Is the NDP is in trouble? Green Party of Canada choose Toronto’s Annamie Paul as their new leader – October 4, 2020,
So, I don’t know much about Annamie Paul but if she’s at the very least consistent with her messaging as well as a person who can unite all people in Canada, she could very well be the NDP’s worst nightmare. I actually thought the Green Party in the last election could have made a bigger push, I thought Elizabeth May shot herself in the foot, during the last election, but that’s ancient history now.
What I see when I see Annamie Paul is the Green Party, her hair is short and natural, she has the earth look to her, she’s black and Jewish, unfortunately for her in my opinion she spent too much time in institutions which in my opinion might make oblivious to market-based economics.
The good news for her is that Jagmeet Singh is also rather oblivious to market economics and therefore head to head with Jagmeet Singh, he might look more patriarchal. Now, why am I going here with this? Because the Green Party in my opinion would have been better led by a person who understands market economics.
However strategically, she might be good enough to take down the bankrupted NDP, who are losing seats everywhere except for B.C at the moment. I personally don’t see the NDP for the NDP anymore? The Green Party is clearly more influential in Canadian politics than the NDP could ever be and being that Jagmeet Singh is basically Justin Trudeau’s lackey I don’t see in the modern era where the NDP fits into modern politics?
The Green Party, speaks for itself, nobody expects the Green Party to win an election, but the Green Party could prove to be an irritant for established Left-wing parties. Jagmeet Singh now owns the Justin Trudeau created disaster and if the Canadian economy crashes the way many of us expect it will, Left-wingers aren’t going to wake up one morning and become right-wingers, they’re going to very strategically and quite frankly it wouldn’t surprise me if the Green Party and the Liberals run and neck and neck in upcoming elections.
Now obviously, in my opinion, the Conservatives are going to win in a future election in a landslide, but the last time the conservatives won in a landslide, we saw the rise of the NDP, I suspect if the Greens play their cards right, we could see the rise of the Green Party.
Jagmeet Singh is divisive, Annamie Paul would be wise to find a way to be less divisive, I don’t know how that would work, because I’m not a Left Winger, but Jagmeet Singh whenever he’s upset calls his opposition names ad tries to silence them. Jagmeet Singh if people remember wanted to have Maxime Bernier silenced because in Jagmeets’ mind Maxime Bernier was spreading hate.
Now, I don’t think it would be wise for Annamie Paul to take the same approach as Singh did, I’d personally argue that the greens have been winning elections for years, because we now have a carbon tax, without the Green Party, chances are there would be no Carbon Tax, the Greens accomplished this not by name-calling but by subtly pushing forward their agendas
Congrats to Annamie Paul all I can say is she can either help or hurt her own cause, how she approaches politics will determine her Party’s success, in the future! I personally think the Greens number one goal should be to take all the young votes away from the NDP! I don’t see any benefit for a young person to vote for the NDP.
As an example, if I was a young person living in B.C I’d hate the fact that the taxi lobby is stopping me from having a profitable Uber business! The NDP is an anti-young person party, the NDP is an establishment Party that wants the young to finance the retirements of the old!
In my opinion, the Green Party if they took a market approach to the environment, could easily replace the bankrupt NDP Party! I’ll be paying closer attention to Annamie Paul to see her approach to poliics.
