Why Internet Marketers might not want to use bit.ly
If you’re running an internet marketing campaign and want to cloak your url i recommend staying away from bit.ly. Although bit.ly does sound like the best option it’s not a good option to cloak your affiliate url. All it takes is a few spam complaints and the affiliate network you are connected to gets blacklisted or when people click on your link they are presented with a bit.ly message warning them of the dangers of your link. If this happens kiss your campaign goodbye.
If you want to cloak or shrink your url for free and also want to track your stats without any worry of having your account blacklisted go to a website like weeclix.com. Do not however use this website for illegal activity because your account will be shut down for Phishing

Really? didn’t know bit.ly can harm your links. how about ow.ly or tinyurl?

tinyurl i don’t think so. i’ve personally never used ow.ly. The only thing is tinyurl does not track your clicks
