The Tim Hortons so-called identity crisis stems from Minimum Wage Hikes, You Morons! – August 22, 2019,
When you become an owner of a Franchise you do so with the expectation of a return on your investment. When people ask the government to artificially raise wages, businesses have to adjust, businesses with employees have to take greater risks because chances are, customers aren’t going to like the price increases. Manufacturing ending up in China not because business people like to pay shipping costs, manufacturing jobs ended up in China because Employees want more than Consumers are willing to pay.
Let’s say most of what e consume in Canada was made in Canada, well consumers would have to accept the fact the government is pro-worker and anti-consumer which would mean that all private companies would have to raise their prices by at least 1000% to turn a profit. Canada Goose jackets have to be pricey if they weren’t Canada Goose jackets WOULDN”T BE MADE IN CANADA. If you’re starting a restaurant business in Canada, it’s smarter that you do what many East Asian businesses do, which is make it a family run business, why? Because minimum wage will eat away at your profits and eventually your company will have to take risks Tim Hortons is taking or go BANKRUPT.
I used to love Wendy’s NOT ANYMORE, it’s too expensive, I used to go to Wendy’s maybe once a week, I go to Wendy’s twice a year if not less now, why? $12 Wendy’s combos? are you serious? I can buy my own grill and make my own burgers as a matter a fact I can buy all the ingredients for 10 burgers for 2 trips to Wendy’s, so unless I have too or unless I’m going out to eat, I don’t go too fast-food restaurants anymore.
Tim Hortons is a part of Canadian culture, but according to Justin Trudeau Canada has no culture, being that a large segment of Liberal Canadians seems to agree with Trudeau via mass migration, why shouldn’t Tim Hortons embrace Canada having no culture also? Tim Hortons is desperate, they don’t want to lose market share, I personally don’t buy anything at Tim Hortons, I never did, it’s always been a last resort for me, even at its heights. So I don’t have that personal connection with Tim Hortons that other Canadians have, however, I am in business and I do pay close attention to the cost of living, welfare and wages in Canada.
Being that Canada has a giant welfare state and a Protectionist based almost-Free-market, I have to be honest, I’m surprised the Canadian consumer has stayed afloat this long. But Tim Hortons is doing what it can to appeal to as many Canadian consumers as possible, sales and income taxes will shrink massively in Canada if Tim Hortons loses market share, so Canadians who are pro-higher-wages should shut up and accept the changes, because Tim Hortons is doing what’s necessary to protect Canadian jobs!
