Currency Manipulation and Inflated Housing Prices: Canada’s truck driver shortage has reached new heights, with job vacancies more than doubling since 2016 – March 11, 2020,
So, here’s the thing, by almost every metric Canada, has a higher standard of living than do Americans, yet there’s this weird thing happening to the Canadian dollar, it’s intentionally being devalued. Canada should be the richest nation on the planet, simply because of where we’re located geographically. Understand, that Canadian political party establishments both the Liberals and the Conservatives have made a conscious effort to appease the Eastern Canadian namely the Socialist province of Quebec, to keep the Canadian dollar lower.
Manipulating or devaluing the Canadian dollar has created a standard of living Canadians otherwise wouldn’t afford. But here’s the kicker, it’s not that Canadians wouldn’t lose their standard of living if the Loonie was higher it’s just that the size of the Canadian Government Federal, Provincial and Municipal would probably be a lot smaller if the Canadian dollar were to appreciate.
Duties and taxes are imposed to generate revenue and protect local industry
Canada’s tariff system, if a person were to ask me is one of the most immoral and stupid tariff systems in the Western world. Our tariff system would make a whole lot of sense if the Canadian dollar was where it’s supposed to be which is I’d argue should cost Canadians about 0.85 cents to purchase $1 US dollar, but the opposite is true, while at the same time our tariff system punishes Americans for trying to sell Canadian consumers things.
This additional tax on Canadian consumers enriches governments and the entities the businesses they protect and impoverishes Canadians. If you’ve ever wondered why poverty exists in Canada to the level it does, take a look at the Canadian dollar and duties and taxes which are imposed to generate revenue and protect local industries. Once you understand duties and taxes Economics becomes a really simple subject.
What are the effects of higher valued currency? Efficiency, being overly efficient generates a different type of wealth effect, in which the tariff system is fair, however, the problem governments have with higher valued currency is that it becomes harder for politicians to lie to their citizens.
In Switzerland a politician can be jailed for running a deficit, recently the U.K created a movement called Brexit, in most Scandinavian countries who American Senator Bernie Sanders says he admires, they’re shrinking the size of their government and in America, it’s damned near impossible for Leftists to push their agendas without a major push back. Why does this happen? Because when consumers have more purchasing power, they’ll see for themselves the limitations of Big Government.
Canadians have been socially engineered to see Big Government as the Answer
Because a lot of fo Canadians can’t imagine a world without Big Government, it’s hard for many Canadians to comprehend what could be in store in Canada’s future if Canadians aren’t careful. This truck driver shortage is the end result of Canadians devaluing their currency and raising the cost of living. This problem also exists in America and other countries by the way, but in Canada, even Truck drivers can’t buy homes.
Imagine living life as a truck driver and you don’t qualify at the bank for a 2000 square foot house? Imagine being a truck driver in Canada and barely making ends meet to feed your family? Imagine being a truck driver in Canada, with all the regulations and you make less money than a person who works for the government? A reminder that being a Truck driver equates to a life on the road.
Now, wages in Canada would be fine if the cost of living wasn’t as high as it is, but imagine for a second that making $40 an hour in Canada with a family could still equate to financial hardships and then you’ll start to see why duties and taxes and an artificially devalued Canadian is leading to a shortage in most skilled trades in Canada.
Canada is creating a problem for itself that exists in third-world nations and it’s happening here at a rapid pace because we’re hollowing out our manufacturing base with bad policies and higher taxes. There comes a time in all socialist countries in which it makes a lot more sense to be on welfare or work for the government than it does to actually work for or in the private sector.
The moment this becomes obvious in a socialist country, that society better get ready for potential negative changes in the economy! If there is a lack of truck drivers, it’s usually a signal that they’ll be getting a pay raise very soon. Truck drivers deliver the things we need, luckily right now the price of oil is on the retreat, but how long will that last? I’m not sure!
