PragerU loses lawsuit against Youtube; First Amendment doesn’t apply on YouTube it’s Privately Owned! – February 27, 2020
I like PragerU, I’ve even donated to PragerU, but I always find it odd when Conservatives feel entitled to things. Youtube via Google has shareholders, to adhere too. Money over b*tches, I get it that PragerU is an American non-profit organization and what makes it grow is its marketing budget, but I’m always confused when I see Conservatives threaten litigation on the use of another entity private property.
I like social media too but can Facebook, Twitter and Youtube get a little credit, for whatever reason they’ve made entire organizations believe that they’re the only game in town. On Youtube right now there are tons of businesses, charities, and Individuals that use Social media to get the word out about their own brands.
Just being honest when I visit a Youtube page bombarded with advertising, I stop watching, Youtube has been trying to find multiple avenues to extract more money from its viewers without alienating investors and moderates. That same money invested in suing Youtube could have been used to grow the PragerU platform. Even if they won, nobody would care, we sued Youtube and won! So what? What type of precedence would that send to American startups? Sometimes I find that Conservatives are short-sighted!
Youtube very well might be a blip in history, I still remember Myspace, during the Myspace era, the assumption was it would be dominant forever and one day it wasn’t, I couldn’t stand myspace because of the advertising and the spam. All companies have to play a balancing act to some degree if you want purity, then start your own, but understand that even purity or a pure form of anything in a free world equates to you and your brand is a niche!
We all imagine ourselves and our organization to be of vital importance to humanity, but the markets decide that ultimately. I listen to a lot of Conservative voices on Youtube, the smart ones avoid certain subjects on social media platforms. Actually, when you do this, it could help to bring curiosity to your brand, which again is why I’m not big fan of charities because a charity is in many ways an admission that you lack sales skills!
I know first hand what Charities do to Africa, people still think Africans aren’t good capitalists, no you morons, every time local African manufacturers make something, some charity ships bunch of free t-shirts, free shoes or some other free crap, which in actuality put local African business out of business.
Why buy when the white man offers it for free the African consumer asks themselves! Furthermore apparently Africans and people from certain Latin countries aren’t being oppressed by democratically elected socialist rulers! Apparently, democracy or Mob Rule politics doesn’t lead to poverty, apparently changing the laws to benefit the ruling class, won’t lead to economic stagnation and apparently, Western Nations via charities and Government financing African dictators won’t have any effects on the African people.
Hey, gang wanna here a way cool story, Capitalism gave the people of Kuwait an obesity problem and wait for it… In Socialist Venezuela where there’s way more oil and way better land for agriculture many people are currently starving? Gee, I wonder why? Anyway that’s my charitable rant for the day
I wish PragerU all the best I personally think the judge made the right decision! Sell some t-shirts, some bibles, host more paid events, turn PragerU into a business or simply be more creative! If Youtube keeps bombarded people with ads, and an alternative appears that shows fewer ads, Youtube could be the next Myspace! just being honest I didn’t see the point of the lawsuit!
