Did the Liberal Party of Canada Squander Canada’s rainy day fund? March 5, 2020
Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper in my opinion handed leadership over to the Liberals, the moment he began pandering to eastern Canada. If Eastern Canada was going to vote in Justin Trudeau, what Stephen Harper should have done early on in his re-election bid, is remind Canadians the stark differences between his vision for the country and that of Justin Trudeau.
When Stephen Harper became Prime Minister he promised to cut the GST, Canadians took the bait, everybody likes a good sale, every Canadian like to pay less, even with the much lower loonie, certain consumer goods are a lot cheaper in Canada than they are in the U.S, why because, for the most part, Canadians are more frugal than Americans are.
If you’re a Conservative you indulge your voters by offering more while they pay less! Die-hard Liberals will be die-hard liberals, but when people are in debt and you present yourself as the debt killer, even if your opposition beats you, people will still remember that you’re the politician who will continue to fight to lower prices.
Instead, Stephen Harper pandered to the middle class by offering them free crap for their house, the instant voters saw this, Justin Trudeau all of sudden started to look like the far better option, Justin Trudeau promised voters all sorts of free unearned crap and he promised to be a Stuart of the environment and minority rights, all of sudden individualists became collectivists, assuming that at the very least under Justin Trudeau they could get their slice of the pie.
Justin Trudeau made good on his promises, leaving the cupboard bare, not only did Trudeau leave the cupboard bare, Trudeau entertained the idea of giving away the cupboard, why have a bare cupboard, the cupboard has been bare for years and things are appear to fine in the Canadian, I’m a genius I’m sure Trudeau has convinced himself, I spent money on what the people wanted and they elected me twice, and nothing bad has really happened, a few protests here and there, my opposition doesn’t like blah, blah, blah. I may even surpass my father as Canada’s best Prime minister ever.
Well, not so fast, it’s the straw that breaks the camels back and Canada has built a house of cards under Justin Trudeau. Investments are drying up in Canada, however the Canadian dollar, although on a decline is a slow decline, the Canadian dollar still is a world reserve currency meaning that people will be slow to sell it off, what will make people sell of the Canadian dollar is a slowing Canadian economy, that’s overly regulated.
Trudeau has triggered the worst type of recession, via his regulatory environment. During economic downturns, governments stimulate growth typically by cutting regulations, the stubborn countries which refuse to cut regulations often are left with stagnant zombie-like economies. Trudeau’s entire platform revolves are increasing regulations and during economic downturns, while deficit spending, it’s these types of economies that spiral downward and can’t recover.
If Canada falls into recession Trudeau will have to abandon his economic positions, as I’ve stated in posts dating back to 2016, Trudeau, in my opinion, will pay for the sins of his father, whether Trudeau is forced to step down or whether the Canadian economy collapses, make no mistake about it, Canadians, eastern Canadians included are to remember what it felt like when Trudeau was Prime Minister.
I personally think it’s to the Conservatives benefit to let Justin Trudeau and the Canadian Leftist establishment which includes the Greens and The NDP dig their own graves. I think John Ivison nails it with this article
Interesting times ahead!
