Trump administration removes India special trade status, why the worlds world’s largest democracy hasn’t worked out as planned – June 2, 2019,
Most people associate Democracy with prosperity because the assumption is when people vote, the people will always vote for the right things, but the reality is a countries prosperity is derived either from its Monarchy or its Republic, a society that revolves around individualism and protecting persons personal property tends to be the most prosperous nations in the modern era. With that said India the worlds largest Democracy revolves around mob rule. When most people think of India they think of the Caste System.
One would assume that democracy would topple a Caste System, unfortunately, people are reluctant to vote against their entitled positions in life under a democracy. So although portions of the Caste System no longer exists, there’s still a long way to go and I bring this up because it’s part of the reason why India is reluctant to remove many of its economic barriers.
In case people forgot, the number one reason most countries fight against Capitalism is the influence on society it has, when people are free to choose and their imported purchases aren’t subject to crazy high tariffs, existing orthodoxies fall by the wayside, as the people vote with their dollars. Why are things unaffordable worldwide? If you don’t know the answer to the question I’ll tell you, it’s the government. The cure for global poverty has already been discovered, unfortunately, in its way are politicians. It’s not to say that government enforced regulations don’t offer any value ever, it’s just that people forget that most government enforced regulations revolve around appeasing special interest groups.
Prices for goods and services come down, when the government gets out of the way, but you see if prices come down or if society changes, politics are forced to change and for most politicians a change in the way things are done could equate to establishments, established ways of thinking being challenged in a way that the existing orthodoxies will fail. All that aside Donald Trump has talked about fair trade, it’s been his platform, we give you easy access to the U.S market gives the United States equal access to your markets? Simple enough right? Not, when you subscribe to Leftist dogma, which states that the U.S is rich and should allow itself to be exploited by nations that aren’t as rich as it is.
Most of the Americans out of work are out of work because their employers can’t compete in America and they can’t compete in other nations, when a country sets up a blockade on the U.S made goods and at the same time has easy access to the U.S market, why should America who is also in debt subject itself to this mistreatment? It’s common sense but if you subscribe to Leftist politics, Trumps a bully!
