess I would be happy too.
there is no free lunch…This is gambling in a very sophisticated and technologically advanced way. There will always be people on the losing side and people on the winning, but at the end of the day the house always wins. Like any casino and business they still have to make ends meet and be profitable. This site, is very good at luring (admirable) people and they understand very well how people rationalize gambling. You win a few, you become very excited and confident about your decision to get into this game, buy more bids maybe win again. Buy more bids, lose a couple, but “hey I’m definitely still in the money” I have won more items than lost, etc- and this is how eventually you lose track that with all the bids you bought, shipping, you will most likely have already spent more money on QUIBIDS than you wanted and more money that what you have actually won.
Now, the deceiving part is that since this is technology based we do not know what is going on in the back-end. They could very well be adjusting the system to their benefit. I bought a bid packet to get firsthand experience. I did a couple of days of observation as I am an financial analyst and wanted to see what I could conclude- certain items only (for ease of analysis) the ending price, # of bids, time of day, frequency bidding, # of exact product being auctions, etc. A couple of days later I logged in and bought the bids to get into an auction I saw would be ending in 6 hrs, did a quick search on the items that I had seen an hour ago (remember that an hour ago I had not purchased bids yet) , they where no longer there- in my case it was a golf club that you can buy at a store or online for 90-120- on quibids it was selling for (at least before I bought bids) .20 – 1.50 – do the math and this is a product that they lose money (on the high end that’s 120 bids at 60 cents). To my not so surprise, golf balls auctions- dozen premium golf balls- that got retail or online for 30-50$, where – A. selling for 0.95 – 5.50 – do the math (either .01 or .02 increments) again and that’s a nice margin (high end that’s 5.50 at penny increments 550 bids at .60 cents). B and more importantly than A, these product came up 10x more when I searched for the golf item I was originally looking for, basically they hide or don’t allow you to see the LOW Margin or $ losing product and show you the HIGH margin ones.
I contacted them and asked how could it be that I saw a couple of golf clubs to be auctioned in 5 or so hours and when I went to buy my first packet of bids, they no longer showed up- again only those dozen golf balls and similar products. They said that “due to customer feedback” (BS) they limit the amount of auctions you can see (actual response ” I have updated your settings so that you will have a broader view of the auctions on the site.
Our number one goal is to maintain a great user experience for all customers, along with balancing heavy strain on our servers. If the product you want is currently not showing, please continue to check back as new and exciting products will be added frequently!”)
You can see where I am going with this, they need to be much more transparent- I am confident that they are doing some “funny” stuff in the back-end to their favor. In their defense, its business and so be it till they are asked to prove otherwise. One VERY positive thing to note, they have excellent customer service, at least via email. Refunded my $ in less than 24hrs that I contacted them
I dont think its a scam in the assumed meaning that you are getting lied to about what you are getting. Its entertainment and gambling just like lottery. You should expect to lose your money. Maybe you win $1 and that keeps you playing or in this case you win an auction for bids which keeps you bidding. Whats missing is some way of verifying the identity of the bidders…the scam flag comes from the fake bidders the company is accused of using. I have watched, researched auctions and some “bidders” are spending way more on bidding than the item is worth (esp. gift cards). They say they dont use bots but really? More importantly this is what the company reps say- I found this quote “If you’re not willing to spend the full-value price and purchase the item, we don’t recommend bidding on those auctions,” said Josh Duty, the Chief Operations Officer of quibids.com. And this quote from the CEO Mark in an interview…
Question: “With all the penny auction websites out there these days, how do you feel you’re any different than any of your other competitors?
QuiBids.com : That’s a great question. When we decided to enter the penny auction space, there were about half the number of competitors as there are today; and that was 6 months ago! With all of our competition running this model in a similar manner, we realized the best way we could differentiate ourselves from our competitors was by providing our users with auctions that are easy to win. Moreover, we strive to provide our users with excellent customer service , and to get our products to our winners as quickly as possible.
In the next 6 months, however, you’ll see some substantial differences in the way we run the penny auction model versus our competitors. So stay tuned…”
One of the changes is the auction time length. They used to do 20 sec, 15 sec and 10 sec…Now its just 10 sec for most.
However the auctions are not easy to win. Most of the auctions go on for hours and are a complete waste of time. In addition, if it was a super fantastic site you would hear a lot more praises than complaints. Also if they had a set time for each auction to end would seem more on the up and up but this way they can make money. The general public has to remember that the company is there to make money. Ebay was a great thing until it got ruined by fees. Ebay bought up Paypal and part of craigslist. Smart move for the company but not great for the consumer. The fees have pretty much tripled to sell on Ebay and now its saturated with retail market sellers and less small independents.
In a year, quibids has moved its offices and doubled its staff. So at least they are creating jobs in Okla. City and for that I am sure many are grateful.
Do not get sucked in! This site along with the other penny auction sites are definitely gambling sites. Gambling with very very poor odds of winning. Take your money and buy lottery tickets you’ll have a better chance of winning. Sites are addicting! No proof that its a scam, but sure seems like one. What are the chances that many of the bidders are generated from the site itself. As for anyone giving these sights positive feedback, probably are affiliated with the sites as well. Similar to boiler room stock scams that pump up stocks on message boards. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!
GIVE IT TO CHARITY!!! YOU WIIL FEEL MUCH BETTER!
I saw on one page where someone had logged Quibids and found 7 “bidders” that has spent over 1 million dollars in bids over the course of a week…..and sometimes they were bidding against each other.
Probably a couple of bots hard at work keeping the auction alive waiting for someone to jump in with $100 worth of bids and take his money.
Watch the News 9 video on youtube, the people interviewed both won something, appear to be searching for the “right” story by not looking at the camera and looking up and to the right. I will let you figure that one out.
Back to the million dollars worth of bids. They could have sold the bids for $1 to 7 different people and now they are just using them. But probably not.
May not be a “scam” but if they are using bots to run the bids up, they may get shut down.
Even if it wasn’t a scam, they are making so much money off people’s stupidity it’s ridiculous. They mask the bids in pennies and dollars, but every “penny” costs 60 cents. A $1500 iMac that is sells for $35.00 is actually 3500 x .6 + 35= $2,135
It’s completely unethical and I’m glad I saw what was really going on before signing up.
Quibids is definetely a scam! I am going to call several major media organizations in hopes this company can be investigated and a television network will profile the penny auction company.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this company is found to have in house employee shilling and that employees win most bids! And get this! One staff member actually advices that before you bid on an item always bid with the intension that you are going to pay full retail price for it, in the event you lose! So, if an iPod retails on their site (all of their listings are also retailed by them!) for $399 and you lose after bidding $100, you have the opportunity to apply your lose to the full purchase price! Absurd! Plus, each time you bid it will cost you 60 cents for each bid you place. You have to purchase bid packages up front and no, there are no refunds. There is a sucker born every minute and Quibids is signing those suckers up daily. DON’T BE A SUCKER FOR THESE GROUP OF SCAMMERS!!!
I have bid on several items and it is obvious that this site is a total scam!
check it out…two bids going at same time, same product one sells for $1.32 an the other almost $13.00. if you try to bid on an item that there are no bidders on you can’t get in under 3-4 seconds but if you are bidding against others less than 1 second…what gives? in my opinion…THIS IS A BIG RIP OFF
Watch out – I innocently signed up for an account – that they said i had to verify thru my e-mail – then suddenly, after i hit return with my cc info – it said ‘congratulations – you won $48 charged to my account!! i had no knowlege of this – nor did i bid on it. apparently, it’s automatic when you sign up – and you must “uncheck it”.
Got two e-mails; first one said that they were sorry and would refund my money within 5 business days. Second one said that they were sorry, would refund my account within 1-2 days and my account was suspended. Ha!
Call ’em on it – and they don’t like it!
Thought I’d share.
To treat me like this from the outset – I’m leary – justifiably so.
$190.00 down the hole. Don’t do it. something fishy for sure. Besides the fact that you cannot be sure if your bidding against a human being on the other end, its a huge waste of time. I followed a particular auction for 4-5 hours and only started bidding where the price was comparable to the same auction that ended earlier. watching that 10 second count down is hell. I think I will spend an equal amount of time posting this experience anywhere I can on the web, Starting with facebook. Dont piss your money down the drain, donate it and you’ll feel way better.
I most assuredly agree with the comments about quibids being a scam,First, that take $48.00..Then,Before you can begin to bid,You first have to go to the beginners bid where they “allow” you to win a trinket that isn’t worth hardly anything. After that, you are “allowed” to go to the regular bid site..You may place items on the watch list.. if you’re bidding on an item, they always go for a higher price that you can bid..(and be aware) you are being charged for every bid that you make. Also,If you place an item on the “Bidomatic”.. don’t expect to win.All they are doing is taking the money and scamming you. They fooled me once, but never again.I also believe they have their own system driving the bids up, as no one has 24/7 to be monitoring the bids. However, you see the same names over and over,no mater what time you are checking it out…This scam should be investigated and fined and sentences to do time..Plus a class action lawsuit should be place against them..It’s simple nothing other than a scam !
Quibids is not a scam. There is the possibility of actually winning high ticket items for a little money. However, it is a form of gambling…and as is the case in Las Vegas. The house ultimately wins. If there is a $100 item and 20 people are bidding on it and the item eventually sells for $23.50 you would think “wow, someone got a deal.” First of all remember there were 19 other people who lost. Got nothing. Since each bid costs 60 cents the house made out pretty well. .6 x 2,350 bids = $1,410 for a $100 item. Not bad. There are places that give you helpful tips to increase your chance of winning…but these are only marginally helpful. I have found that there is always one person in the mix who is willing to bid over and above what is reasonable to get what they want. A good example is the many times people are bidding on bid vouchers. Bidding on the chance to get more bids. I have seen numerous people bid over what the bid pack has to offer. In other words…they will bid 70 bids to win a 50 bid voucher. As long as there are idiots like that on Quibids it will decrease your chance of making a good deal. Unless you are committed to an item and are willing to pay near full price then you shouldn’t get mixed up in it. If you approach it that way then you might get lucky.
Still it is hard to ignore the possibility you are being scammed. You wonder at times. I bid on a $50 target gift card. The average final bid price was $2.58 cents. The average # of bids was somewhere in the area of 38 bids or something. I thought that was reasonable. The 5 previous auctions for that same item went for under $5.00. One went for 68 cents. So I jumped in. The auction went all the way to almost $12.00! What are the odds all those others went for under $3.00 but the one I chose went almost 3x that? I still made money but only saved about 10%. Also bear in mind…the more people that join Quibids means the greater the odds are against winning an item.
I’m seeing some posts that talk about the iPads selling for $70 and doing the math (7,000 x .60 = $4200 + $70bid and shipping).
What isn’t being taken into account is the money they make off of the auctions for their blocks of bids. a simple block of 25 bids is worth $15, but they’re selling for a buck or more in these auctions. The company is getting $60 for 25 bids. And maybe the final bidder got a sweet deal, those 25 bids are 100 percent profit for the company. If everyone won blocks of 25, 50, 100 bids and they were the ones bidding on that iPad.. the final price of that iPad could be closer to $10,000.
This is a SCAM. Just sit and watch the bidding. They have bids closing a really low pricing right above your item and below your item, with the intent of making you think you are just barely missing out. Their computers are rigged and in on the SCAM.
This is a scam! For instance, Quibids claims in an online ad that a Dyson vacuum (Retail $499) sold for $33.71. That may be true, but if you take into account that bidders pay 60 cents per bid, and that the price goes up by 1 penny per bid, then Quibids received $33.71 plus 3371 times 60 cents for this vacuum, or drum roll….
… $2,056.31 !!!
Are you kidding me? Quibids received over two grand for a five hundred dollar item. This is like a lottery: one person wins, the other three thousand plus are losers…
Bottom line: participating in Quibids is paying your stupidity tax. Thanks George Carlin for inventing that term.
Everyone who thinks this website is a scam is mistaken. I have won 7 gift cards totaling $160 in the last 2 weeks, spending about $50 including bids and shipping. They make it fair by putting restrictions on how many auctions you can win in a month and in a day. Also you shouldn’t go into real expensive auctions expecting others to just let you have it. Some people go on there to pay full price, so they are in it for the long haul, there’s no telling how much some people are willing to pay but some have won A LOT of bids and can flat out bid forever! If you want for sure good deals, go after the smaller, less expensive items.
I love how the ‘people’ claiming it’s not a scam keep reiterating the same info. “Oh, you have to bid on small stuff. I won all these gift cards! It’s not a scam! You can’t go for the big items and think you will win.” The same script over and over in a different order. ODD.
Folks, I’m glad to see that some of you have figured this transaction out; but let me say outright that this is a legal transaction. You (the possible bidder) were told up front that costs and the methodology of the transaction. No one miss lead you. What you greedy shits didn’t take in consideration was to stubborn blindness of a fool like me against the stubborn blindness of a fool like you. They (Quibids) did! THEY DID!
Look, we humans are basically short-sighted greedy fucks who basically take little time to consider the full situation. If you are bidding on a 50″ LED TV for for what appears to be only $135.95 that a great price for a value of $1100. We sit there and bump heads for a penny – while we forget in all frankness that that ‘penny’ has cost you $.60 for each of those ‘pennies’. They (Quibids) will gross in the end $.61 for each penny bet.
No this is not gambling it’s based purely on human psychology, nothing more. You (we) looked at the winning price and saw the the pennies not the cost of ‘each bet’ Given the nature of the betting I think their records will show that the average bidder losses far more then they win. That some bidders will be lucky and truly win on all levels, but the 99% will fundamentally loss. They (Quibids) are not betting on the winners, they’re betting on the losers (who don’t want to be a loser)!
In the end I lost about $50. I’m gone! God bless and peace to each of you. I can only admire the the instinct of the site’s operators; they understand us better the we are willing to understand ourselves.
David
seriously pathetic gamble and controlled by their computer system to define who will win and when, untill they make te good enough money from the item has been bid than they determine the winner!! but who know who is the winner,,just to say BULLSHIIIII……
Its not a scam. I have two accounts now and have won 18 gift cards THIS MONTH, almost $400. do research on the items you want and be patient.
SUMERIAN TRADITION SAY “HOW TO CATCH A WOLF”
TAKE A SARP DOUBLE EDGE SWORD DEEP IT INTO SWEET FRESH BLOOD AND THE WOLFS WILL FIGHT TO LOKED OFF ONLY TO CUT THEIR TUNGS AND DIE IN THE PROCESS BY BLEADING TO DEATH
THAT IS BETTER THAN QUIBIDS AT THE END THE SUFFRING IS OWER.
BOTH DESIGNED BY THE DEVIL HIMSELF
BEWARE: Quibids tries to cheat you at EVERY turn!!! I ended up learning the hard way that even after you’ve won an auction, they’ll still steal it back from you. If you forget to pay for the item right away (longer than 7 days), they’ll actually cancel the auction! This wouldn’t be such a big deal, except that they still KEEP ALL THE BIDS THAT YOU PUT INTO IT! This can be pretty significant. Consider that I won a $50 gift card….it was a difficult auction though, so I ended paying around $42 total. I wasn’t that happy at $42 but it was still a slight discount at a store I frequent all the time. But, then they go and cancel it on me!! Most of the entire cost came from what I paid for bids! This means that I ended up completely losing close to $40 and got nothing in return….AND I WAS THE WINNER!!!! So Quibids essentially collected a fortune worth of bids from me and others, but didn’t end up awarding the won item to anybody! QUIBIDS cheats you in so many ways and they are such scam artists. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy!!!
Went to quibids.com after watching a commercial for it. Left the website after looking at the main page and noticing the timers count down, and then go back up just before it ends. Thought that that was really stupid and it is some kind of a scam so I left there website.
Now a couple of hours later after visiting there main page once for half a minute I have there junk mail in my inbox. WTF!!!!
Everyone’s out to scam or rip off someone these days :/
I don’t think it is a scam. The owner of the site is making bank but why shouldn’t they it’s a business. If you know how to bid you won’t spend much money. I’ve won 8 items just from the first 80 bids you have to purchase. I’ve checked the retail value myself around my area and it totals about $330. The shipping average is $6, so I did very well.
you guys are …, learn to read rules and the ‘terms and conditions’ before u call it a scam. I read it and understand it. am I going to win an iMac for $25? probably not, there is risk of losing money on penny auctions. and 7 days isn’t ‘right away, especially when it’s only $40. I’m glad quibids made money of you fools. =]
It isn’t a scam, you just have to understand the the whole process before you commit to it, just be prepared to use the buy it now option if you lose so you still get to use the bid money towards it.I have won many auctions but some I had to pay the full price but I am still ahead and at least they let you put the lost bids towards it a lot of them don’t
I think that site is the biggest scam I’ve ever seen but I got them for all of us not only did I walk away with a sick nav but I called my cc I cant say which one sry but they got me a full refund. You should all do the same!
zoltan, EWWWW you have drawn a gross picture. How disgusting, and uninformative.
QUIBIDS is making money hand over FIST .. It’s the people bidding up the items that are allowing it to happen! Umm hello there’s a Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Bundle that’s over $8000 paid right now and the people are STILL BIDDING IT UP! The people need to BAN together and NOT bid up the items .. And then the page would fold right up if they actually had to sell the items at a discounted rate!
Pay to Play
While ebay doesn’t charge you to bid, QuiBids does. But they offer higher rewards (better prices) for the higher risk.
It really comes down to how much risk your willing to tolerate.
The only problem comes from the fact that there is no agency to regulate the potential for “nocost” bidding by the house to raise the prices to more profitable levels.
Quibids is NOT A SCAM!!! It is a brilliant, yet unethical business model that takes advantage of the stupidity of the general public. I have read through SO MANY comments that have stated how much profit this site make off of say an Ipad or an HDTV. They only make that much money because the number of people that are dumb enough to bid a handful of times and then NOT use the “Buy It Now” function is massive! It’s easy to not lose money, just go in with a strategy. DON’T BID ON SOMETHING UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT AT THE RETAIL PRICE!!! It’s the people that throw 5-10 bids on some attractive item that get out bid and lose their money, that cause such astronomical profits for Quibids. All of their bids add up and then the complaining begins. “Ohhh its such a scam they make $4,000 off of a $1,500 TV.” Grow up…If everyone in the bid was willing to pay retail price and everyone who lost the auction used the “Buy It Now” function then Quibids wouldn’t be making all of profits everyone seems to be complaining about. Think of it this way…
0.60a + b = c
a = #of bids to reach the retail value
b = current price of the bid
c = the retail value
Ex: I was looking to buy a Sony Playstation 3 160 GB for myself. I did the research and found out that in the last 20 transactions the average price was about $35 with the retail value being about $320. Therefore using my 5th grade level algebra equation you can use 475 of the 60cent bids before you personally start losing money (paying more than the retail price). An average bidder, depending on his/her strategy would probably only use 50-100 bids to win an auction for this item. That leaves a profit that I make if I win with 100 bids at a final price of $35 to be around $225ish (less shipping). Now obviously this is subject to change based on a number of different factors but a bidder can always fall back on that “Buy It Now” function.
The fact of the matter is that people are just wining about their own misfortunes. Do some research, learn the logistics of the site before you use it. If you don’t feel comfortable using the site then don’t use it. If you are going to stand on the outside and try to sound ethical and gripe about how much money Quibids is making then your pathetic. It is either a result of thousands of people who are too dumb to use the site or millions of people who don’t care if they lose a couple of bucks here and there. The fact of the matter is that if you don’t use a penny auction site properly then you lose money, end of discussion. Personally, the less people on the site the cheaper the items become so I don’t really mind the statements being made to get people off of the site, just the ignorance behind some arguments I have seen. It just grinds my gears when people are too ignorant to look past the ethics and realize a generally strong business model when they see it. We live in a free capitalist society, that encourages consumerism no matter how dumb the consumer is. ‘MERICA!
I have to agree that I dont think that Quibids is a scam – It seems that some folks believe if someone else is making big bucks and they arent then they’ve been scamed — you know — the share the wealth idea – I think Quibids business is great — but there again if you cant read then your gonna have a few problems — uneducated folks shouldnt be allowed to have computers anyway — and if you cant pay for something in 7 days you should be on the site in the first place — I think you should have to pay in 7 hours – take it from your account immediately! This would get all the degenerates out of the site.
This is in response to Ken. I’m sure that there are alot of scam artist out there I’m just letting everybody know what I have seen with this particular site. If you won a $50 gift card, why did you wait over 7 days to pay for it. If you had read the rules before you started you would have seen that if you win and don’t claim your item in 7 days it is forfeited. I just started on Quibids and I won a $50 gift card…that I paid for that same day. After a few days I received it. Oh yea….I paid $6.49(counting the cost for each bid) for a $50 gift card.
And take this piece of advice…if you sign up for these penny auctions, read the fine print first and don’t expect to win that $1,800 50 inch HDTV for $84 the first time you play. Many people will buy a bunch of bids and use them all on that big item and then when they don’t win, all of a sudden it’s a scam. Use some common sense and stop blaming your bad choices on other people.
Spread the word Quibids is nothing more than a scam. Creators laughing all the way to the bank with an endless supply of suckers duped into a money trap the old “waive a carrot in front of the mules nose” trap. Based in Maryland and Oklahoma report them to the Better Business Bureau in those States.
Further comments, reading fine print has nothing to do with the unethical tactics quibid uses, for example constant page fluctuation while an auction is underway as well as policies that give quibid the ridiculous authority to end an ongoing auction with no rhyme nor reason.
The above possitive comments about Quibids are from those who may or may not be associated with Quibids, just food for thought.
Hey jon — you know – you are right you dont need to be on the site or any one else for that matter — I won 3 bids for $45.00 in Gift Cert. to Home Depot for $1.83 — Including bid cost — no sir — you stay right where ur at there old buddy.
What I don’t like about qbids is they let you bid but if you win then they say you have exceeded your win total of over 3 in a 28 day period. I understand the reasoning behind this but they should refund your bids if they don’t count because you messed up and didn’t realize you couldn’t win anyway. I will be leaving the auctio site and yes, it probably is somewhat rigged.
Hey Parkerf — See heres another good example of someone not paying attention or unable to comprehend what they read — You cannot win more than 3 auctions in a 24 hr period and you cannot win more than 8 auctions in a 28 day period excluding bid vouchers for the 28 day period. The Bid vouchers do not count towards the 8 but do count on the 3. Glad to hear your leaving the site.
Quibids is a total scam. Quibids lies about the price they sell items for. They only reveal how much they recieve from the winning gambler, not the total amount they recieve from all gamblers for the product. Winning gambler may get item for 30 dollars, while Quibids actually sells it after taking in 3000
quibids is a genious scam, I wish i would have thought of it, but I didn’t. $66.00 for a $25.00 gift certificate! Don’t be an idiot like me
Hey — DC — What do you care if they sell a 300,00 dollar item for 600.00 dollars if I get it for 10 bucks who cares. See, your just pissed cause some one is making more money than you. See there that comprehension level kicking in again. Just stay off the site.
Seriously people. The only one’s saying it’s not a scam are those who have won gift cards. Are there some out there who won decent sized items and received them in the mail without much hassle? Those who have said they won items had just won and not gotten the items yet. I would like to hear if anyone actually receives $100+ items that they actually win.
I just won a cannon digital camera (AMAZON price of $369.99) for $2.83 it came to 16.05 shipped.
as well as a Cuisinart Central Coffee Grinder (MSRP $20) for $0.02 for a total of $6.01 shipped
both auction cost me 4 bids + $22.06 for $389 worth of product.
I will comeback and update this post once I get shipping confirmation and it shows up at my door.
I am kind of skeptical but hopefully I get some good presents
Any business that misleads consumers is a Scam. Clearly Quibids strategy is to mislead. So, any comments here, which are pro Quibids, are no doubt made by their employees. Say what whatever you’d like. The fact remains.
Genieass idea makes lots of money for the company. I too wish I had thought of it. It is like going to a casino. Putting a dollar for each time you bid, in this case 61 cents for the item to increase by a penny. It should be labeled 61 cents a hit, and if you do it fast enough in 20 minutes they give you 60 cents back. I know you will respond with read the small, fine print of conditions and terms. It is not like – bay where the clock runs out. You see 15 seconds remaining the adrenlin takes off, and you start hitting thinking (I am a Fool) only 8 seconds left. Wow, you are the current winner, but then the clock goes back to 15 seconds over and over again. It is a live auction that never ends. One could spend 245 hours and never win, but out lots of bucks. You would have better odds at the casino or the lottery.
To those of you that have won auctions on Quibids (Nathan, Larry, No Scam), can you explain the clock seemingly never running out? How does the last bid become the last bid if the clock keeps resetting? Do they arbitrarily stop it on a random bid? Doesn’t seem like you can win except by random chance aka Luck.
Bug — As the bids are placed when the clock counts down, time is added back each time another bid is placed – if no bid is placed when the clock reaches 0 and no pending bid is in the query because some folks wait until the last second. If there are no bids in the query the last bid received before the clock ran out wins the bid. OH and by the way I do NOT work for Quibid, I have been employed by my same employer for 31 years. But I do enjoy the site — If it were a scam they wouldnt limit you on the number of auctions you can win or participate in.
Bug, my first item was the coffee grinder, we all know its not a high demand item, i was the second bidder, it sold to me for 2cents, so either the first bidder left the site, hell they could have gotten up to use the bathroom or get a snack in the kitchen. when I bid on the camera I just figured why not, clicked my first bid on it and watched the timer go back up to 15sec, i watched it count down when it reached 3 and 2 sec I figured another bidder would bid and the timer would go back up, i was actually in shock when I saw it hit 1sec than a big red SOLD stamp over the image. I refreshed my browser and looked at my account details and saw I was the winner.
And YES i feel winning is either pure LUCK or outlasting someone else.
I dont work for them and never would, Im 28 and am a bicycle mechanic. i just use my bids conservatively and only go after items I plan on buying anyways
I tried it out today and came away with the conclusion that you have to be ready to spend up to the full amount that they are asking for the item you are bidding on. Don’t take it lightly and don’t just bid on anything. Pick an item you really intended on purchasing anyway and be prepared to spend the full amount. If you win at a lower cost, then you have done well. If you don’t win, then you have the option to “buy it now” which is the full cost less the amount you previously bid on the item you lost. By using this site, you are essentially taking a gamble that you can get the items you want at a lower cost. You just need to be prepared to spend some time and to spend the full amount.
for me it’s a scam. it’s better to go to ebay if you want to bid.
One sure way to tell that this is indeed a scam: They spam all over the place. For example, check any Yahoo news discussion and they will sooner or later turn up spamming that discussion with their fraudulent advertisement. Their advertisement is totally misleading and dishonest. An ethical, honest business will not lie and spam! So there’s all the proof I need! Saves me the trouble to even sign up and get ripped off.
Got two of my Home Depot gift cards today and took them to the HD — they are good — James you go to ebay and by that used crap that belonged to someone else and Tes heres what a scam is — If I could buy you for what I know your worth and sell you for what you think your worth — now thats a scam — you both need to stay off the site — makes my bidding easier.
Thanks so much for the info. Will never sign up for this scam. Phew!! Almost got sucked in….
Quibids is not a scam. The terms are conditions are clearly laid out for anyone to understand. What quibids really is, is gambling. Successful bidders are those who bid in a 10 second increment in which no other bidder acts. This is not a scam, its simply difficult to predict win to bid. I have been successful in purchasing several items at far less than retail value. Understand what quibids is, and what it is not, before mischaracterizing it as deceptive.
You are not going to bid one time and win an Ipad for 14 cents…its possible but highly unlikely. Rather, as other commentors have stated, learn how quibids works, be prepared to spend some money, and you have a very good chance to purchase goods at significantly discounted prices.
Anyone who says this isn’t a scam is being rubbed by the company. I know for certain that these sites frequently out bid you at the end. It’s only a matter of time before they are illegal. It’s a scam. No doubt about it. I’ll give you that it’s foolish to participate.
well got my camera today, from a mail order electronics shop sealed in brand new packaging. already took a hundred pics or so getting used to it playing with all the settings. THANK YOU Quibids!!!!
I HAVE MADE ALOT OF BAD CHOICES WITH PEOPLE I KNOW, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I LET AN ONLINE COMPANY SCAM ME GOOD. IN 1 HR. I LOST 60.00 AND ALL I WON WAS 25 BIDS FOR .03 CENTS AND IT COST 2.00 SHIPPING AND IT WASN’T EVEN MAILED, I PAID FOR IT AND THE SHIPPING AND IT WAS APPLIED STRAIGHT TO MY BIDS. THIS QUIBIDS IS A FARCE. PLEASE DON’T GET CAUGHT UP IN THERE SCAM. YOU ARE PAYING FOR THEM TO RIP OTHER INNOCENT PEOPLE OFF.
You know Bonnie I hate to say it but you screwed yourself — you really need to learn how to read and understand before taking on such a large task. looks like to me you have a rather large learning curve your dealing with there.
I have won and like otyhers said, you didnt get scammed you just didnt read or understant it.
i paid almost 200buck but won about $300 of merchandise. You can win an ipad or $2000 TV for 50 bucks, i mean seriously. it woul dprobably cost you 500 in bds or more and then the 100 prce tag so you save $300 on the $1000 TV.. once in awhile someone snags something good. the best thing is to bid and buy the cards. I have 2 $50 resturanct cards, 1 100 home depot card, sonic care toothbrush, emeril 10pc cookware set. cards cost be on average 2-3 bucks, brush was 19 and emeril i actually got at .22 cents. but buying the bids etc cost me about $190. you also need to know how to bid, if your fighting for a 50 card why would be be bidding on it if the price is $42 bucks??? once it goes over 10 i woul dbe out, also you can waste 100 bid in a $1-2 price range so dont start bidding like crazy at 50 cents.. all you do is ruin it for everyone else, its like the person who joins a blackjack table and doesnt follow basic rules when everyone else is., you throw the game off.
Larry – You give very smart advice. I joined a few weeks ago and started out at the beginner level and then moved on to small items like the 15.00 bid vouchers. Watched carefully (without bidding)and saw how the other items and bids panned out. I took advantage of the “advantages, Badges awards” I built up my account with bid vouchers and won some very nice items. I’m still building the bid account & getting ready to head in for a big item.. Good Deal. But yes.. you are right. Some people are not capable of doing this and should not be involved. One must be disciplined, as well. So, good advice & you are funny too.. Thanks.
GloBug — See, I can tell your a very smart person by the way you planned your strategy for bidding and building your account — I too use a similar method of account building. Its not rocket science — you just have to manage what your doing — I think that if you took a survey, of these knotheads on here, some couldn’t run a lemonade stand. Best of luck to ya.
For all you idiots that think this is a legit business, suck on this… I downloaded a copy of swoopo “a popular penny bid server software” and installed it on my localhost server, logged into the admin panel and to no surprise there were settings to set up as many “dummy users” otherwise known as “bots” as I wanted, give them unlimited bid vouchers, assign as many as I wanted to an auction, set the ceiling price for any item before it sold, and set the timer to end an auction when I wanted it to. I could modify these options for an active or inactive auction at any time without interrupting it and I have snapshots to prove it. If you want to play by these rules, then have fun in your future poverty!
As Thomas Tusser says: “A fool and his money are soon parted”
Here is one little *snipit* of an auction setting from the admin control panel for all you non believers:
“There are three ways to use the auto extend feature. You can either make an auction auto extend, meaning it will not close until the minimum price is set, or you can use the auto bid function, which will make auto bidders win the auction unless the minimum price has been met. If you set both, then the auto extend will work by making a random bidder bid (btw a random bidder is a bot) – and the time will extend by the time extend you enter in. Use the ‘Autobid Limit’ to set the maximum number of autobids which will be placed simultaneously before the auction closes. This will prevent the price from sky rocketing if no bidders are bidding on the auction. Set this to 0 to not use this feature.
Please note, every time an auto bid is placed, the minimum price will extend by the bid increase amount to ensure that you no not undersell the product.”
wtf dude talking bout something called swoopo? Did you get on the wrong forum guy…btw if Oprah likes this it must be a scam…you oprah groupies still drinking acai berry juice for weight loss and deriving an acute sense of feigned intelligence by joining quibids…but i suppose reading the fine print and understanding also enlightened the quibidfanboys to the gambling dispostion of the site and the IRS share of the winnings via taxes as well. Unlike an ebay I’d imagine quibids does their side of the transaction reporting a bit different good luck and continue to be ‘smart’ and be the big fish in a small pond when the IRS fisherman comes around.
TOTAL RIP OFF. They sell gift cards to “first time bidders”. As a beginner, you are sent to gift cards to Walmart and such. You begin bidding on say a $15.00 gift card that sells in the end for $2.00. What you do not know as a “beginner” is that you will pay the 2 bucks as well as a 1 buck processing fee. good for right? Thing is they have had 200 bids at the “beginner” cost of $0.67 per bid at at total profit to them of $134.00 then add to that your processing fee and cost of the “winning” auction. Bottom line. Quibids is selling a $15.00 gift card for $137.00.
You also do not know when the clock will time out AND you can not trust them as to when they will “END” the auction!!! RUN AWAY
HEY Scam Buster — WOOOOOOO — Thats some pretty good tap dancin you got there, I guess thats the SWOOPO step — Look, I could give a rats ass about what goes on inside a coke machine as long as I get what I paid for — GET IT !! — All I know is that I have received 264.00 dollars of merchandice for (including bids, shipping) 88.46. Now run that up your SWOOPO and see what you come up with. One other *SNIPIT* dont brainscrew it, its real easy just dont participate if you dont understand.
Hey David Fox — Here we go again — Lets say you have a lawn mower that you picked up for 149.00 and can of gas 10.00 including cost of can — Now you go and cut grass on lets say 10 medium sized yards in a middile income neighborhood and charged 65.00 a yard. Lets do the math — 10 yards at 65.00 each, you now have 650.00 minus your expense of 159.00 gives you a net profit of 491.00. NOW by your way of thinkin you just ripped of 10 eldery folks for 49.10 each. Dont be a hater — If you want to make money — Start you a business and quit your cryin you sould like a 5 year old.
If making a profit is a ripoff – Check to see what it cost Mcdonalds, or Burgerking to make a burger — I think you all would be very surprised, oh and they use kids as a selling point. Just sayin. Business is business.
It is true that EVERYONE needs to stop mentioning the huge amount of profit they are making. This is aside the point from the problem! That’s the icing on the cake, but not the problem. For those who know the software allows the auctions to run as such and don’t care, makes me wonder how much common sense you truly have. Maybe you feel you can figure out which auctions they rigged before putting too many bids in, but you are still throwing money away on some auctions. 1.Is the robot playing against me? 2.Am I giving them money unfairly because of the robots? 3.Is the auction going to keep going because they aren’t happy with the final price? 4.When I finally win the item am I going to get it? 5.When I want to quit are they going to refund my bids as promised? Those are ALL issues that multiple users have had, multiple times over. If that doesn’t concern you then they really do have you sucked in.
EMMA!!! — Wake up Emma — its earth callin — Have any of you folks ever been to a real auction. I mean a real live be there kinda auction where folks run the bid up — you bid until some one wins. Here Im assuming YOU are bidding on merchandice that you want and can buy even if you lose the bid. You get credit for what you have bid. By using the BY IT NOW option you can purchase the item and be credited the amount bid. I cannot believe some of you folks do not have a comprehension level — NONE !! – EMMA – stay off the site – you will never figure it out.
Larry….CALLING LARRY!!! Have YOU ever been to a real auction? I have many times, and from all of my experiences, I don’t recall a single time that EVERYONE who bid on an item had to pay for a portion of that item. So, when I was bidding on 2 violins, for example, I paid the price I eventually bid for them. The other folks in the room who didn’t win the auction were not responsible to pay for the chance to bid. The seller made their money from ME, not everyone who took a shot at their product.
Therefore, this is less “auction” and more “gamble”. In fact, this model is almost directly taken from the model used for the online gambling industry. How do you get money from many people so that you make a lot of cash, and one person can be happy.
I agree, you should read the rules and understand them before you play. But, this isn’t a real auction, any more than playing roulette is an auction. I signed up, but won’t “bid” because I’m not much of a gambler, and I don’t want to toss money into the wind.
Nightowl — On Quibids I would have had a chance to also buy the violins, with credit for my bids. True not at auction price but full price minus my bids. If your not a gambler dont participate. Please!!! Dont need you bidding aginst me.
