Cargill meatpacking plant closure based on the 2000+ foreign workers they employee – April 23, 2020,
So, Cargill appears to be the epicenter of the Alberta COVID-19 outbreak and TheRebel.meia does a good job presenting the reasons as to why Canada should end it’s foreign workers program. I’m huge on ending the minimum wage, but that’s not why these foreign workers were hired, the reason these foreign workers were hired was more than likely because of the well known destructive union culture in Canada.
If you want to know the most effective way to drive up costs to run a business, look no further than a labor union. Minimum wages are derived from unions, it’s something most people forget, just because governments adopt minimum wages in Provinces doesn’t mean that minimum wages came from Government, minimum wages re ENFORCED by government, but most businesses an adopt to minimum wages, the problem with the minimum wages is that it’s derived from unions, who use the power of government to drive the cost of doing business up in Canada, this ultimately leads to fewer companies willing to take the risk of creating jobs in certain sectors which then leads to the expansion of the WELFARE STATE!
I comprehend the frustration, but this has always been my problem with Conservatives in Canada is that they seem to have a hard time comprehending that one bad socialist law breeds another and eventually to keep the province in business, Premiers and Prime ministers have to make concessions because in the end productivity is the most important thing to the stability of a country and the problem with Canadian in compression to the United States is that per capita we don’t have as many entrepreneurs, which ultimately leads to a distorted economic view of how people think things should be.
I don’t know the specifics of the Cargill meatpacking plant foreign workers program, but I suspect contracts were signed, which guaranteed the longevity of the company.
For the record, Cargill meatpacking plant make up for 70% of Canada’s beef processing capabilities. Because you see when private companies aren’t being harassed by unions, similar to the Toyota assembly plant in Ontario, companies are extremely productive. Canadians are shooting themselves in the foot for welfare and the unions.
The foreign worker programs wouldn’t exist if Canadians didn’t want their governments to do so much. But issues like this would require a culture Libertarian shift, that I don’t see happening in Canada any time soon. I like TheRebel.media but as I’ve stated in other posts they’re center Right at best, I actually find Fox News more Right-wing than TheRebel.media. It’s just that Canada and the U.K have gone so far Left that even moving to the center is painful!
My thoughts regarding Cargill, sh*t happens when a lot of people want economic government protection and welfare, consider ending the welfare state!
Interesting times ahead!
