Is contractsecretshoppers.com a Scam?

If you got a call from 647-879-3622 from someone offering you a Secret Shopper position beware this is a big time fraud. The common theme I’m seeing with people being contacted by these scammers is “indeed.com” Job searchers are often targeted by these fraudsters so if you posted your resume there this could be how they were able to contact you!

This scam has been going on for some years now. How it works is they get your personal information namely your name and mailing address, they then send you a letter with a cheque inside which they tell you to cash and use to make purchases.

If the bank somehow allows you to cash or deposit this check which is usually over $2500 and you withdraw from it you’ll be liable to your bank and whatever money you send in this instance to “contractsecretshoppers.com” or what ever secret shopper scam you’ll lose.

The thing to understand is they gain your trust primarily by sending you the cheque. At this point most people will not only give up more of their personal information but also they’ll “return” any money to these scammers that they request. The thing to understand about this scam is when or if you’re able to withdraw any money from your bank you will be liable to pay back your bank the money. By this time these scammers would have asked you to give them their money from the bad check they sent you.!

Their phone number is linked to another scam website called Poweraidsloans.com

However it should be noted that this address is probably fake because the building they’re using would require a unit address.
