Toronto, Ontario imposes new laws for Ride-Sharing Drivers of Uber and Lyft – The Power of the Taxi Lobby in Toronto? – January 2, 2019,
So, it’s no secret that in Vancouver, Canada’s Democratic Socialist party we know as the NDP tends to cater to domestic special interest groups know as Lobby Groups or Workers Unions. As innocent as this sounds on the surface and although this benefits a select few, it has an effect of stifling innovation and future investment. Lucky for Canada at the moment the global economy is humming along, I dread the day there’s economic turmoil as it might be hard to stimulate economic growth is all of these job-killing regulations already in place.
Inflation is the economic name of the game in the world so instead of driving prices down which actually helps to solve poverty, governments continue to force prices up. Now, this move by the government of Toronto, in my opinion, revolves around the Taxi Lobby taking a step by step approach to regulating ride-sharing into obscurity. In Vancouver, the taxi lobby already put an end to Uber, you can read the article below.

In Ontario, however, citizens haven’t been as indoctrinated with democratic socialism as they have been in Vancouver. So in Ontario, it’s basically a step by step approach in my opinion. So now that these new “vehicle-for-hire” regulations are in effect periodically I assume they tac on a new regulation until the Uber and the Taxi industry are basically one and the same. This will end badly for consumers, it’s important to remember that the Uber and Lyft exist because globally Taxi Lobby groups artificially forced prices up, via regulations.
This tactful approach by the Taxi Lobby has the benefit of getting their foot in the door and all it will take is for them to continue to pay off politicians and eventually Uber and Lyft will be pushed to have their prices comparable to Taxis. No, this is purely my opinion, sure a lot of my predictions come true, but I have to point out that this is only my opinion.
I feel bad for the people who use Uber to make a living, their costs are going to go up. I’m not sure if this “city-approved training program” will have a cost, I’m also not sure what entity will be behind the creation of the testing, I’m sure books and other things ill have to be purchased, it’s unlikely a government-approved teacher is going to work for free, also now Drivers must have a minimum of three years driving experience, furthermore all vehicles must now include “watch for bike” notices, so yeah, one can imagine this will also lead to another form of commerce for particular entities as this will obviously be expanded upon.
Drivers must display a notice if they are using a camera to record passengers and Drivers must securely mount any handheld devices inside the vehicle. Furthermore, Companies must also send notifications to passengers reminding them to watch for cyclists before exiting? Yeah, so basically the Toronto Nanny State is going to control your ride-sharing experience. Additional costs, anyway I hope people see why a big government is a bad thing, whether it’s Liberals, NPD or Conservatives, I’ll never vote for either ever again! People’s Party of Canada or the Libertarian Party of Canada, I don’t care how small the percentage of votes we get, that’s how I vote from now on.
