Carbon taxes Not COVID-19: Grocery prices start to rise as cost increases take hold – April 6, 2020,
I find that Canadian media, for the most part, is stuck on stupid. Even if Trudeau didn’t directly hit British Columbia with the same Carbon tax he hit with the Conservative provinces, it doesn’t mean they’re not going to be affected.
Vancouver doesn’t make everything it has in its grocery stores, if a truck has to fill up in a carbon taxed region to drive to B.C they have to pass those costs onto somebody, otherwise they’ll o out of business, all of Canada is on thin margins, that’s what happens when companies debt finance. When the government artificially raises the cost of living and creates price controls, there are real-world consequences, Canada has been lucky to be bordered with the United States because most of the socialists’ laws we have here would never work if Canada was as an example bordered with Brazil or even an Oceanic region.
If you don’t like Capitalism that’s fine, but understand, that the flaw in Capitalism is price DEFLATION not Price INFLATION. Prices inflate when the government intervenes in the money supply when the government wants to have socialism in society, the money supply has to be diluted, the government has to print money or devalue the money in order for the public sector to grow.
People aren’t supposed to get a guaranteed wage working for the government, taxes come from the private sector, the government is there to govern, the government is not there to redistribute money and resources to people, the moment the government starts to reallocate resources and pick economic winners and losers is the moment the private sector is compromised because how capitalism works is instead of prices becoming more expensive, people, companies, will DOWNSIZE, they’ll get smaller because higher prices typically lead to fewer customers, fewer customers, equate to a business having to hoard inventory for a longer period of time which is bad especially in a Grocery store business.
If customers have no choice and have to pay additional costs, well, then those same customers now have fewer dollars to buy other things and that leads to a recession. DEFLATION is a part of capitalism, inflation is a part of the government, in a free market capitalistic environment, sure a grocery store can raise its prices, but when they do this they’re opening the flood gates of more competition.
The problem with higher taxes and more regulations is that the barrier to entry is raised and therefore it’s much harder for a competitor to emerge. The untold story of Target in Canada is that Target completely underestimated the cost of doing business in Canada.
The reason why most companies have a hard time staying open in Canada is our ridiculous cost of living, there is little to no wiggle room doing business in Canada and because of this companies are reluctant to open shops here.
I get that Leftists want to keep people in the dark, but this nonsense has got to stop! Just because your province is doing what our authoritarian Prime Minister tells them to do, doesn’t exclude them from paying the carbon tax, actually, they were better off prior to the carbon tax because along with their provincial taxes, they weren’t being hit with the additional taxes that other provinces had to pay.
Furthermore, the Canadian dollar is declining, it’s unbelievable how bad things are getting in Canadian media. Imagine if only regulatory authorities to decide what news is allowed to get published? It’s crazy what’s happening in Canada right now!
