xBids Scam

Posted on October 13, 2010December 11, 2010 by RichInWriters

xBids.com Scam

XBids.com is one of many Penny Auction websites online. This things are popping up all over the place. One thing i recommend doing before handing over credit card information to anyone is make sure you read the terms and conditions. This is also know as the fine print. I know its time consuming but it educates you in what you are getting yourself into.  with xbids this information can be found by going to http://www.xbids.com/support/terms-of-service.html

XBids.com Non Refundable Credits

There is one area i want to focus on in this post and that is non refundable credits please read the section below at the time i am writing this is October 13 2010 it may have changed depending on when you read this post

=======

BIDS

Bidding rights or bids (“Bids”) must be purchased before you engage in online bidding. Prices for Bids may change at xBids’s discretion at any time. Bids are non-transferable and valid for 6 months after they have been credited to your account, unless stated to be valid for less than that period of time. Upon expiration, Bids become void and can no longer be used. Once a Bid is placed in an auction, it is deducted from your Bid account and cannot be refunded.

================================================

Non refundable credits. I’ve written about this before. Penny auction websites in the eyes of many is considered to be borderline gambling.  Using a penny auction website is like shopping at a non refundable store. The difference however is that you have a chance to win your desired item at rock bottom prices.

Penny Auctions are very Time Consuming

There’s also another catch Penny Auctions are very time consuming. There are people that literally spend hours and even days on these websites. Most of the ties these people spend way more money on the price of their desired item.

Of course most people won’t admit this, another common trait is people will start purchasing things they didn’t initially want like more credits to so they can aggressively go after the product they did want. this goes into the time consuming aspect of things and even then they still might not win remember in any auction there can only be one winner.

Auction websites appear to be here to stay I just wonder how long it will take for people to truly understand how these things work. All i will say is the bigger the Penny Auction site gets the harder it is for people to win. Also the bigger the penny auction site gets the richer the penny auction website owners get. the consumer gets screwed on so many levels.

Wait Wait there’s some Good News…

But hey here’s the good news because you may have wasted hours on our Penny Auction website we will allow you to use your NON Refundable credits to purchase the item you wanted at the retail price set by us. If you want to sign up for XBids don’t let e stop you just don’t say I didn’t warn you

Check out this link… They are NOT in the USA and we will NEVER see them again. ALL VENDORS they were using have cut them off, so NO ONE will ever get anything nor will ever hear from them again…

Please file the report along with disputing your charges TODAY… don’t delay in hope you will get something, because you will NEVER see anything again. They have ruined their business and contacts, so they have no choice but to disappear…..

I checked out x-bids and they have no way of contacting them…. always be caution if you can’t make contact with anyone.. so I would have to agree they may not be on the up and up…

As for Penny Auctions being scams, I have to disagree… check out DEALDASH.COM they are located in California and have great ratings… I have been on their site and won IPAD, Wii and many other stuff and got them fast…. I agree most I would not trust though…..

    todd,
I do not think 60 days is an absolute time limit to dispute your chrges.
You should dispute your charges in writing with your credit card company and also talk to the manager.Especially if xbids was giving you excuses just to get 60 days expired. Do you have any emails from xbids which give you some excuse or run around and made you delay the dispute.
Then the 60 days should be counted after your last contact with them.

Hi Nancy, No I have not heard from my bank yet. Hey did you see the new x-bids site and do you think they are the same people who stole our money. How are these people able to steal everyone’s money then close up shop and then open up again with basically the same name, what the hell is going on here. Where is the internet POLICE and what can we do to shut them down.

I joined xbids.com without realizing that I would be charged $75 before I made a purchase. I immediately asked xbids.com to cancel my membership (before I even used it) and give me a refund of my $75. The said they would. They closed my account and said they would issue a refund. Three (3) months and (8) emails later, I still have not received my refund and they have refused to call me to discuss the mattter. I don’t know if they are intentionally not refunding my $75, or if they just have customer service people that don’t follow up to make sure the refund has been made. I am still waiting and sending emails, however I would not recommend xbids.com to anyone.

Hi Tom we are all in the same boat. We have been ripped off by xbids I just went to my bank on 2-22-2011 and disputed all charges for the last 60 days I am hoping that I am not too late to get some of my money back if you read all 5 pages of this site you will see all the people that xbids scamed. Read Nancy’s post as she has alot of good information on filing a complaint with the right people. You will find good info on what people have had to put up with xbids and now I understand that they have opened up the site again with basically the same name (x-bids) they have now added a slash and started a new site to rip people off. Where is the internet police and how can these crooks get away with this and not be shut down by the FBI or someome.

    Hi,
I joined xbids.com in December after listening to local news station in Pittsburgh bragging it up. I bid a few times, paid my $75 to get started with $75 worth of bids to spend and today, I went bck to buy a wal mart $100 card and be done with this site. WHERE DID IT GO ? XBIDS.com is no longer there? Checking with credit card my only option?I had $88.90 there last I was there.
    thanks

    Hi Scott,

Wow… I am so sorry… we all have been hit by the “XBIDS” factor. They are out of business. They were based out of Kuwait… Please look at all my blogs on this site.. it will give you some insite and places where to file. I would contact your credit card company and dispute all charges. Let them know the business is out of business. The bids normally are not nonrefundable, but since they were sold under fraud you can get a full refund.

Good luck and please stay in touch [email protected]

    UPDATE
I ran a site check on where the signal is coming from…. before today, it came out of Kuwait and this xbids is coming out of Scottsdale, Arizona. Not sure what’s up, but it seems very strange. I think they might actually think they can possible open up for business again. I really hope no one will fall into the trap….. I guess we will see…. I will be relaying this to District Attorney’s Office. BEWARE!

I just checked to see it xbids site came back… its back… It stating the following:

    Site Maintenance

xBids is currently undergoing planned system maintenance. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Note: All users that have won auctions, your products are still being shipped during regular business hours.

We are currently performing system maintenance to better your user experience. We will be back shortly.

I too have been scammed. I made purchases and never received any merchandise. I did this Dec 22-and more on Dec 31 through xBids.com. I sent emails with replies, that shipment would be sent soon. Three months later, no merchandise. I did receive a response today March 25, 2011 that they were working on this. I bet!
Anymore news of the company to be back in business in Scottsdale, Arizona. The site still shows site maintenance but not really up and working. Is there a class action in place? If so, how do I get envolved?

I am replying to your email. I am a female in her 70’s who must have received info about Xbids on my computer as I did not go looking for “trouble”. I had no idea that bids had to be purchased and you did not just bid a dollar amount. This is too confusing and not for a senior to be playing with.

I want what ever amount, looks like $75 be credited to my account and close the account.

Everything published was very logical. However, think on this, what if you wrote a catchier post title?
I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how to run your blog, but what if you added something to possibly grab folk’s attention?
I mean xBids Scam is a little plain. You ought to look
at Yahoo’s home page and note how they write article titles to grab people to open the links. You might add a video or a picture or two to grab people interested about everything’ve written.
Just my opinion, it might bring your website a little bit more interesting.
