It’s called “Defund The CBC,” not dissolve the CBC. Defunding the CBC is not hard to do and can easily be TARGETED – April 14, 2023,
I was reading an article that was basically an attack on Pierre Poilievre, and I was trying to make sense of it. The article was trying to make DEFUNDING the CBC a difficult feat, which comes across as odd to me, because whoever started this trend used the term “defund” intentionally because, as most Canadians know French is not exactly a desired language in North America making it hard for French speakers to market themselves, their ideas and ideals on the North American continent.
The Department of Canadian Heritage basically exists to protect Quebec Francophone culture. English speakers, for the most part, don’t need most of the regulations offered by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). There is an evergrowing competitive market for English and Spanish speakers in North America that doesn’t require government involvement.
French, on the flip side, is not only one of the more complex languages; there’s currently not a thriving market to learn it. So when “Defund” the CBC gained traction, the idea was to phase out most of its services in speaking Canada because it really is a giant waste of taxpayer funds. The CRTC currently forces most mainstream media entities to have a Left Wing agenda.
One of the reasons Canadian private media is so bland is because of CRTC; all media organizations walk the fine line, which is why almost all Private media in Canada feels like you’re watching State Run media. Australia has Sky News Australia, which leans to the right politically because in Australia there exists no Quebec equivalent and therefore it certain regulations that exist in Canada’s commonwealth don’t have to exist in Australia.

When we’re talking about defunding, it’s basically withdrawing funds or asking the CBC to justify why it requires money for particular services. I do understand why Pierre Poilievre will have to sell Canadians on why certain CBC services are a waste of money, when or if he’s Prime minister, but trying to complicate the matter is pointless.
I don’t know if by changing the law they’re referring to austerity, but it’s called DEFUND the CBC for a reason and if this is the Left Media has to go against Pierre Poilievre, he might win a majority!
