Phone companies must block calls with ‘blatantly illegitimate’ info, says CRTC – Hmm, I don’t like this

I thought we had call blocking? I love my call blocking feature, I even bought a phone that blocks calls. I find this article below very bizarre and in my opinion, this is not a necessary precaution and The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in this instance is overstepping their boundaries.

Phone companies must block calls with ‘blatantly illegitimate’ info, says CRTC

This is one of those things that will cause more harm than good. “a multi-pronged approach to fight nuisance calls,”? Are we being serious here, what classifies a nuisance call? Why is call block not enough? Why is preventing unknown callers from calling your phone not enough? Why do Canadians think that allowing the government via phone companies to make these decisions for you a good idea? How about offering this service to people who want to pay for it? Oh Canada, I’m not sure what to make of you anymore.

Interesting times ahead.
