Poor internet infrastructure: Telco customers see their internet bills triple during COIVD-19 pandemic because the opted to move to rural areas – April 9, 2020,
When I write about a stronger Canadian dollar, there’s a reason behind it and that reason revolves around more investment into Canada. A lot of foreigners park money in Canada, unfortunately, because of bad economic policies a lot of that money sits in useless parts of the Canadian economy like propping up real estate prices, a lot of capital in the Canadian economy sits ideal because tat money will get punished via taxes and regulations for being productive.
The driving force for a lot of Canada’s woes revolves around protectionism, whether it’s protectionism of telco companies or Canadian cultural protectionism everyone in Canada pays for this. Now, because most Canadians don’t care to know why big telcos aren’t incentivized to provide rural areas with high-speed internet even though the government is protecting them from U.S invasion, that’s because governments don’t build anything!
It’s not like the Government created Rogers or Bell, sure the government assisted in making these companies profitable, but the actual labor needed not only to build infrastructure but also maintain it has to be financed by market fires that don’t exist in Canada. You see if there were more competitors in Canadian telco, there would be more incentive to provide internet access in rural areas, because it would simply be an issue of each company only be allowed to secure permits if it did this, this or this.
But once you have only a handful of companies with an unfettered monopoly because the barrier to entry is so high, well no company wants to take the risk of being the bad guy! This problem also exists in America by the way, however in America because they have a freer market a satellite Internet connection is something that’s well known to people in rural areas.
In Canada, the idea is that the government should fix this problem, it’s almost like the government forced these people to move into rural areas? The cost of living is usually higher in a city because there’s INFRASTRUCTURE there.
I comprehend that for some Canadians because they see roads in the rural area they live that setting up internet infrastructure should be easy, right? Wrong, humans have to work to maintain your internet, sure Trudeau currently is throwing money around like it’s free candy which gives the illusion to simple-minded Canadians that the all-powerful federal government can pay to fix every problem in Canada, but in the real world, money is based on productivity and if you choose to live in a rural part of the country, you’re going to have to learn to be more self-sufficient, that’s how it works!
If people could enjoy the same standard of living in rural parts of the country as they do in major cities, I’m pretty sure even seekers of welfare would find their way to rural areas. It’s unbelievable how dumb Canadians are getting every after year!
Regulations and monopolies lead to fewer options, fewer options equate to take it or leave it options from the private sector and the government. If you’re going to live in a rural area, these are usually questions you ask beforehand. I live in the middle of nowhere how likely is it that I will enjoy the same standard of living out here as I would living in a major city? This stuff is common sense! The article below is not the fault of Bell or Rogers it’s the fault of the people who moved to or live in these areas!
Anyway maybe their lord and savior Justin Trudeau will help them out!
