Regressive taxation Won’t help Toronto’s climate action plan innovation from the Private Sector Will – August 9, 2019,
As a Political Right-winger, one of the topics I think are overrated is the topic of race. Although they might have similar physical characteristics The Irish and The Germans collectively don’t have the same history. The Germans are known for high-quality manufacturing, technological advancements, and innovations whereas when most people think of the Irish they think of a hardworking people known to produce some of the best Beer in the world. Japan and The Philippines, may share similar physical appearances but collectively their history differs. The Philippines are known for Jeepneys(originally U.S. military jeeps left over from World War II) whereas the Japanese are known for their high quality longer lasting Automobile manufacturers like Toyota and Honda. If one were to ask me my theory for why most groups differ in their human development, I’d point to culture.
The Germans and the Japanese focus not only on innovation but on self-sufficiency. Making and manufacturing things is very important to the Japanese and the Germans. In other parts of the world however, most people via their political leaders and their political processes, teach their citizens that higher taxation will lead to innovations. Now, being honest this is partially true because as an example NASA wouldn’t be possible without U.S Government dollars, Nuclear weapons wouldn’t be possible without the government, even the internet initially began with the government, however, what’s ignored is how things like the internet were brought to the market via the Private sector.
Henry Ford wasn’t the first person to make an automobile, but he was the first person to speed up the manufacturing process. Henry Ford revolutionized auto-manufacturing and created an entirely new job classifications for Engineers. Tesla Motors is still government-subsidized and that’s part of the reason why Tesla is having such a hard time turning a profit. If Tesla wasn’t turning a profit and did not receive government subsidies that other auto manufacturers don’t qualify for, chances are Tesla would have grown to be something different. Tesla’s main problem so far has been to meet the needs of affordability for customers.
But, people forget the Toyota Prius although not fully electric had already found a way to be affordable and energy-efficient, you see, if you believe that the earth will be destroyed in 12 years, instead of finding a way to make clean automobiles and trucks more affordable to make and manufacturer in NORTH AMERICA, you’d instead to try to find a way to make gas-guzzling cars and trucks more expensive. Liberals and Left-leaning types view the world backward in my opinion. In Greece, there is still record-high unemployment and nobody in Greece consider that maybe just maybe that their national minimum wage which is fixed at €758.30 per month or 9,100 euros per year is the problem.
If you listen to Bernie Sanders the two countries he wants the United States to mimic is socialism that exists in Sweden and Denmark, well in Sweden and Denmark they’ve abolished the federal minimum wage and replaced it with regressive taxation. Minimum wages in case you have a hard time grasping this forces labor costs up. One of the main reasons why most countries have unemployment problems revolve around minimum wages. Remember if there’s a minimum wage, namely a Federal minimum wage, it means it’s ILLEGAL in the case of Greece to hire someone and pay them less than €758.30 per month or 9,100 euros per year!
If you’ve never owned a business and you worked or inspired to work for the government your entire life, you’d probably say to yourself, so what’s the big deal? Businesses shouldn’t be exploiting workers with poverty-level wages Labor Unions will argue, well let’s say a persons labor isn’t as good as German or Japanese labor? Imagine if Germany and Japan simply did a better job educating their citizens for their competitive job market and then Japan and Germany set their minimum wage at a level that made sense based on IQ’s of their general population, but then lets also say that Greece over-priced their citizens labor capacity, can the government realistically balanced this flawed premise by forcing up Greeks wages?
I’d say no, I’d also say if like Canada and a major component to your future outlook is to import people from countries who typically make in a month what some Canadians make in a day and then price these people out of the market with high provincial minimum wages while at the same time try to meet a Globalist Climate Accord, I think you’re putting not only Toronto but the entire country of Canada at risk for a massive recession.
Unless the Canadian strategy for going green revolves around importing green technologies, these government people should be very careful with their proposals. Because Canadians are in record levels of debt and because of all these green initiatives Canadian governments are also forcing the cost to be in business up in Canada. Now, if like Germany and Japan the talent pool in Canada was sufficient to create and sustain the new Green economy, great! But if Canada moving forward is going to need to not only import green energies but also import a foreign talent pool to build and maintain this new green economy, well I think this is a recipe for disaster.
I’ve closely monitored Germany and their Solar and Wind revolution and at the very least the Germans are training their people in trade schools to be future leaders in Green energies, whereas in Canada I don’t see that same level of devotion. What I see in Canada is a mindset that throwing tax dollars at problems will buy us what we need. Well, from my standpoint this is how you create the problems that the people of Greece are experiencing. Once people don’t understand the cost to manufacture things, once large segments of the population are disconnected from how the Free Market operates, it becomes very hard to even mention the words Austerity!
If the health care system in Canada was bankrupt and the government said we need to make cuts, in modern-day Canada, do you really think people would understand the severity of the problem, or would the people simply accept the inevitable inflation tax? So I make my point clear The Greek drachma was almost worthless, prior to the creation of the European Union. To give you an idea 5,000 Greek drachmae equated to about $21.89 Canadian dollars. Why, because although the Greek people are classified as White, they and the Germans have a different culture a different way of thinking, a different form of governance. When your country has a lower valued currency it’s usually a sign that the size of your countries government, as well as your economic regulations, are too high.
People forget that Fascism came as a result of hyperinflation in Germany and in Italy, Fascism is National Socialism and most countries still believe in Socialism, which means that most countries think that the Government should use the money to solve problems, when in fact its the responsibility of the people to solve social problems.
In Switzerland, as an example, it’s illegal for governments to run deficits. A politician can go to jail in Switzerland if they run a deficit, furthermore, in Switzerland if a Government initiative doesn’t work, or is inefficient that government policy is abolished. Switzerland is landlocked and in the event of a war, the Swiss people don’t want to be compromised because they’re in debt to another nation.
Although all of Swiss’s neighbors are White countries, the Swiss aren’t white supremacists and they understand that nut jobs come in all races. An idiot isn’t regulated to one group of people, idiots exist everywhere especially in politics and that’s why raising taxes isn’t always the solution, in fact, its rarely the solution, raising regressive taxes as an example should be a temporary stimulus at best, not a permanent fix.
How long will Tesla be reliant on government subsidies? Toyota has done such a great job with the Prius that they’re losing market share in the Hybrid market. The hybrid auto market is very competitive now, why? Because Toyota took the risk of bringing their concept car to the market and it worked, it worked so well that other auto manufacturers followed suit. When I read the article below, I see short-sighted politicians who want to raise the cost of living to fulfill their own ideological needs. I think it’s disgusting and I hope the culture of Canada considers real sustainable changes.
