Quibids Review Is It a Scam
Penny Auctions my personal opinion is don’t get involved with them unless you have at least 75% of the retail price of the product you are seeking to purchase. Another thing is before you get into a website like Quibids.com make sure you READ the terms and conditions and also understand what you are getting yourself into.
Penny Auctions work off ignorance (in my opinion) and they’re time consuming. The reason why I say you should have at least 75% of the money of the retail value of the item you wish to purchase is because the penny auctions in many ways are all about backing up your bid with your commitment. You lose in Penny Auctions when you are not willing to commit to a particular item.
Do you follow me here? Because if you don’t you will lose all of your money in a penny auction very quickly. When getting into this type of endeavor you’ve got to have some heart and also have some money, again I recommend 75% of the value of the item you seek. Another thing to keep note of is that with Penny Auction sites the house always wins.
Example: Three guys fighting for a PS3 console these three men are all serious and only one person can win. Each of these three men are willing to pay over $100 for this PS3 and they do, they each use up $120 in credits to try and win this PS3 console but only one person wins. This is how the penny auction website wins all of their money. This is also the reason why most people never win ANYTHING in Penny Auction Sites. Again the house has to make their profit when getting involved in these penny auctions never forgets that.
Online Penny Auction Scams
Now when you are dealing with penny auction sites ONLINE!!! There’s the fear actually it’s my fear that the game is RIGGED. This is my reason for not getting involved in this type of auction. The reason why eBay has become so successful is because only the winning bidder has to pay. Because penny auctions use NON REFUNDABLE credits the instant you sign up with them is the instant you’ve basically lost your money.
So if you the money you’ve invested is not at least 75% of the retail value of the product you want and if you are not prepared to go all the way with your bids then forget about it. When you look at Penny Auctions from the proper perspective it’s plain to see why people scream scam all the time. Now personally I don’t think Quibids.com is a scam but at the same time I don’t recommend you join them.
Wait a minute – How did $.60 per bid become 1 Cent per bid?
Nothing on Quibids is being sold for 1 cent the fact of the matter is that each bid costs each user 60 cents per placed bid. The real allure of Penny Auctions is the name and online it’s also the visual presentation meaning once you see your desired item on auction for a few cents or dollars, most people are going to think to themselves hey this looks simple and cheap let me try that. Like I said above when getting involved with online penny auctions you have to purchase credits meaning the house has already won. And like with any other auction site there can only be ONE winner, but unlike traditional auction sites where only the winner has to pay for the price of item, a penny auction website means once you vote you’ve paid for the price of the item. So each time you vote you lose credits.
Penny Auctioning is border line gambling in my opinion. Also penny auction sites work in reverse. The larger the penny auction site gets the harder it gets for members and the better it gets for the house (in this case Quibids.com). If you want to sign up for Quibids.com don’t let me stop you just don’t say I didn’t warn you. Please leave your comments or your experience with Quibids below it helps others.
If you’re interested in learning how regular everyday people are making money from YouTube, please visit the Work From Home page. It’s easy and it’s completely free!
All — I would rather that everone stay off the site — Its better for me if you do — After all, bad comments that detour others is a windfall for me. I dont argue the facts only saying read before you act — I know what Im doing — just make sure you do and please stay off the site its very non-productive and you will only get in my way.
I have been to many live auctions, it appears you, Larry, have not. The people I bid against that make the price higher are real people and not planted in the audience to force me to bring up the price if I want it. There is a difference between a real person and a programmed bot, and it’s called ethics and legality.
I do understand how to bid on quibids, it appears that you Emma do not. Please stay off the site. Thanks
To buy expensive items like cameras and laptops you have to be willing to be bidding from 1.00 AM-6.00 AM on the east coast, so west coasters have a big advantage, plus how do you know if you’re bidding against the company bot and the odds are stacked even more against you. I have better things to do with my time than loose money and sleep with that crap.
TOO!!! LATE!!!!, I got scammed. I spend 120 dollars in 1 hours because I felt confortable about their MONEY Back guaranteed and when I asked for my money back. NOTHING
-ISIDRO
I just discovered quibids this morning & have been watching the site for about 30 minutes. I had my eye on an iPad 16 GB w/ wifi and the bids were up to $67; I noticed it was the same several id’s bidding, mostly, and each had bid many, many times (of course) … Also noticed that as other bidders finally gave up and dropped off, leaving a winner to claim the prize, the box displaying the bids would show ‘SOLD’ stamped across it, and the winning price & winner’s id would freeze on the box. I only saw ‘SOLD’ appear on low-buck stuff I wasn’t interested in, but I was curious to see what the iPad would finally go for. So I thought I’d look around the site a bit, read the rules … and when I came back to the home page for the site, the iPad I’d been watching was just gone, there were another set of bids, currently in the $20+ range, for an iPad 16 GB w/ wifi … different set of bidders, not the same ids’s bidding on this one, but where did the one I was watching go? It should have been still racking up bids or it should have shown ‘SOLD’, frozen in the over $67 range, like the other ‘sold’ things. I did search the site for iPads and indeed I saw the $20+ bid set going on. Now, as I type this, I see the $20 iPad has disappeared – no winner — and when I check the ‘recently completed’ auctions page, I see no iPad listed for auctions completed in the last few hours, just lots of gift cards … hmmm, I have to conclude that the whole set-up is just a lure to draw me in, get me to hand over a bunch of money that is not refundable, and get me to bid against this site’s bots. I’m sure SOME of the auctions on the site are probably for real, but I don’t care to gamble on which ones those are. Wonder if this scam is hard prison time eligible??
Hey ISIDRO — Where does it say they will give your money back. Show me — see someone else that cant read and cries scam when they screw themselves, they only scam here is you didnt lose more.
Sounds like Larry is the company bot! -BRM
yuup couldn’t agree more some people r so gullible 🙁
It’s called a troll…. 😉 They want you to hate them.
All,
Stay away from Penny Auctions. I worked at a traditional Auction house in SF before being bought out by eBay. I then worked on creating some on-line real-time auction widgets for them.
Larry is correct, they are like a slot machine that never pays out. Only the lucky ones actually hit a jack pot. If you want to buy something use sites like Overstock.com or Geeks.com for your electronic stuff.
As Larry said, you have been warned
Every penny you bid, actually costs you .60 cents. So do the math. $10.00 in bids x .60 per penny bid = ????? Durrrr!!!
Thank Larry the Bot. Let’s see. Latest electronic gear at 86% off. As a chain retailer I buy in lots with room to make a profit, the best so far was 80% on a 250,000 count of high end laptop computers. The actual profit was 36% after distribution, advertising, licencing, employees, taxes, and floor space. Yes Quibids is a scam that no one has a right to complain about as greed is greed and some love to get ripped off.
This is not a scam persay.. but the company is making a fortune off of the users. Some might actually get a good deal. But the company is making out the best.
As Donald put it… currently an ipad is selling for $32.50+ as I type this
Now it retails for ~$800, one would think wow. Im getting a great deal here. However, .01 per bid increast @ a cost of .60, this iPad is currently selling for $1950, over $1100 profit on this item alone.
Another one recently completed… $6.68 for a $50 gift card, sounds like a steal. However the company makes out $350 for this.
Adds up quickly. Stay way.
Quibids is a SCAM, pure and simple. It may not be a scam in the purest form, but it has the characteristics of a snake. As someone pointed out earlier, the LURE is that Sony 55″ being ‘won’ just a short while earlier for ‘only’ $8.62 by some lucky sap, or the Xbox Kinect that was ‘won’ for $2.39. You’re thinking, 8 bucks for a bigscreen or 2 bucks for an XBOX! Hell yeah!! I’m in! Wrong. You’re OUT….of your hard earned money, bidding against BOTS and some ol’ grubby, pork and beans eating schmucks paid by the company to outbid you until you nearly quit, go buy more bids, come back, bid some more and THEN quit!!!
I bidded on an obscure item; a telescope. I put one penny on it and went to bed (it was due to end at about 4AM). I woke up only to find out that I lost to a bidder who ran it up to 3 cents. Mind you, there were a bunch of the same model telescopes available, unbidded on. He could’ve won one and I could’ve won one, both for one cent each. But nooooooo. He bids on the one that I bidded on. That was proof in my eyes that for the most, part we’re NOT supposed to win. If you ever do win, consider yourself lucky.
It’s just a matter of time before the BBB or someone of greater authority shuts it down.
Why is everyone so concerned how much money a company is making? I wasnt under the impression that one goes into business to lose or break even. I didnt know that so many folks could not read and understand. Like John Walker Red said he is a businessman looking for a large profit margin. Seems hes a little upset because his is not as large of one as Quibids. Someone is getting a good deal, if its you then everything is great in your world and if not you gave it your shot and lost. No one made you send .60 cents a bid or $120.00 for a $50.00 gift card. No one mislead you you didnt comprehend what was going on. you are what business and credit card companies love to have as a customer. IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND DONT PARTICIPATE !!!!!
nightowl hey nightowl. How many times have you been to an auction and had to pay for your bids? I never have.
Quibids is not a scam. I only wish I would have thought of it. Someone MAY get a good deal. Many someones may spend alot of money and get nothing. That is stupidity on their part. You can alway buy the product at the market value, less what you have spent in purchase of your bids (this will lower the profits Qubids make so put your money where you mouth is.) In reality the only losers are those who want something for nothing (the “greedy”) who spends money on bidding and are not willing to pay what it is worth if they don’t win. And so what if the company makes out big (like I said, only wish I would have thought of it.) If you don’t like it DON’T BID! Stay out of the way for those of us who are willing to commit. We don’t need you around mucking up the waters.
Noney@biz —- THANK YOU !!!! Thats what Ive been saying — IF they cant read and understand PLEASE stay off the site. There is a reason why some folks do better in life than others. Comprehension being the biggest. Think about it!
OH by the way Quibids is a BBB Accredited Business with a -A rating.
BBB is a scam. Any business owner knows this. They cold called me a year after I was in business and said I could join just cuz no one had complained about me yet. Then they charge you 365 bucks a year. They knew NOTHING about my business really. I could have been up to know good and just hadn’t been caught yet.
People keep talking about how much the bids cost and how the company is making a killing off of you. No not if your smart about it they are not making anything off of you. they make money off the other people that bid on it. like me for example i just got a 750gb hard drive on there for 10 bids and 76 cents. do the math and that is $6.76+$8 s&h= $14.76 not to bad for a $110 external hard drive. Of course they are making money on bids and yeah they made their money off of that but if your smart about it they don’t have to make their money back on you. they make 60 cents a bid and depending on how many people bid on it then they will get their money back that way.
You people are all crazy.
Emma – you shouldn’t own a business if you can’t speak proper English… “I could have been up to ‘KNOW’ good and just hand’t been caught yet.” HAHAHA – And Larry – you’re an idiot too. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but seriously do the math on how much you’ve spent bidding on Quibid and then come back and blog… now it’s one thing if you’re bidding on Violins and Telescopes, you’re obviously going to get a good deal on something like that because there isn’t much of a market for it – and they have to spend the money you used bidding on it to clean the dust off of the item because it’s been in inventory so long. It’s all relative and I don’t agree or disagree that there isn’t an up or down side here, because someone will prosper and others will lose a few bucks and get nothing in return… UNDERSTANDING Quibid is the key. Who cares how much someone is making – if I owned Quibid’s I’d be sitting back licking my chops and investing the hell out of my profit before I got shutdown.
I happen to be an expert on the difference of their/there/ our/are, to/too etc. I made a slip up, good grief.
LOL – AWWWWW — Come on buddy is that the best you got is to include me in an upper class of folks that I may feel quite comfortable being in. After all, to place me above you does humble me a bit …. OK Im over being humbled thanks all the same. The best thing for you to do is to stick with Farmville and licking your own chop. Oh one other thing — stay off of those penny auction sites, your just throwing your money out the window. (MY OPINION)
Not a scam at all! But you MUST BE CAREFUL and MUST DO A LOT OF WATCHING BEFORE BIDDING… Start small, bid on lower priced items to learn the ropes… recognize when it’s futile to be bidding and keep your eye on one or two auctions at a time… I watched a $2000 camera and a $999 speaker system sell for under $50 each because folks weren’t watching carefully & didn’t note that the more experienced bidders (by & large) had put it on “watch” but weren’t watching as the bidders dwindled off a few hundred $$ before normal and some lucky two bidders walked off with the big prizes for very little… USUALLY it goes up to 1/3 of the retail before folks drop off and USUALLY serious bidders don’t enter until it’s up to the average selling price, so we were all “blindsided” and missed out on a golden opportunity… It IS legit but it’s dangerous… My first day there, I lost ALL of my bids within an hour because I had no clue what I was doing… I watched, I learned… I’ve won AMAZING deals since…
I just registered this morning. Be warned that you credit card will be charged $75 for your first 125 bids. Nowhere in the registration process does it say that you will be immediately charged for anything, however they do request you credit card info. You do not know you have been charged until you check you email and find a Thank You for your purchase. This type of tactic my indicate the type of business you will be dealing with. I’m emailed (they don’t seem to have a phone number)their support requesting a refund and account cancellation.
Quibids is a scam, stay away!
I got a response from their support today. They said there was an indcation of a charge 3 times during the registration. I guest I missed all three. Hmmm!!! Well anyhow they said they have refunded my credit card for the full $75 and closed my account. They said it would take a couple of days for the refund to be credited to my card. It seems I got an immediate positive responce from their support and if I really do get my money back in a couple of days, I would have to say the company isn’t all that bad. As far as the auction process is concerned, you might want to google this and check it out. There seems to be many people that like it very much and others that hate it. But definately do your research first.
I’ve been watching Quibids for about a week now before I get involved, and have to say, it isn’t a Scam. If you understand how the site works, and understand that you have to pay for your bids, and can do basic math to figure out what you’re actually paying for a product, then I can see how you would do well on the site. I plan on getting involved on the site this week and as Cathy G (and Quibids themselves) suggest, will start with smaller auctions and work my way up. Of course Quibids is making a huge profit-that’s business-(do you think it actually costs Apple $500 to produce a 16GB iPad???)-but there are also a lot of people getting a lot of great deals on products. My advice is to go to the site and watch it without getting involved to understand it more. As for Dave’s advice on getting your research on Google or any other search engine, please remember and understand that anyone can post anything on the internet (hence this page), and most of the ‘information’ and ‘research’ you find on search engines are most likely 50%-90% false, and are mostly just opinions of people who have had bad experiences and wanted to write a blog about it. Do your own research on the Quibids site and form your own logical decision before you listen to others opinions…
@D.C you mention starting off small? If i’m paying money to purchase a Bid Pack why would I want to start small. Bid prices move up by 1 cent in THEORY! yet the consumers is charged more than that .60 cents per bid placed… meaning the penny auction itself is nothing more than a illusion, The reality is THE PENNY AUCTION PROCESS IS FAKE. No one gets anything for less than $60 that’s the point. The cheapest bid pack is $60 so if I don’t get $60 worth of goods i’m basically losing or lost my money… I want to also point out that Quibids does have affiliates read the terms… and 50% – 90% of the people recommending Quibids.com probably work or are affiliates of Quibids.
Steve — It is true that each bid does cost .60 and if you win a item with 10 bids that would be 6.00 + the auction price and postage + handling. You said the lowest price bid pack is 60.00 that is not correct the lowest priced pack is 27.00 but if you buy a pack and then decide that its not working for you I believe that they will buy back any unused bids. The bottom line is you can get really good deals but you have to pay attention to whats going on — The best thing is not to participate while Im bidding after all why would I want anyone else on the site. I am not an affiliate and dont work for Quibids. Does 50%-90% of the folks that recommend McDonalds work for McDonalds??
@Larry. Thanks For your comment. To anyone reading this although Larry might just be an all around nice nice guy!. What does Larry sound like to you??? LoL “Does 50%-90% of the folks that recommend McDonalds work for McDonalds??” hilarious! When I go to Mcdonalds I do not bid for a Happy Meal Larry…
Steve — That is true — But you cannot say just because someone would recommend a business that 50%-90% of those that did the recommending would be working for that particular business. Even though it may be hard for some to believe that there are still folks left that are genuine there are a few of us left. Look — what you do and believe is your business — As for Quibids — I enjoy getting a good deal once in awhile – Its your money — you earned it — if you want to spend it at Mcdonalds or Quibids that your choice. But if you make a bad decision thats also on you, be responsible and do your research and dont blame others for your short comings. Thanks for the compliment — By the way — WHAT DO I sound like ???? Same employeer for 30 + years and I wouldnt be a good Bot Im to old and there is not any severance.
@Larry The “50%-90%” was actually directed at DC. To answer your questions what do you sound like… To me you sound like a Quibids affiliate and if you’re not their affiliate I actually feel sorry you. Best of luck to you Larry keep the fight alive lol
A 3D TV is sold to a winning bidder for $101 / that is = to 10,100 bids @ .01 cent per bid x .60 cents per bid = $6060 on a TV that cost $1800 Quibids is getting filthy rich off of suckers who think they have a chance to win. The only real winner is Quibids.
@ Steve-No, I don’t work for Quibids. I am a Financial Professional and own a couple of businesses. Yes, 50%-90% of ‘Information’ that people ‘Research’ on the internet is false. Take for instance, if this was the only ‘Research’ site online, people would be falsely informed of Quibids without making their own decision. At the same time, anything with Scam attached to it isn’t going to be positive information. What kind of car do you drive? Ford, Toyota, Mercedes? It doesn’t matter-if there’s a site called FordScam.com, or LexusSucks.com, it’s not going to be positive information. My point was to go to the site yourself and make your own decision, like test-driving a car before making your opinion about it. By the way, I did get involved with Quibids yesterday-and I won 25 bids for $.01. Which means I actually spent $.60 + $2.00 service charge for $15 worth of bids…I’m a Financial Professional, but you don’t have to be to know that that’s a good deal…
@dc – good for you and your success with Quibids and thanks for your comment. I think the idea of penny auctions hurts the consumer more than it helps but you see things differently and that’s great too. Dc – If your story was the common story Quibids would go bankrupt because their business model is Flawed in my opinion… also even your comment shows that Quibids Really is not a Penny Auction website “I won 25 bids for $.01. Which means I actually spent $.60 + $2.00 service charge for $15 worth of bids…” you said that not me and you’re the supposed business professional. Good luck with those bid packs and purchasing your credits I took the kids to chuck e cheeses just the other day and that was fun too lol!
@Steve-I understand that my success with Quibids isn’t the norm. But I did my own research and watched the site for over a week to understand it more before I jumped on and got ‘Bid Crazy’, which I think may be a mistake most newer bidders are making. Quibids did their due diligence and has a page on their site dedicated to new bidders and what to be aware of. As for their business model-it’s actually ingenious-They are making their money on thousands of people buying bids-making money is Good Business-I actually got propositioned about 4-5 years ago to invest in the penny-auction site Dubli. At the time, penny-auctions were huge in Europe, but not here in the states. I was doing a lot of business on Ebay, and didn’t understand why anybody would want to pay for their bids, but now that I understand the concept more, I’m kicking myself for not investing, as Dubli is one of the top penny-auction sites…so, in my opinion of course, it’s not the business model that’s flawed, just people that don’t educate themselves on what’s really going on. I also appreciate your comments Steve-and as far as your comment about Quibids not really being a Penny Auction website, Yes, bids cost $.60, and your bid makes the price of the item go up by $.01-I’m sure you understand that, but even you have to agree that paying $2.60 for something that usually costs $15 is a good deal-I also have to agree with Larry-the more people that stay off of the site is a great advantage to those of us on there…
By the way…Funny you mentioned going to Chuck E Cheese-One of my businesses is Child/Family Entertainment Centers-How much do you have to spend at Chuck E Cheese to get enough tickets to get any prizes worth anything? I know their business model, and I’m positive Chuck is laughing all the way to the bank…just a thought when bringing up business models…
@dc good point about Chuck e Cheese! Quibids is laughing all the way to bank as well… I go to Chuck e cheese because I love my kids and wrote this blog post because I love my country. screw Dubli and screw Quibids I hope people take Larry’s advice as well because if they do all your flawed strategies go down the drain with Quibids! Quibids, Dubli all these site are NOT Penny Auctions they’re Marketing Gimmicks!
Know Your Odds Before You Give Out Your Credit Card-Lordy!
People in general suprise me and I thought we started a new year 2011! Just like kids; you dangle somthing shinny in front of them and they jump; consumers will actually put a credit card on file to get that shinny object. And stop misuse of the word “scam”. You shoud be scammed for not researching!!! Maybe that will learn you!! Just because you were stupid and assumed your sale & lost the sale, doesn’t make it a scam. It means you assumed; im sure you all know the rest of that saying. People its like a casino!! The house always wins; lucky winners go away with the jackpot.(Lucky Bidders)= (Persistant Bidder)= (People who have all day to sit & out bid U).Thier’s like hundreds bidding for one single item, Duh. Black Friday is similar: great deals ,but thier are only so many that acutally get that item & so many more that line up to buy it. If your a person that needs an example than think about that.
I GOT MY MONEY BACK YESTERDAY. My bank account was credited the full $75 yesterday. Support was true to their word. I think this company is probably legit or I would have had to fight to get my money back. It all went very smooth. I think the bidding system is probably o.k. but you should really have a good understand of how it works before bidding, and start out slow with low cost items until you learn. I can’t say anything bad out this company except they should make the upfront cost during restration more apparent, and indicate more clearly how much you are going to be charged and exactly when.
Hello, I have been bidding on quibids for quite some time now and if you want to know a scam then stay there long enough and you will see one. They are taking people who win to much and isolating them on a page with new bidders who are bidding with free bids and thus making it impossible to win. I have won many times and I watch this site for atleast 8 hours a day and I am telling you that if you win and then all of a sudden you can’t win anything, then you are being scammed by them manipulating and grouping you with people who are bidding with the free bids they have been given, thus not caring if they lose and that is very unethical. Believe me in the end you will lose, unless you can win something and never go back. It is like a slot maching, if you hit the big one, just get up and walk away, not put all of the winnings back in the machine. I know how to bid and how to win, when I am on an even playing field, but no one should manipulate any auction the way quibids is doing, and Larry good luck to you, but believe me, before you are through they will come out ahead.
ibid — I havent played as long as you and so far I’m way ahead. Maybe Im just hitting right and lucky — but so far im doing quite well. Not saying I win everytime but I also dont lose everytime and my winnings are by far greater than my loses. I agree you really have to watch what your doing — Ive seen alot of folks go bid crazy, I can only assume they are using the BUY IT Now option, if not — ouch.
Maybe it’s not a scam, but bait and switch it is. For example, why do they compare themselves to e-bay (in mega large typeface) when they are a completely DIFFERENT type of business? E-Bay is a legit AUCTION site, i.e. if you bid the highest price – you win. And no one else pays to just bid. QB is more like a “Play to Win” type of site and they should mention it FIRST. This way, most people think that they are just another auction site, much like E-Bay; “better” in fact, since their merchandise is “always new” and shipping is “fast”. Come on!
And, Larry, “your” is not the same as “you’re”.
“A 3D TV is sold to a winning bidder for $101 = to 10,100 bids @ .01 cent per bid x .60 cents per bid = $6060 on a TV that cost $1800. Quibids is getting filthy rich off of suckers who think they have a chance to win.”
The thing is – how many of those 10,100 bids are the same people? What if the person that won it only bidded 5 times? Of course there was probably two or three people that bidded away all their bids and lost out, and are pissed and feeling it is a scam only because they didn’t pay attention and do some homework before bidding at the site.
This is the first day that I registered yet I didn’t pay the sign on fee yet. If you put in a wrong Credit Card Number, which I did by mistake, it goes to a second page to put in another number OR to sign up with your Paypal. I did that but didn’t hit enter. Right there I almost got dupped into taking money out of my account, so be aware of that.
I’m going to look into this for about a week before throwing money their way. I’ll also come up with my own strategy on bidding for things. I’m not into high-priced items and will start off on smaller items that will be beneficial for me
I buy and sell on eBay and only deal with what will work for me in the long run. I’ve been gambling before and only spent what I wanted to spend. When I won I changed the figures to only spend certain amounts. In the end I made 50% more than what I went in with. My friend on the other hand left with 25% of what he went in with, losing out on over $1200 within a 45min period.
Yeah, eBay and Quibids will make a ton of money off me as well as other people (that’s just business) but if you do some easy and basic homework you can find ways to turn your expenses into something worthy.
H ey tickleMe QB – d idn t k nows we s wa s be in grAd ed —
Simple Math. Let’s say an item is going up 1 bid at a time. Each “bid” raises the purchase price by one cent increment. Each bid represents $0.60 someone paid to Quibids. So let’s assume a penny bid is up to $200.00 for the bid price of a product with a $899 “buy it now.” Each bid up to $200 is NOT 1 penny! It is one bid, $0.60 X 20000 (pennies) which gives Quibid, $12,000 on one object, on it’s way up to an average $675 (75%) “winning bid.” Quibid should stop the bidding when they get a retail income from the bidding. Also who can prove they are not auto-bidding just to keep that last 10 seconds running forever?
couple things about QuiBids.com:
1. the credits you buy ARE 100% refundable
2. if you DO NOT win the auction, you have the option to “buy it now” at retail price, but every penny that you spent bidding on the item is DISCOUNTED from the retail price. That means if you bid 100 times on a laptop with retail price of $600, meaning you have spent $60 ($0.60 per bid x 100 bids) bidding on the item, then you have the option to buy the laptop for $540 if you do not win the auction ($600 retail price – $60 spent on bidding)
The point is if your gambling and trying to buy cheap things to resell on ebay there’s a good chance you are going to get screwed. However, if you are simply shopping for things you want to buy anyway, you will either save a ton of money winning an auction, or you will simply pay the price you would have paid in a store anyway. Personally, I’m a fan of QuiBids.com
People must stop this!
It is crazy that people do not see that trivially simple math as Eric Mehan and others here explained! They just make those guys rich and poor themselves for nothing.
Im also a fan of QUIBIDS – as you could probably tell from my post and I hope they get filthy rich — why — cause thats the American way — If you have a business you want to get rich –filthy, stinkin rich. all those like gsb are just jealous and cant stand someone getting ahead of them in anything. Im assuming you all are not living with your parents and are able to spend your money of your own free will without others telling you what to buy and when to buy it, unless you’re one of the spread the wealth types. If I got it and you dont, you want me to give you some of mine cause you are to lazy to earn it. — You need a better job. Best thing is just stay off the site you are FOD to those of us that enjoy participating.
I am not a gambler nor am I a fan of on line auctions, but I saw Quibids.com and wanted to see what it was about. I singed in and of course they wanted a credit card account. This was not an unusual request. I looked at several items, but never bid on anything and I certainly did not buy anything. Much to my surprise when my credit card bill arrived, lo and behold a charge for 60 dollars was recorded. I immediately sent a notice to my card company and told them that I
never bid on or bought anything. To me this is a scam. So I would advise anyone if you want something go to some legitimate vendor and purchase it.
1. You guys need to STOP doing the math on how much profit they are making! Read the past comments, it’s been done to death. Them making a huge profit is not the scam.
2. It seems everything that can be said has, so just read the past thread if you really want the low down.
3. Now that EVERYTHING and the kitchen sink has been said, maybe new comments can just be about those who actually bid and win and the customer service or stories about the bots (but that is pretty much been revealed) And not the same A. Look how much they make
B. You are all stupid
C. It’s a scam!
D. They use robots!
E. Read before you sign up
Yada yada. I think everyone would appreciate some detailed encounters instead of ranting. But until they STOP using the robot bidders, it will always be a scam in my eyes.
I agree with Emma. Nobody has posted anything of any significance of their experience with Quibids. So here’s mine:
Started registration and was asked for credit card. Assumed it was for age verification so I gave it. Now I owned 100 bids for $60.00 that I did not approve. That is where they get the people hooked. If you have the bids – chances are you’ll use them.
Started bidding and won 5 out of 6 auctions. 3 Walmart Gift Cards, 1 Sorry Card Game and 1 25 Bid Voucher Pack. I spent some bids but winning was not difficult. Even referred a friend and was never credited with the 25 bids. Sent emails and no response.
After the 5th win, it became damn near impossible to win anything. It didn’t matter when I started bidding (low, middle or high). There was always another bidder in the auction. If one stopped, another jumped in. I wanted to test a theory so I kept bidding the full amount of bids to get the Buy It Now option. Then I just bought the item.
Seemed odd that auctions ended so low except when I was involved. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I wanted to test the theory again. I bought a baby pack (45 bids) and a beginner pack (75 bids). I looked for actions that would not be much of an appeal to people. I chose a $15 Subway gift card. The ending cost of previous auctions was about $.20 – $.90. I jumped in at about $.45. I was going to bid until it told me my bids + auction cost exceeded retail value. Got in a bidding war with 2 people. I used about 20 bids and reached retail. Had to stop. Auction ended next bid around the $2.00 point.
Tried a $25 Walmart Card. Same story. $25 Walmart gift cards fall in the $1.50 – $2.50 range (many lower than $1.50). I started my bidding at over $2.00. Used a lot of bids and bought it with the Buy It Now option. Watched a LCD TV end at less than $.50 soon after.
Now the theory. That after the fifth win one will become confident that they can win since they have won about 5 times already. And since many people have no idea about bots, they will just think that they lost and keep adding money. But after a few wins the member is moved to another server where the bots are located. If a paying member joins an auction, his name becomes a keyword or trigger word that sets off the bots.
As far as the products involved, I believe they are just using a drop shipping company since the products do not come from Oklahoma.
Nothing on this site adds up to legitimate or ethical.
Good details JS. I think there is some rule about how many wins you can have in 24hrs. Still not sure why they keep letting people bid to death if they don’t allow you to win. More sneaky policies.
Hello,
Is the initial buy In the only monies USD that need to be paid in order top start QUIBIDS -Besides the NORM- taxes, etc.????
Thank You,
Shane Meadows,
Meadows Industries M.I.
well. But I went ahead and purchased them (buy it now) at a discounted price, because they will subtract your bids (.60 per bid)from the purchase price. Granted, you could find the products 5 to 10 percent cheaper easily, but that’s the chance I’m willing to take to get an extremely good deal. (50 – 80 percent off). They could be running the bids up, but I don’t believe they do. The reason the some of the bids get high, is because there are multiple people commited to either win or buy it now, so I will keep bidding until I have used enough bids to buy it now or I win. Quibids does stop you from bidding when the thhreshhold has been met and there is no reason for you to keep bidding.
I hate to say I wasted money on them and can say first hand what actually happens on Quibids. Simply put, bids cost 60¢ each. Each bid starts at 1¢ and increases by 1¢ each bid, so something going for $1 has 100 bids on it, which is a total of $61 spent on that particular item.
Really watch out for bid vouchers, in general I found the total bid on them to be approximately 4x the value (a 50 bid voucher will go for about $2 on average).
For example, I saw an 64G iPad go for about $45. A good deal right? Well let’s see. 45 x 100 = 4500 bids; 4500 x .60 = $2700 spent on bids; add in the cost of the item and that iPad just sold for $2745.
A 16G flash drive went for approximately $2.25…not even a super great deal as is. 2.25 x 100 x .6 + 2.25 = $137.25. Good thing flash drives are worth that much!
Josh, you just regurgiated what has been said only a several dozen times.
Bids are 61 cents and quibids makes a landslide profit on almost every item! Any other newsflashes? Anyone else who wants to contribute with the same genius observations? Just READ a few of these posts before you BLEH all over the page.
yeap I agree with most comments. I sat here and watched a bidder run the clock to the last minute. Once it got to “0” you’d think Ok. that bidder GOT it! Oh NO…..in a second the clock rebounds to 10 seconds again….. Poor Flora kept on bidding!!!! I was totaly amazed to see this happen over and over again. I wish I could just have told him/her (Flora) to just stop waisting your money. It seems they have this on Auto pilot sort of say and keep the clock running just so a bidder can keep bidding on it. I agree this is sort of gambling and you’ll never know when the item will be yours.
Look people… The bottom line is “NO ONE WILL GIVE YOU NOTHING FOR FREE OR ALMOST FREE>. Someone commented that the house has to make money and would you really think someone is going to give you an item that costs hundred of dollars for $10 or $20 dollars? Come on wake up!!! It’s like going to the shore and playing those games……put in a Quater to get a stuffed animal. The animal costs $3 or $4 dollars…..you spend 10 dollar in quaters trying to get it. Just by the damn thing….you’ll save money…..Hope this helps you?
Larry, you are a sh!t-stick.
logged in to see what was up with quibids and they immediately charged my credit card for $60 of bids i did not want… be wary there scary Charlie in Denver 2/8/2011
Hey Charlie — How did they get your credit card number????
A COMPLETE AND ABSOLUTE SCAM. I was very interested in this site after reading an article about it on online. Being the anal retentive sort I decided to watch it closely for a while. (and by closely, I mean i actually stared at my computer and counted, on paper, the number of bids being made by certain constant bidders) The item on auction was a simple netbook computer worth just over $300 retail. I witnessed not 1, not 2, but 3 bidders bid enough times so that their total cost was well beyond the retail price of the item. In the end, one of the three persistent bidders won a $300 notebook, for which he paid well over $400. No one, and I mean NO ONE, can tell me those three bidders weren’t QuiBid bots!!!
all the products listed for bidding are surely very tempting, i almost signed up with bidhere before stumbling upon a page relating real experiences being scammed by the site… thus i was sourcing for other legit auction site… apparently most are scams… or perhaps someone know something?, btw, thanks for sharing the info
Well really i dont see a problem wiht the site some call it a scam there is no scam really ok yall did all the math and siad people pay $2,000 for a $500 item really it took like 30 people bidding to get there and out of all thoese people the only lost like what 60 bucks and to the winner the spoiles so whos being scammed really?????
why does everyone think its scam to make money just bc you dont go to mcdonalds and say hey it only cost them 15 cents to make a dollar cheeseburger their profit margin is to high mcdonalds is a scam no you dont you get in line with the other billion people and wait for your crappy dollar cheeseburger. the fact is the makers of quibids came up with a great idea you dont spend over retail because you dont place every bud in the total cost if you placed 100 bids for a tv and won your total price was 60 bux not some astronomical value of the total bids of everyone involved so the make a killing and you save if you win. hell im thinking of starting a penny auction
I don’t care what anyone else says that is relatively “good” about Quibids. IT IS NOTHING BUT A SCAM!!! They obviously use bots in the Auctions. If you have a problem with what I am saying then go check it out yourself. Sit and count the number of bids these “bidders” bid on the high end items. They pay for the item over and over again but still keep bidding. Call that an addiction to bidding? No, just bots making Quibids money. It is sad that they can legally do this. It is sad that they can do this and feel good about it. I don’t know where people are getting off saying they are just making money, or saying that they are putting profits back into products but wake the hell up. They have been around for a while now; so if they make 12,000.00 on a Macbook then they can just buy 6 more to place up for auction. Then those 6 go for 12,000 a piece, then they have 36 more they can buy. Come on….they make bank scamming the crap out of people and it is wrong. Who wants a company built on unethical garbage while loading their pockets wasting the working class’s money? Quibids does…
Martin…You are a dumbass for agreeing with this stupid site. Comparing it with cheeseburgers from McDonald’s? Wow, when is the last time you stood in line at McDonald’s and bid on a “crappy” cheeseburger? At least you know you will get what you are buying. McDonald’s doesn’t use bots to try and outbid you on a cheeseburger. They are a scam because they DO take people’s money who really do not understand what is really going on. Preying on the weak and uneducated; I don’t care if it is the people’s fault for checking this out. A company should not rely on the ignorance of the community. It should be there to help people get the best deal on items they otherwise may not be able to afford. This may occasionally happen, but not if their bots are going to keep raking in the profits. Screw Quibids, screw people who thinks it’s a good idea, and screw people who comment about me venting on this SCAM OF A SITE.
I am poor guy making $350 a week don’t even speak/read english as u all guys do, but one thing I can tell u is that I read all terms and conditions on Quibds (took me some hrs. to translate everyting in to google)get register understand it make some losess/winings the first time then get some experince in the field and now I am more happy making my winnings, shopping, and my entertainnment at the same time, haa! and some $ales to my friends. I think Quibids is like a Y2k next generation business for me and some people
Examp: My 85 years old lanlord told me one day that she hates computers I ask her why, she told me ’cause they stole jobs from people on my generation….I decided no to laugh on her comment but I think the same is happening here on some people comments they dont want to realise about Quibids getting better than other autions/business…and about the bots well they don’t bother me!
For the FanboysQuibds please don’t scare greedy/cheaper people from the QBsite they help us on one way o another to shape the matrix.
emma, really? you have to have control and keep telling people what to say and what not to say on this site? give it a break.
yea theyre really racking it in hand over foot :/ sitetrail.com/quibids.com
heres how you do it. you see something you like, lets face it, there is some good stuff on there, you buy the amount of bids it takes to “buy it now”.
you are willing to pay full price because you get the excitement of the chase. once you put up enough bids to buy it, you cant bid anymore, no reason to for you. heres how you win, youre the winning bidder, clocks running down, 321, two or three people hit the bid. someone is gonna think, i dont need to bid, someone else will, if youre lucky, everyone will think that at once. YOU are only allowed to bid up to retail price.
isnt that what its all about, how much YOU spend.
Take this from their terms and conditions
QuiBids limits the number of auctions that a single user account can win in a 28 day period to a maximum of eight, excluding bid voucher auctions. In addition, a single user account may only win or be winning a maximum of three auctions per 24 hour period. QuiBids also limits the number of times a user account can win an item over $285 in value during a 28 day period to one per item. In addition, a user account may only win one item over $999.99 in a 28 day period.
i sat and watched an auction for one hour…..
QUIBIDS states that you can only “Bid a Matic” for 25 bids…
However during this one auction….
klnewman, WEARESORRY, angelwinbig, and others have had over 100 bids done automatically with one or two thrown in as single bids!
I am an idiot for thinking i could win these.
I singed up for quibids last night, bought $60/103 bids and won a 47″ 3d hd TV. I set the auto bid at a price well above what it was being bid at and went to bed. When I woke up this morning I had won the TV for 29.76 plus 19.99 s&h and I still have 39 bids left. With a little research and some common sense you can win these auctions.
Looks like realdeal78 is here to advertise … How did you get a job in quibids? Do they have a “career” section on their website?
I saw Quibids on TV and was intrigued…I am glad I came here and read a lot of these posts. I have seen more than enough to know to stay away from quibuids. Just saved me 60 dollars. Thanks =)
Haha doorbuster! Love the comment to realdeal78. You are so right too. Anyone here trying to say that it is a great site must work for them. People can go check it out and look for themselves. Now, keep in mind that you will see items go for crazy cheap prices before and after you sign up for the site. Do not fall for this!!! Cheap prices lure you in. However once you bid on any of the items (doesn’t matter what item) you will find that you will NEVER get to see these cheap prices. I promise that you will pay retail or near retail price if you do win. This site is a scam and not worth anybodies time.
Just wanted to add one more thing. What about when they first started out? The didn’t just create the site and have people hoard in there at once. It took time to get users. So, what about the first few that joined? They would have cleaned them out right? Winning $1,000 items for pennies. They would have lost so many products that they would not be able to stay in business. How do the counteract this though? Bots that bid up the value. Nobody bids until you do. For the very first member who joined…I bet he lost his ass and could not figure out how. They will never admit they use bots though. I do not see how this is legal but they get away with it.
Some of the SCAM part comes in the way they list the “selling price”. On a camera I am looking at, it says “Recently sold for $0.19”. That is not true at all. The sales price was 19*$0.60+$0.19 or $11.59 plus shipping ($10.99) and taxes, if applicable. That’s a true total on the person’s credit card of $22.58. That is WAY DISTANT from nineteen cents!!!
Yes, still less than the cost of a retail purchase of the same item. So why do they have to lie? Unknown for a self-proclaimed “ethical” company.
If they want to lower the amount of confusion that they are generating, they could at least list the REAL SELLING price.
@Mike Morrow – The reality is the 19 cents could have been called 19 points, 19 apples, 19 giraffes or 19 Gorilla’s. But they will never call it that because then they couldn’t call it a PENNY AUCTION – If they did that they would have to call it a “point” auction or a “Gorilla auction” But then again what h*ll do I know??? Have FuN PeOpLe!!!
Personally I think you all need to stay off the site. Dont like or need the competition. SOOOOOOO take your own advice and stay home.
$100 Target gift card which they bought for … $85. They have made over $200 on it (and still going up) and this happens over and over. What a rip! Making a killing indeed! Now that’s a business model I wish I had thought of. But, then, I would not have implemented it.
Yeah, thought it was great and totally got suckered. I did win an Ipad for $43. 28 days, 8 of which are “weekends” so 20 business days and no Ipad, not even a tracking number. Several emails and all I got was “I spoke to the vendor and because of the current weather conditions in the midwest shipping is delayed. Kicker is, it was paid for and should have been sent out 19 days before the midwest storm. Never again, I will wait until the 28th of February and thats it. Will contact Better Business Bureau and PayPal if I don’t have it by then. The fact they make $6000 on every $100 bid is sick, I should have really did the math before I joined, I fell for that Credit Card verification crap too, then I saw it gone from my account and figured okay I’ll try it. BIG MISTAKE! DON’T DO IT!
I bet there were some upset auto bidders this morning! I watched a 100 pack of bids go to the bitter end last night. It sold for “$12.15”. That is 1215% over actual value. Most of the time there were 7 or 8 bidders until the final 10 minutes when it went to 4 then to 1.
So almost everyone there bid at least what it cost. I hope the automatic clock and bidding stop worked for them because they spent their entire bid pack bidding for this.
But, then, they only have 2 hours to buy and use the bid value to offset the purchase price. If they set autobid and went to sleep, their 2 hours will expire before they wake and all will be lost.
What a rip=off. That discounted purchase time should be at least 24 hours!! quibid really made out on this one.
Oh, and another little scam they run. When the bids get outrageously high, they remove the listing from the home screen so they only leave the really cheap ones on there and hide the outrageous ones where they are making over ONE THOUSAND percent (it was removed before it got that high but bidding continued).
What a rip off. It was interesting seeing the bidding continue for about 2 hours on a 10 second clock and see how the autobids sometimes click off at 9 seconds, uselessly wasting the bidder’s bids over and over.
What a RIPOFF!!!!
im so glade i came here first to look at this q-penny b.s auctions and wellyes i seen it to on tv and i will never ever ever bid buy or look at this b.s site and i dont need a reason its clear to see if you want to throw your money away go 4 it and if you dont want to then do what im doing now,,,,,,BYE
After enrolling in Quibids, I immediately knew I had made a mistake. Quibids is not an auction because only one person pays in a real auction. The second chance opportunity is just a gimmic. The early bidders are the real fools on big ticket items because those persons bid up the price on the auctions that can last 10 hours or more.
P.T. Barnum said “There is a sucker born every minute”, and Quibids proves it infatically.
The founder is from the University of Oklahoma (OU Sucks) and I believe he is using deceptive trade practices that are totally unfair to the non-winners 95% of the time. Some people pay three time values for Bid Vouchers (I repeat: There is a sucker born every minute)
By converting 60cents to One Penny, you are seduced into thinking you are getting a good deal. The fraud is calling an item $50.00 when you have to pay $3000 to win (5000 times 60 cents = $3000). Totally deceptive.
If you want to buy an iPad or a nice camera, do so at a computer or camera store. Forget QuiBids
today date feb-25-2011 ….bad bad i spend $200 on quibids and won “nothing yes i said nothing””” this is a scam … just like everybody said it has to be the computers program to outbid…… quibids claim that stuff or thing goes for 2.50 5.00 or 50.00 or 100.00 for a $1000 dollars value but the soonest you bid it will never end it will go for undreds more and at the end always a automatic bid wings ..this its ridiculous ….do not do what i did spend $200 dollars wasted and get nothing please be aware buyers ,”””””quibids its just scammers””””” ….i did watch for weeks before bidding on anything i did not just bid crazy but still got nothing and loose $200
Wake up people. If 4 people are bidding on a PS3 and they are all committed enough to go all the way to buy it now, then all 4 people will be buying PS3s from the auction. I am sure some people fall out of the bidding war and then Quibids makes free money. The free money only goes to Quibids when a bidders falls out of an auction because they that were not committed to their item.
Some of you are complete, and I do mean complete, idiots. It’s an AUCTION website, which means that UNLIKE eBay, you’re not GUARANTEED a win. However, they DO allow you to buy the item using the Buy It Now feature for the retail price minus what you have already spent in bids. Start small, you will NEVER win a large item auction until you get the basics down first. READ Quibids101. It explains the process and helps you to bid better than just jumping in and throwing bids away. Bidding smart is the key, and you still may not win. It’s fun, but you can’t go in to it knowing you’re going to get an Ipad for $2.00, or a MacBook for $15. You have to understand the process. Once you do, and once you do your homework, it’s a far better experience for everyone. But it sounds like most of you are too ignorant to figure that out anyway so just don’t go back to the site. That way I don’t have to outbid you to get what I want.
More misinformation on you fools who can’t figure quibids.com out. If an auction ends and the price of the item is $.22 (twenty two cents) say, for an mp3 player, and I only used 2 bids to win it…then my total cost is $1.20 (2 bids at 60 cents per bid) plus $.22 (the final price of the item)…plus whatever they charge to ship the item. It’s not a scam, it’s just not a site for morons…and sadly many of you qualify as just that.
I stumble on this site through my spam box and when i 1st saw it. it sounds like heaven came down and gave me a KISS 😀 but then i looked deep in the wilderness and started slashing and bashing criminals to make it to the top and found the QUIBIDS BOSS and asked myself is this gambling?. cause i have experience in gambling and i play poker and even that is FARE like you WIN SKILL FARE. the QUIBIDS BOSS SAID: hey you can buy a bid pack.. and i was like a bid pack?. what is that?. and the QUIBID BOSS SAID it’s credit. and what came in my mind was oh just like a POKER SITE put your money in the account and get a check unless you run out of MONEY 1ST. 😀 so then i had to look DEEPER into the QUIBIDS BOSSES EYES OO and asked him. so can i use my BID PACK TO PAY FOR THE ENTIRE WIN AUCTION FOR THE ITEM?. and the QUIBIDS Boss said NO. you have to then use your CARD AGAIN TO PAY FOR THE DIFFERENCE?. and i was like huh!!. so i asked the QUIBIDS BOSS how much is the bet $1 cent is $0.60 cent? and the QUIBIDS BOSS SAID YES. so i said it’s a $0.60 bid not $0.01 you trying to confuse me. and the QUIBIDS BOSS SAID YOUR RIGHT. 😀 so then i told the QUIBIDS BOSS that he was making too much money for the items he claims are penny’s on the DOLLAR. and the QUIBIDS BOSS LOOKED AT ME AND LAUGHED AND STRUCK ME WITH HIS SWORD AND SAID SHUT UP!! I DO WHAT I WANT WHEN I WANT!! I ROB PEOPLE FOR ITEMS THAT I WORTH $30.00 bid vouchers!!. and I said how much!!??. and the QUIBIDS BOSS SAID you know when the item sells for $1.47 and people are paying $0.60cents a bid wich is $0.01 penny TIMES THAT BY 147xtimes 0.60x =$88.20 while the item of a bid pack voucher is $30 i told the QUIBIDS BOSS THAT HE JUST MADE $58.20 CENT in profit and only 1 person won the bid and other lost and lose there Bid pack credit witch is $58.20 cent. TELL ME THAT IS NOT GAMBLING AT LEAST IN POKER I WIN AND LOSE AND I KNOW IT’S GAMBLING/SKILLS. the QUIBIDS BOSS ordered a hit on me now his Gangsters are after me and I’m hiding for the rest of my days searching and lurking in the concrete jungle looking for more QUIBIDS BOSSES and tell them they are playing a DIRTY GAME and sooner or later people will catch on. if something SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT USUALLY IS 😀 i bet you the QUIBIDS BOSS MAKES MORE THEN $10,000 a day in this so called AUCTION. I GOT A NEW NAME FOR IT I’LL CALL IT GAMBLING/AUCTION. people come and try to win the item with a GREAT BARGAIN NOT LOSE THE AUCTION AND STILL BUY THE ITEM!!. IF I LOSE THE AUCTION I DON’T WANT TO LOSE MONEY $$ IN THE PROCESS AND THEN BUY THE ITEM ANYWAYS THAT IS JUST STUPID FOR THAT I’LL JUST GO TO BEST BUY FROM THE START 😀 ALL IN ALL IF YOU LIKE GAMBLING GO PLAY POKER IF YOU LIKE AUCTIONS GO SOMEWHERE WHERE YOU DON’T SPEND MONEY TO LOSE THAT JUST DON’T MAKE SENSE TO ME 😀
I honestly think quibids is a brilliant idea, and i may go start my own penny-bid site! What a great way to make money!
I tried it out and did well, really well, scoring “gift cards” for cheap during their slow times. On busy times I didn’t bother bidding since there are too many people in bidding wars.
I understand gaming strategy, and can to OK on the site (I don’t know about large ticket items yet). Most people will get killed. Well, not killed unless they are idiots. QuiBids does allow you to buy any item at “retail” if you lose at the bidding game, with the amount you spent in bids taken off the retail price. But is the retail price accurate? For the big ticket items the retail price is too high.
This is a great scheme for QuiBids since they usually collect many times the price of each item (100 bids or $1.00 x $0.60 for a $15 gift card is an example). The bidders can justify a loss if they simply buy the gift card for $15 and pay a mailing fee. Where the average bidder will get screwed is with the big ticket items. Sure, some will hit the lottery but most will either lose or be forced to buy them at “retail” prices that are likely 10% higher than Amazon.
This is an addendum to my above post. QuiBids is not a scam, but it is a scheme. Most people will, IMHO, do poorly unless they stick to small ticket items and be willing to “Buy it Now” if they lose. My experience with small items (gift cards) is good, but I am too scared to bid on large ticket items since the “retail” price is too high.
Guys…This is the best website ever! I won over 3 Ipads and 5 Ipod 4gs with this site, I AM THRILLED!
This site is all about winning, now one can lose…you should try it!
BULLSH*T!!!!!!!!
THIS SITE IS A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY DON’T SIGN UP…
You see…the letters of the word “Ripoff” almost spell “Profit” (Just need 1 ‘t’ instead of the ‘f’ hehe xD)
Yeah I’m not a fool AND I’M PROUD
This site is a scam – You don’t beleive me, just go to to live person, its some sort of a bot, reading what you wrote and sending back a canned reply. I took notice of thsi when asking about their service, so I asked who won the super bowl this year and another canned reply that had nothing to do with the super bowl.
They are quite good at fkn us aroung though, just scammers!
Test it for yourself, ask question that their is no way they would hve a canned reply for stuck in their database already
I wonder if an item retails for $600.00 and you wish to bud on it, instead of wasting time an money, start your bid at what your maximum you would pay for it. If you decide 400.00 wasa good price, would the oters bid higher? I would think not!!!
What do you think?
Vin
I’d be OK with quibids if it was merely what the simple math claims to be: a penny auction site with bids costing $0.60 each. That way you know what’s going on.
Unfortunately, it’s not. It’s a pyramid scheme. Here’s why: if you spend enough time and bids, you will be getting your bids much cheaper since you can bid for bid packages (up to 3 a day). So eventually your bids may only cost you a few pennies each. Now here’s the kicker: this would make the site quite unprofitable to run. The real suckers are the first-time bid package buyers who pay the full price. Long-time users essentially leech off of first timers, and the scheme is facilitated by quibid. With no more first-time bid package buyers, the scheme has to crash because financially it won’t make sense anymore.
So it’s not even true that quibids makes money “equitably” on 60 cent bids: it only makes money on suckers who just got in. The long-timers leech off the first-timers. If all bids cost 60 cents ea, the bidding landscape would look very different. If you watch an auction and you see someone bid 100-200 times, they didn’t pay 60 cents per bid. They maybe paid 3 cents per bid.
To really “win” on quibids you absolutely have to spend all of your initial $60 on getting the bid packages valued at $0.02-$0.03 per bid. Each bid package will cost you $1 or $2 in transaction fees, so there’s no way of getting bids for free, but you can buy plenty of packages for ~$2.50 total out-of-paypal expense per package. You’ll probably have to spend an extra $100 or so for “shipping” (haha) to get all the bids you need.
Only after you’ve got those bid packages you shoud start bidding on “stuff”. Because if you don’t, you’re at a real disadvantage when you spend $0.60 per bid against bidders who spent 20-30 times less. As soon as Quibid loses the new customer stream, the end prices will start edging higher up as most bidders will have “cheap” bids. By then, there’ll be no way of getting an iMac or MacBook for anywhere under 70% of Apple retail. And at that point quibids will stop making any sense either, as one can easily get better deals on eBay for stuff that’s almost new — people often don’t return to Apple because they think (wrongly) they can get more money back on eBay (vs. paying Apple 10% restocking fee for opened items).
So if you want to get good deals off Quibid, your window of opportunity may not last much longer, but you have to commit: spend $60 on bid packages, and bid aggresively, perhaps use greasemonkey on firefox to do the bidding automatically for you — that way you avoid limitations of bid-o-matic. Also keep in mind that they limit how much stuff you can get, for really worthwhile items ($1k+) you’re limited to one per 28 days. Also you can only get three bidding packages per day if you bid for them (not buy at full price) — they don’t count towards any other limits.
I suggest that if one is serious about this, there’s no way but writing some software to gather intelligence for you: who is bidding on what, estimating their number of available bids (by looking at whether they bid for bid packages!), etc. All perfectly legal, mind you. If you don’t have the technical expertise, you’ll simply be paying for the pleasure for those who know what they are doing.
I went to the website just to check it out. I put my credit card number in, thinking that it was just in case I chose to purchase a package. After I completed making my account it came to a page saying that I had bought a 60 dollar package! This is a trick, and should be avoided! I’m really hoping that I will be able to get my money back! they’re phone service is only monday through thursday, so I was unable to call and ask for my money back. What a joke! I would not recommend these sites to anyone!
Saw their ad on TV and got interested. Visited their site and tried watching on a particular item (LG 55″ 1080p 480Hz 3D LED HDTV) at around 9am and the bid was around $28.00
So i thought for a while, if 1 bid = 1 cent increment on the bid, that means $28.00 = 2,800 bids so far. quibids is now making (2,800 bids x .60) $1,680.00 so far.
fast forward… it’s now 11:30 PM, and checked my watchlist which is the LG 55″ LED TV and now, the current bid is $190.00 which means there are now 19,000 bids.
if 1 bid = 60 cents
quibids is now making (19,000 bids x .60 cents) = $11,400.00
WOW!!!! what a nice profit for quibids!!! and the original price of the LED TV is $2,623.00.
and to think, 190.00 is still counting.. when will it end? we don’t know.
bidders losses their money to the house… house WINS all bidders money..
woohoo!!
well, this is just my opinion..
good thing, i didn’t sign up..
I love Quibids!!!!! I have won 2 apple ipods, a grill,a grill cooking set. bread maker, Gift cards for walmart, outback steakhouse, lowes and Target. 2 cd alarm clock radios radios, A rocket laucher set, night vision goggles, 2 wii remotes, just dance, super mario bros, wii fit board, 3 blue ray movies, 2 sets of walkie talkie 24 mile range radios with chargers. These are just a few of the things I’ve personally won cheap!!! I have not won every auction I’ve participated in… far from it but I have won alot!!!! The key is to be willing to pay retail. The bids go towards the purchase price of the item. So even if you loose you don’t walk away empty handed. I have taken this option a few times, but like I said i was willing to pay retail in the beginning. You shouldn’t go in there expecting to win a 55in plasma tv, because it probably wont happen. It is kinda like gambling it’s fun, a little stressful but awesome when you win. Watch the auctions a few times before you try to bids also watch the video and read there hints. I should just keep this sight to myself but its someone elses turn to win. I hope this helps.

FREE REGISTRATION IS NOT “FREE” ON THIS WEBSITE! They have a pre-checked box when u register. “The purchase is made unintentionally” according to Quibids “support” (If you over look the check box in question)
…They also only give you 103 bids (AKA $1.03) for your unintentional $60.00. IN MY EYES THEY BASICALLY ARE TRICKING YOU into thinking it’s a free dollar worth of bids to explore their site.
THEN AFTER YOU CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND REALIZE YOU HAVE OVER DRAFTED they proceed in telling you that because the bids I “unintentionally purchased” were used and they now can not refund my money.
I have been fighting with them for a week now (twitter, facebook, review sites, Quibids support) in order for them to consider refunding my money. I am still waiting for them to refund it back into my account. Quibids quoted me 1-2 business days for the refund transaction to go through, now it has turned into 5-6.
Even if I didn’t have this awful experience with this Quibids I would still rate it as CRAP and SCAM because the prices are ridiculous. SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! By the way its almost impossible to win anything. Stick to playing poker fellow gamblers out there.
DON’T GET DUPED LIKE ME!
I am a friend of one of the employees who works for the company associated with quibids.com. He has informed me on how the company is run and I feel the need to share with everyone that it is, sadly, a SCAM. Many of my friends have came to me and told me about their experiences on the site and how they got screwed over. I am not permitted to say how it is run but I do want everyone to know that they have it set up to take your money. You cannot win an item until the price is very high, and even then, the last bidder will win the item. It sickens me what they are doing and so I feel it is my job to inform everyone. Please, save your money and your time and DO NOT sign up with this site. If I can stop one person from being scammed then I feel that I did what I needed to!
I joined Quibids last week and so for I’ve won an Ipad strap, 3 giftcards, a rocket, and 25 bid pack. I really like it but it is very competitive. What I’ve noticed about 6 times already is the same bidder is bidding on 2 large items such as a 55″ LED tv and a 250 bid pack at the same time. I’m starting to think that Quibids does have bots. That is just a little to odd for me. I know when I’m bidding on a particular item, I’m focused on my opponents bidding styles. I would never nor think anyone else would bid on 2 large items, using the bid-o-matic function at the same time. Has someone else seen this happen?
